Hearing this song for maybe the thousandth time, it strikes me how bitter-sweet it is. If this is the sound of children running through the city, then I think it must be, more precisely, the sound of those children's parents watching them run and play, and trying to get what joy they can out of it, while wishing that a better life was possible to them and their children, under the brutal empire. It sounds like a parent smiling at his child's innocence, while at the same time silently weeping at what his child is too innocent to know. Or perhaps it is the sound of the heroes passing through the city, watching the happy families and knowing, from the battles they've been fighting, the jeopardy their lives are in, and remembering that that's what they've been fighting for.
I'm usually VERY picky with remixes of classics from the 90's. I LOVE it when a musician comes along with a modern treatment that completely does justice to the original, as you do here. Love it.
I read the title and imagined kids recklessly running through a city with real instruments in hand, not caring at all if something bad happens to the instruments.
Simply amazing. You got this one perfect. Just like the SNES original. I swear, there's something missing between newer game music and the older stuff. Seems that with the technical limitations they had to focus on creating catchy melodies that stick in your head. Now they have more processing power than ever but the music isn't nearly as memorable.
I will say FFXV had some damn good music, just not enough unique tracks imo. But yeah for the most part I agree with you. It's like most game companies simply don't put nearly as much effort into making a memorable soundtrack these days. Like Zelda BOTW. The Zelda series has known for it's masterpiece music, but in BOTW there was barely any music and it was really ambient. I don't get why. Ambient music seems to be what's popular with a lot of companies. Also there's all the games with the generic rock/rap/dubstep beats. Retro style gaming music like in FF/Zelda will always be my favorite. I don't even know what this style of music is technically called... classical-inspired arrangements?
This carefully crafted version manages to deploy THE 2 Melodies that Uematsu shares simultaneously at THE chorus. Thank You for revisiting and improving perfection.🎉
This is incredible. It is so loyal to the original source material. Gotta figure something out to get you more noticed. Have you considered doing a panel at PAX? That could help.
Your sound is absolutely fantastic! And what an awesome selection of instruments. As a recorder player I believe Nobuo Uematsu would be very proud of your work :).
Simply awesome - perfectly in keeping with the mood of the original, and makes the Grand Finale version sound embarrassingly amateur by comparison. Really good stuff. You're obviously a very accomplished musician. Subscribed.
+Ripace Thanks for the kind words! I'll admit that I always found the Grand Finale tracks a bit lacking. I think they tried to hard too make the arrangements different that they lost the spirit of the original version.
Amazing. This has got to be my favorite cover of this tune. Your arrangement, playing skill and production quality are outstanding sir. I'm amazed by your talent with so many instruments. Thank you very much for this wonderful cover.
What gets me is you absolutely nailed all of the subtle nuances iin the original music. I'm one of those pedants who just remembers tiny details, notes, and inflections (though I suck at music theory...), and you hit EVERY single one. This was such a glorious recreation of Uematsu-san's masterful work.
Found your channel looking for a character's theme, been sitting here listening for awhile. Really enjoying it, they all sound great. Thank you for making these.
I just found your channel about a week ago and I'm really impressed. Even more so that someone else found the music of FF6 as worthwhile as I do. I was wondering if you would possibly be open to do a cover of "Town Theme 01" from Illusion of Gaia. It's the one without the seagulls. Great stuff man. Can't wait to hear more.
I got so inspired by your version that I wrote the lyrics to go with the song in Italian. th-cam.com/video/r5ufr3d1BjI/w-d-xo.html (The clip was made by Orchestral Fantasy and the music was written by Nobuo Uematsu... lyrics are by me, dedicated to the kids living in countries plagued by war)
Elegant and beautifully refined arrangement and playing. Hope your channel picks up more subs soon, it's a shame that these covers don't find a wider audience!
Wow... just wow. This song reminds me of my dead grandfather because I used to play FF at his house and he was with me watching. You deserve mi Like and Subscribe. Here you go...
I haven't been subscribed nearly as long as you have, but now I wish I had paid attention to what number he was at when I subscribed. I really don't subscribe to a lot of people, but this channel is good all the time, and I've been subscribed for over 2 years now.
Haha, thanks Sabin. It's in a few weeks now. Thanks for reminding me about this video. What a great cover. Beautifully done. Cheers to you and I hope you have an awesome week!
you sir have my like (the 50th on the video by the way :D) I'm a total ff noob and I'm playing through the game for the first time, this theme is awesome and so is your cover
This music reminds me a bit of Jerry Goldsmith's Ba'ku village from Star Trek: Insurrection And ironcally at the start of the movie you see kids running through a village
I've just heard the new OST from the newest Pixel Perfect edition of FFVI. Technically, sounds amazing, but the flute and orchestration is exaggerated, too much need for protagonism, lost the magic of the original. Here, it sounds faithful, sensible, the song kept it's magic. I prefer this humble, more intimate version a thousand times. A small orchestra like this one fits much better with some songs. Excellent work.
I just listened to the distant worlds philharmonic version and this is still Better imo obviously there not trying to be accurate but still this kills it.
This song makes me cry. I don't know why. It just evokes so many emotions for me.

