- Come adventure with my grandparents, cousin, and I as we do some international travel in Sweden! This video is from our first day in Stockholm where we got to take in so much rich history of Old Gamla Stan.

Fun side note in regards to the crosswalk signals: before they added the couples the lights it was just one man why was named "Herr Gårman" which either translates to "Mister Walkman" or "This is where you walk"
Because 'herr' (Mr) and 'här' (here) are pronounced almost the same.
And "man" means both 'man' and the general form of 'you'.
Literally;
-Mister Walkman
-Here walk you
Oh that's nifty! Make sense too since they prefer you to walk in the crosswalk instead of what we call J walking. Much safer to just be on the cross walk.

How cool is that! I am hopeful I can go to sweden this summer, it's going to be my first time abroad from the US but im excited!
When in summer were you thinking? Different parts of Sweden have festivals during the summer solstice, something to check out if you're there at the right time. You can even watch the releasing of the cows 😂. It's such an amazing place, you're going to love it!

@@_Simon there's always another time to see midsummer. We went at the end of August. I was trying to avoid crowds to make it less stressful on my grandpa.

The Nobel Peace Prize is not given out in Stockholm, all the other ones are presented in Stockholm, but the Peace Prize is in Oslo, Norway.
Yes that is true. I was told the peace prize museum though has a very interesting display of the history of the prize, and all the recipients through out the years. I think it would be very fascinating to learn more about who had received it and why.
Really enjoyed the video. The quality is great, the narration is great, and the background music really fit the vibe. I really liked the jacket the tour guide wore. Architecture of the city was really neat and the statue of the dragon getting slayed was pretty dope. I dunno if i could get used to the small bed and no ac though.
Overall, i enjoyed the video and look forward to the rest of the series
Thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! 😁 I had fun finding the music hahaha. It was a fantastic jacket to not lose her in a crowd that's for sure 😂. Not all the hotels had small beds, and even though there wasn't AC, most places weren't hot enough to need it. Stockholm just happened to have a warmer summer this year than normal. You should definitely go and check it out, perhaps in their fall or spring when the weather is perfect.
Hi Again Candy. the bugler you talked about they had in many towns.his work was to go around and watching for anemys and whats worse was fires so he loked out of the town in one direction and blowed and even shouted out all is calm and no fire. so that man had a very immportend jobb. Kj

Sorry to hear you managed to catch a riot, that's not very often but saturday in the King's garden, yeah that's where you'd find them, if ever. You were staying at and walking through the "hottest spot" of Sweden all categories, good and bad, so... Now that you've done that, it's unlikely to happen again. Riot in Kungsträdgården/check! Far from all swedes could check that box!
Yeah, the consensus is that we managed to find the very rare riot, but it doesn't seem to surprise anyone that it was in the Kings Garden haha. I certainly hope I never experience one again while there, but I also typically tend to avoid the hot spot city locations when ever I go anywhere.
You have to read up on the Nobel prizes! Yes, plural.
"Norwegian minimalism"?
Oh I certainly do, and absolutely want to go back to the museum the next time I have time in Stockholm. I realized after I filmed the video that my brain put the word Norwegian instead of Scandinavian like I meant to actually say. Scandinavian minimalism is something I learned about in my interior design and architecture class in college. It's an aesthetic inspired by trends in Nordic countries. It's big about simplicity, functionality and calmness for interior design. I love the concept of minimalism, although I'm not very good at applying it to my actual living space as much as I try. I've been told my ADHD is what makes it hard to follow minimalism in my life. I'm still trying though.
Greetings from Sweden! Next time you visit Sweden don´t forget to visit the Viking villige Birka at the island Björkö, outside Stockholm. And you should also take the ferry to the island Gotland and visigt the medeavel city Visby. There other stuff to see on Gotland but to go there you have to do your own research. And shame on you who didn´t know what swedish fika is! A swedish fika is a way to socialise and sit down with your freind or your colliuges at work over a cup of coffee and some treat (perhapsee a cinaman bun) where you can talk about what you feel like talking about, like whan you plan doing to the weekend. And if your haveing a fika at work, workrelated topics are banned!
Glad you enjoyed your visit. Protesters yelling at your grandpa over a route 66 hat?? I have a route 66 hat. I dont understand. It must have been about something else. Sorry that happened though. We normally take pride in being modest, polite, quiet and a bit introvert.
I absolutely loved my visit to Sweden and can't wait to go back. I think perhaps they didn't understand what route 66 was fully. The ones yelling at him seemed rather young. Not your fault though, life happens. Swedes are very polite and semi introverted yes. I learned that more as we spent more time there and spent time with the family. I'm glad the people in stockholm were an exception and not the normal hahah.
@@candytechadventures Are you sure those yelling at your father were ethnic Swedes? There's a lot of South Americans and Arabs here and they are not so fond of the U.S. That being said, regardless of who did it, it is unforgivable to do such a thing.
I'm really not sure if they were ethnic Swedes or not. Didn't feel like asking at the time. I did notice though the very diverse ethnicities while in Stockholm. Stockholm is like Sweden's melting pot in my brain and very much appreciate it. You are right though they are not huge fans of America and I can't completely blame them. They were young and emotional. I hope they learn later once calm that it wasn't okay and will learn from their mistakes.
As a swede and as a citizen of the earth I'm sorry for what the student protesters did to you, harrassing your grandpa like that. It's not acceptable at all. Things like that don't happen often in Stockholm, but every once in a while such brainless groups of people (often with strong political ideologies) get out to protest against something and in the act of "protesting" they ruin it for everyone else. They seem to be filled with hatred rather than a belief in something better.
It's okay it's not your fault, but I appreciate the sentiment and it makes me happy knowing that it was a very rare occurrences for Sweden. Emotions were high amongst the students there, and sometimes people let their emotions get the better of them. Hopefully they realize their error later and learn from their mistake. Politics here in the US definitely stir up trouble so I understand.
So sorry you had that trouble in Kings Garden. It´s really not common to experience that in Stockholm or in the rest of Sweden, but we are living through stressful times right now, with gang wars in Sweden, the country joining NATO, war in Ukraine and in the middle east. Lots of emotions are stirred up.
Not your fault. My cousin said they were surprised that happened as well and that it's not normally like that. You are correct though, we are living through some interesting times right now for sure.
Diversity, "multiculture" and other "enrichments" comes with a price, and if there was any justice those who embrace them should pay the full cost for it.
