I had to replace the fan and the speakers on mine. Not sure why but the fan had rust on it which damaged the PCB and all the used fans on eBay were a little rusty. Annoying that they used so many different types of screws but at least its not glued like modern laptops.

Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to buy (used) HP ProBook 4530s. spec. are intel core i3-2310M, CPU 2.10GHz, 4gb RAM, 120 GB SSD, Win 10 Pro. Can anyone give me advice is it still a usable laptop? It would be used mainly for internet surfing, playing movies/music and as backup memory.
As long as you are using it as you have said it is great, and as long as you keep it cleaned it won't overheat. But for gaming or things that require heavy use of the CPU I do not recommend it.
Since the CPU model ends in "M", that indicates it is socketed and not soldered. It should be possible to upgrade the CPU to an i5 or i7 of the same year.
I went against the idea of disassembling it and changing thermal paste for a client, way too fragile and complex. it doesn't heat up much even after 10 years, A4-3305M sure is a "powerhouse" :)