I never appreciated how beautiful and peaceful those cities were until after the apocalypse
same as RL
Y'know that's a good point.
@Boco Corwin The freaking world got rekt... yet kids still run through the city... It made me die from inside...
Kefka was a real jerk
Yea, I felt the same way post Y2K.
This is just beautiful. Thanks for such a lovely rendition of that theme.
such a fine rendition of this song!
I'm usually VERY picky with remixes of classics from the 90's. I LOVE it when a musician comes along with a modern treatment that completely does justice to the original, as you do here. Love it.
I can imagine Terra/Tina Bradford just walking by a town and seeing these kids just running through the streets, innocent and carefree...
ギターできてリコーダーできるんだー

凄すぎる
I read the title and imagined kids recklessly running through a city with real instruments in hand, not caring at all if something bad happens to the instruments.
Nicely done, was first song i played on the recorder at age 18 in 2000!
We can now enjoy this song in it's original form without the limitations of the SNES sound chip. This is amazing, thanks!

It's just not the same without Nobuo... ཀ_ཀ
not every title has Nobuo Uematsu composing the music ^^
I know exactly which ones he did the music for. I'm mainly speaking about the main series.... 1-10 are all his work.
Chaos Omega 1-9. Nobuo did SOME work on X, but most of it was a team of others.
This carefully crafted version manages to deploy THE 2 Melodies that Uematsu shares simultaneously at THE chorus. Thank You for revisiting and improving perfection.🎉
Great stuff you have here Andrew!
This is incredible. It is so loyal to the original source material. Gotta figure something out to get you more noticed. Have you considered doing a panel at PAX? That could help.
A panel would be fun, I don't know too much about what kinds of game related conventions are out there, but I'll check into PAX. Thanks!
Beautiful rendition from one of the best town theme music in Final Fantasy. The wooden recorder adds a nice touch too. :)
I'd like you to know, Sir, your work makes me very happy.
So beautiful. You captured the emotion and nostalgia perfectly.
To say this is well done is an understatement! Your mastery is apparent in your playing! Bravaissimo!!!
Love this, can't believe you are playing every single instrument perfectly and making it sound exactly like the original but better.
Your sound is absolutely fantastic! And what an awesome selection of instruments. As a recorder player I believe Nobuo Uematsu would be very proud of your work :).
You're crushing it! Both in skill and selection! I love your work!
This hit me after a day that left me vulnerable, and my keyboard likely has water damage now, but it's alright. Thanks for this beautiful rendition!
He's staring into my soul while playing the instruments.... I'm getting goosebumps!!!!

awesome stuff. The nostalgia hit hard with this one, much appreciated.
Love the opening! You got it just right, hecka nostalgic.
I really appreciate the feeling of this music!
This made me cry. Soooo beautiful thank you so much!

This. I needed this, SO BAD. Thank you.
Been watching your work, super impressive. These recreations are absolutely perfect.
You have a perfect sound, it catches greatly that track
Amazing. This has got to be my favorite cover of this tune. Your arrangement, playing skill and production quality are outstanding sir. I'm amazed by your talent with so many instruments. Thank you very much for this wonderful cover.
Holy cow i love this.... Subscribed and notification on. Thus was one of my fave soundtracks as a kid. Man you nailed it!

You can tell he grew up during the time this game just came out and inspired to reminiscent of his childhood.
Just found your channel, absolutely excellent!!!
Finally!! HD quality for those beloved themes!! Thanks!! ❤👍
I really enjoy listening to your covers, keep up the great work!
