I am from Malmö and äggkaka is my favorite to make every Thursday it is such a savoury and delicious meal with the fläsk and lingonberries but that monster äggkaka really takes the price for sure
Considering the eggs and the milk, this dish is probably close to 400g of protein. Which is a massive amount. I'm not surprised he struggled, and seriously impressed that he finished!
Taking the thread starter's numbers the batter alone comes at 10k kcal, including approximately 500g pf protein and 350+ g of fat 😆 Not even mentioning the pork nor the allmighty lingerberries. Haha
So happy you got to challenge the äggakaka. I make it for the family now and then, but a 10 egg cake and 400g of stekfläsk (it's basically salted pork belly) is enough to feed four people. Btw, the lingonberry should be prepared by stirring the berries with sugar without heating, until the sugar is melted. Store it in a jar with a cinamon stick for a couple of days, for extra yumminess. If you come to Sweden again, you might like to try the "pitepalt" challenge, which is a very serious competition indeed.
I love the fact that you’re not just spending your time in Stockholm as most people do when experiencing Sweden. Our country has loads of history and with that, loads of different cuisines in different regions. 👍🏼😊
Super dense and super rich. And whipped up in a Gravitational Singularity Kitchen! I don't like to see anyone suffer, but I have to say it is nice to see that there are still some food challenges out there which are actually a challenge for a Seasoned pro like Adam. Seeing him start to struggle so early into a challenge is eye-opening and says a lot about what he is up against. Amazing as always and so glad that I don't have your job, I am quite certain this one would have wrecked me in about three bites!
"Nobody uses decilitre" Me, a Swede, googled that and just got a reality check. Basically only Scandinavia and a few European countries that uses decilitre! Had no idea.
Why Swedes use DL,CL, Kryddmått etc. comes from 1940-50's when the government wanted to build "folkhemmet". With new rules for housing, healthcare, alcohol and so on came also a cookbook called "Vår Kokbok", almost every swede has a copy. it got published with the thought that if we all had kitchens, all hade enough food and we all knew how to cook food, noone would be starving. In that cookbook was with every recipe the exact measures to cook/bake something. There for everone started to use deciliter, centiliter, etc. . and now we all use theese measures in our recipes.
As a fan from Sweden, I've really been enjoying these last couple of videos! And I'm glad we managed to give you at least one tough challenge, and equally glad you managed to push through!
I love the Swedish episodes! Please come back! Also I’m super impressed you could finish that! I know how dense it is and how full you get. I could never!
I love your pause and blank stare when the proper names are recited in Swedish. Your response of "Right" got a vocal yelp from myself, as well as several other exchanges. This one had me laughing the most. Got to say, i wasn't sure if you were going to finish this baby. Well done sire, a yeoman's effort.
In this challenge, the lingonberries were stirred with sugar and rested for a while, usually in perforated containers. In Swedish it's called rårörda lingon. The pork was pork belly strips and it might have been salted as a means to preserve it. In Swedish it's caleld sidfläsk.
Fläsk is basically sliced porkbelly that's not cured it's just fried with salt and peppar, we have it as a condiment to things like Blodpudding and the likes! :) So happy you did Sweden that's awesome! edit: South of Sweden usually does not have Swedish sodas, Portello and Trocadero is

Æggekage is really delicious. though the topping is a bit different in the area of Denmark im from. we would typically have it with tomatosslices and chives on top, and then either this same type of bacon as in this video, but typically more crispy cooked, or normal crispy bacon slices. it also goes really well on a slice of rye bread. some people also uses slices of potato on top instead of tomatos.
This is the very first time I've witnessed Beard visibly endure the protein sweats. Good work, mate. Also, the look on the woman's face when he said your time was priceless.

Awesome to see you in Sweden!! Been following you for a very long time, but never thought you would visit my country for some challenges! Keep up the great work with entertaining content!!
Apart from your insane eating skills, I'm a huge fan of the fact that you're a musician AND a great video editor, the transition of the music from outdoors to in the car for example is so clean!!
One of my favorite dishes if I make something myself. Even a standard one with 8 eggs leaves you satisfied for a whole day. Ystad is a very nice little town.
When you have to waddle to the car, you know Beard is feeling it. It's a paradox but your eating ends up making myself (and likely others) hungry. Keep being awesome!
Nope, it's even more. In Äggkaka from Skane there is flower and milk it it as well. He ate about 26 servings, 10k kcal in total with about 500g of protein and 350+ g fat...IN THE BATTER ALONE 😅😅😅 He is such a beast..
I've done 40 eggs before but that was without any filling, no cheese, only onions. But this looks like another beast entirely. Eggs despite how small they look when cooked, will fill you up way more than chips/fries. Props to Beard who's a greater monster for finishing this
How sweet ^.^ I am from Denmark, and we eat "egg cake" too. It has nothing to do with the traditional association with cake. It's scrabbled eggs, but instead of scrambling it, you let it cook flat on the pan. Egg, salt, peber. And we add bacon/flæsk and lots of chives. I love how deceiving it is 😂
Adam, if you get too old for giant meals, we'd all be happy to watch you go around trying various normal sized meals. Also remember to pack a thermometer with you so you know how hot the food is!
@@Beardmeatsfood Well at least you'd stop wasting food and a bunch of animals dying just so you can vomit it up later. It's really a disgusting thing to do as a human being. I eat meat, but i dont waste food. How many animals have been grinded up and killed just so you can vomit it all up later for likes and views? Really shameful and disgusting behavior
That was really enjoyable to watch! I honestly thought we were gonna see a rare fail when when the fizzy cane out after 10 mins! Good show Beard! This swedish series has been fun! 💪
It’s crazy to think that his health and livelihood literally depends on the strength of his stomach wall. PS - saying that something with 40 eggs in it taste “really eggy” was priceless
This not healthy in the slightest. Even if you workout and fast, stretching your stomach like this and eating really unhealthy food after fasting is horrible for your body. I still love watching it though.
Hey Beardman! Good to see you on a weekday again! I wasn't sure if you were gonna beat this one, but you did! Forty eggs! Are you kidding me?! Kudos! Love you and Mrs. Beard ❤
Swedish sodas include the Christmast “julmust” (like a beer tasting cola), trocadero (orange and apple tasting soda) and others that you perhaps wouldn’t find in a local restaurant. Traditional ones include sockerdricka (kind of like sprite), hallonsoda (raspberry flavour) and päronsoda (pear flavoured). Among the more indie brands I’d recommend “cloudberry grenade” from a company up north of Sweden.
@@alexzander2211 I’m finnish, it’s extremely common here too. Doesn’t take very long to pick a bucket full of them and preserving them is easy even to the lazy people as they stay good mushed up in their own juice until the next season. Though I cook them into a jam like most of the people do.
I guess it depends where you’re from. I’m from the US so find the European trips more interesting, not only for the location but in my opinion, and I’m sure others will disagree with me which is fine but…. I think the food here for the most part SUCKS!!!!
Ah! Finally, something different from the regular burgers, pizzas, French fries, beans, etc. It was unexpectedly challenging, but beating Beard requires more than just 40 eggs and some Swedish bacon. In fact, the only way to beat him or push him to his limits is to do a pancake challenge with a lot of mushrooms.

