- Arkansas Baseball and Kentucky Baseball played an elimination game in the 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament. The winner would advance to play the loser of LSU-South Carolina on Friday.

One of my favorite accomplishments is revolutionizing the way sports channels create thumbnails. I've adopted two different styles, one with logos on the left and a game snapshot on the right, and the other with the logos in the middle and game snapshots representing both teams on either side.
I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

That said, I really really think the world of Kentucky’s coach. Just one real dude (who can also coach some baseball like nobody’s business).

Arkansas played really well most of the season, looked like they were favorites going to Omaha. Now I don't think they can make it past Super Regionals, if they can even get there. I hope I am wrong.

Think the same thing. That lineup is going to let them down a couple of the games and its going to cost them big time. Their team is built to win low run games, 2-1, 3-2, etc. They need those pitchers throwing perfectly to win it all i think.
We really struggle with that over call play with right field, first, and second.

loving this baseball all season but I do not understand how the season and playoffs work. Can somebody explain or point to a site that explains this for a dummy?

For starters: This is the SEC (conference) Tournament. It operates one way … and the NCAA TOURNAMENT (with a field of 64 teams that will be revealed on Memorial Day) operates another way.
So do you want clarification on the SEC TOURNAMENT or the NCAA TOURNAMENT?
Let me explain the NCAA TOURNAMENT (which begins NEXT weekend) … There will be 64 teams selected. These 64 teams will be in 16 different Regions (4 teams per Region). The TOP 16 TEAMS are Regional hosts … So for example, I’m a Tennessee Vol fan. We are in the Top 16 (actually #1 or #2) … Anyway, we will host a 4-team double elimination tournament next weekend. And there will be 16 micro-tournaments (double elimination) all over America next weekend. 1 Regional champion will emerge from each of those micro tournaments. That will leave you with 16 teams remaining.
Those 16 Regional champions will advance to the SuperRegionals. The top 8 teams remaining will host a best-of-3 Series. So my team (Tennessee) will ALSO host the SuperRegional IF we win our Regional. 3 years ago we hosted. We beat LSU 2 games to ZERO. However, the following year we hosted Notre Dame. Notre Dame beat us in Game 1. We won Game 2. They won Game 3. They upset us, therefore THEY advanced to the College World Series and joined the other 7 SuperRegional champions there in Omaha.
Anyway, the 8 teams that win SuperRegionals will advance to Omaha, Nebraska to participate in The College World Series. Usually it is the SuperRegional host that advances because of home field advantage, but not always (see above)
Now, once you get to The College World Series (which consists of 8 teams), they split the teams up 4 and 4 … Four teams (AGAIN) play a micro-tournament (double elimination; just like in Regionals). Whoever emerges advances to THE FINAL SERIES. Both sides in Omaha do this. THEN, for the 2 team’s remaining, the final series is Best of 3 (just like SuperRegionals). Whoever wins that is the National Champion.
It’s crazy but you could lose up to 4 games in the NCAA TOURNAMENT and still be crowned NationalChampion.
Just think of it this way:
1) REGIONALS (4teams) double elimination tournament
2) SuperRegionals (2 teams in a best of 3 series)
3) College World Series (4teams) double elimination tournament on ONE SIDE OF THE BRACKET … Keep in mind that 8 teams are in Omaha at the CWS therefore another 4-team double elimination tournament is happening simultaneously.
4) Best of 3

Kentucky avoids being eliminated pounding Hagen Smith the tournament keeps being unpredictable.
Pounded Hagen Smith??? He pitched 2 innings, struck out 4, and the 2 runs he gave up were unearned.
The tournament is predictable after Tennessee lost I just predicted the lower seed
It's never good to start a game with a Walk lol... Arkansas fans will cry and call them "unearned" Runs though when Hagan Smith walked the guy and then made a bad throw lol. Stat saver. Just to be clear Hagan Smith is amazing though I just hate Arkansas fans lol.

SEC tourney doesn’t matter. There have been teams that have been knocked out after 2 games that have made it to Omaha and even won it all, and there are teams that won the SEC tournament and severely underperformed in the NCAA tournament. And no, I’m not just saying that cause I’m salty. Coming in, I didn’t care what we did in Hoover. Y’all can fight for bragging rights while we rest up and get ready for our national championship run 😁
I’m an Arkansas fan and we’re in bad trouble. We barely win with perfect pitching and impeccable defense. Take one of those elements away and we can’t beat good teams. Take both away and we can’t beat mid major teams.

Why is everyone mad/hating on the Hogs? They didn’t gaf about this tourney. They wanna get home and have time to rest before they host regionals. This tourney means dog💩 and if you think they’re in trouble you’re a clown. If they wanted to win this game, Smith would have stayed in longer than 2 innings 💀
