    Ystad is such a lovely, cute old town, if you actually walk around it. So much history.

      Oh it absolutely is! I loved walking around the historic part the night I was there. I really wish we had had a whole extra day there to see more of it. When I planned the trip to make it a little easier on booking and costs I used a group called Nordic Visitor and did a customization to their 10 day classic Sweden package. Had I known all the things I know now, I would of certainly modified it to have more time in a few places. I'm hoping my videos help others plan their trips to Sweden with more time to explore. The next time I go to Sweden I now know to give myself more time in each place. I absolutely can't wait to go back, and next time I do since I noticed all the awesome camping locations, I'm thinking of getting a travel van to save money on lodgings and then be able to stay in each place as long as I'd like without worrying about making it to reservations.

      Ah yes, my cousin said next time I visit I should definitely take the train to Copenhagen. Unfortunately we just didn't have time to go there on this trip.

    Even the stanza in our national anthem gives it away: "Resting on memories from bygone days" yeah that's us in a nutshell :-)

    Watching these videos have made me appreciate my country Sweden more. Haven't really thought about how much history there actually is everywhere, I just took that for granted I guess. You make me really miss the summer, I really love Sweden in the summer. Spring is soon here tho, finally :) I have maybe seen the sun like 10-15 days for the whole winter.

      I'm happy to hear that my videos are helping you appreciate it more :). You're country is absolutely splendid and has soooooo much history. May I ask which part of Sweden you live in and what your winters are like? My cousins are definitely excited for spring as well hahah.

      Thank you as well, I'm glad you're enjoying the trip 😁. No? I figured it would of still been nice to see, but perhaps next time. Awe thank you! The channel is my hobby so I don't get as much time to put into it as I'd like since I still have to work, but I'm still learning more and more as I go and I love making the videos 😊. Sweden has a very long and full history in many areas of topic. An you're right, there's more than some swedes even know about. My cousin's were amazed as some of the places I found that they had never even heard of while living there. Your country is beautiful and full of so many wonderful places and people.

      @@candytechadventures Best waterfalls in the south would be Stalpet in Aneby, Huskvarnafallet in Huskvarna and Dunkehalla in Jönköping, all in north Småland (not far from Gränna) Stalpet and Dunkehalla the most accessible, Huskvarna best seen by driving road 132 from Huskvarna. It's worth the detour if you're around.

If you return to this area of the waterfalls also check out the top of Taberg mountain just south of Jönköping (you can drive all the way up there), Torpön outside town of Tranås is very beautiful (adress Torpöns färjeläge) there's simply no end to the marvels if you go outside the main roads 🙂

    Actually Ale stenar is believed to have been raised during iron age, Vendel age. The age before the Viking time.

    Thank`s for the video. You know, you can just ask people how names and places are pronounced! They will be happy to help. As for Kivik it is She-vick. Often K is pronounced as this. Like you said in Kyrka = church. And (Prästens badkar= The priests bathtub). If you google Kivik äppelkaka/ äppelpaj you might find what you ate there!
    Ale stenar is so so gorgeous! I`ve been hanggliding there several times. And then bougt smoked mackerel down by the sea. I`ll be following your journey!

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the insight, I had no idea that's how you pronounce Kivik. Although that makes sense now that you mention Kyrka, not sure why I didn't think about that haha. I thought about asking, but then my brain got in the way. I worried that it would be weird to go to a stranger and ask them and might make them uncomfortable. Plus there was one bartender at a hotel bar I asked about a word and he started making fun of me for being American. I doubt others would of made fun of me, but it didn't really help me feel up for asking. I definitely want to find the recipe for what I ate there, because that was just the most amazing version of apple pie I've ever had hahah (Although my grandmas is second best of course). I've never been hang-gliding before but would love to try it. Would you say it's a difficult thing to learn? I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the journey, and hope you enjoy the rest of it! :)

      . @candytechadventures That bartebder was an a-hole! Most swedes are super nice. They just don`t take the first step to a conversation. And their english is very good. As for hanggliding it depends. Some people are naturals others will never learn. I took an Intensive crash course in two weeks daily. That worked for me. I camped on the sight. Yes google the recipes and try out! Best wishes🙂

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's what my cousin told me also. She was saying that usually swedes are super polite and friendly and everyone else I talked to while there was. That bartender was the only one who wasn't. I assume he possibly had bad interactions with other Americans who came through the hotel maybe. That it is, only a couple places we went through had people who didn't speak much English when we went through the country side. Hhhhmmm okay, well maybe I'll get lucky and be a natural hahah. Thanks I certainly will! :)

      @@candytechadventures😄As for hanggliding. If you find a club in your area. You can call them and ask if they do tandem flights! Tandem gliders are bigger and you get strapt into the pilot and you go together. Then you will know if that`s anything for you. Of course you have to pay for it🦅. ATB.

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure there are any here where I live currently, but I will certainly have to look. I know there are a lot of sky diving groups, another thing I want to go and do at some point as well hahah. Tandem flights are probably a good idea to try it out first and make sure it's something I will actually enjoy. Such is life, having to pay for everything ahahaha.

    Pronouncing Ystad, not bad, it comes down to the "a". Vocal before single consonant *often* means "heavy" vocal, like a in "awe" or maybe the first a in "bargain". If there's double consonants after vocal, expect it to be short, more like a fast "ah". I say *often*, swedish is full of "unspoken rules" unfortunally, you just have to learn them one by one, word for word sometimes.
    So "Yst (awe) d" comes closer to it! Leaving out how to pronounce it in the local dialect, that's a totally different story.
    Most swedes are sloppy with the last d in the ending -stad (basically means town), leaving it out so it becomes like "Ystah". The a becomes more like a in "another" toning out into an "h".

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, and that's very helpful to know about the fast vs heavy vocal sounds. It truly is full of unspoken rules I am learning hahaha, but I still love learning it. How would the local dialect pronounce it?

      @@candytechadventures Dear god, it's an insult to even try to explain if you're not a native. But I lived there for 7 years as a kid, so I should know, however the natives did fight about proper pronounciation even between neighbouring cities. And sound for single letters differ also between languages. Ystad, swedish explanation: Öyystaudh. How am I to explain in english?
      Ö as in first part of earl
      yy as in first part of "you", very long "y", can't be too long.
      Staudh, think of "stout" ending on a "d"
      It's halfway there I think

    Greetings from Sweden! Next time you visit Sweden don´t forget to visit the Viking villige Birka at the island Björkö, outside Stockholm. And you should also take the ferry to the island Gotland and visigt the medeavel city Visby. There other stuff to see on Gotland but to go there you have to do your own research. And shame on you who didn´t know what swedish fika is! A swedish fika is a way to socialise and sit down with your freind or your colliuges at work over a cup of coffee and some treat (perhapsee a cinaman bun) where you can talk about what you feel like talking about, like whan you plan doing to the weekend. And if your haveing a fika at work, workrelated topics are banned!