@@JimboJones99How's about you leave politics out of it. Especially since you mention the RAPIST ex president. Not a good look.
And the stupid pho cauldron. But yeah this looked grim
Awesome to see you in Sweden!! Been following you for a very long time, but never thought you would visit my country for some challenges! Keep up the great work with entertaining content!!
My grandparents were Swedish and used to make this speciality for the family.
Just not as huge 😅
Great video, Adam!
Apart from your insane eating skills, I'm a huge fan of the fact that you're a musician AND a great video editor, the transition of the music from outdoors to in the car for example is so clean!!
ye thats hard to do...
When Beard doesn't ask to see the dessert menu, you know it was a tough challenge. Nice win
That's about 13, 3 egg omelettes in 23 minutes, as well half a pig sliced on top for good measure. Good challenge, the owners were nice people too!👍
Nope, it's even more. In Äggkaka from Skane there is flower and milk it it as well.
He ate about 26 servings, 10k kcal in total with about 500g of protein and 350+ g fat...IN THE BATTER ALONE 😅😅😅
He is such a beast..
You got that right!
I've done 40 eggs before but that was without any filling, no cheese, only onions. But this looks like another beast entirely. Eggs despite how small they look when cooked, will fill you up way more than chips/fries. Props to Beard who's a greater monster for finishing this
Yeah, you'd have to add 1kg/2lbs+ of wheat flour to that as well as 3.5 litres/6 pints of milk. And that's excluding the pork 😮
😂 not sure I’d be much of a food reviewer mate
@@Beardmeatsfood Well at least you'd stop wasting food and a bunch of animals dying just so you can vomit it up later. It's really a disgusting thing to do as a human being. I eat meat, but i dont waste food. How many animals have been grinded up and killed just so you can vomit it all up later for likes and views? Really shameful and disgusting behavior
Awesome to see you in my country of Sweden! keep it up man :) love the videos!
Always good to see Adam is human and has a challenge once in a while 😂
*APPLAUDS* When I seen that cake I knew it was going to be dense. Well done, you never cease to amaze!
Well this made my trip to work tolerable this morning! You’re the man Beard, thanks for always brightening my days
You know it's serious when Adam is asking for a soft drink at the beginning of the challenge. Great video as always!
A beard meats food video when you are on your lunch break.... perfect timing!
Ten minutes in and I was thinking, wow! Got a sweat on! Then you said it yourself 😂
That was really enjoyable to watch! I honestly thought we were gonna see a rare fail when when the fizzy cane out after 10 mins! Good show Beard!
This swedish series has been fun! 💪
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the authenticity of your content Beard!! Admiration from North Carolina :)
"Second half is comin!" Really had me rolling! 😂
I came here for this comment. 😃
Brewery! I love breweries. New flavors each time I visit that are specially unique to each brewery.
It’s crazy to think that his health and livelihood literally depends on the strength of his stomach wall.
PS - saying that something with 40 eggs in it taste “really eggy” was priceless
Yes crazy you can make a living doing this
This not healthy in the slightest. Even if you workout and fast, stretching your stomach like this and eating really unhealthy food after fasting is horrible for your body. I still love watching it though.
"The second half is coming" was lol, nice work!
Eggcellent! After the half i thought you might get in real trouble. I was wrong, you smashed it once again. Good Job, Adam!
Hell yeah! As a fellow scanian fan I'm glad to see you represent our provincial dish, the äggakaga
Hey Beardman! Good to see you on a weekday again! I wasn't sure if you were gonna beat this one, but you did! Forty eggs! Are you kidding me?! Kudos! Love you and Mrs. Beard ❤
That Diet Coke came out quick! I got a little worried when they said forty eggs too! Good job cool hand beard!
Cool Hand Beard… Excellent 👏🏻👏🏻
Swedish sodas include the Christmast “julmust” (like a beer tasting cola), trocadero (orange and apple tasting soda) and others that you perhaps wouldn’t find in a local restaurant. Traditional ones include sockerdricka (kind of like sprite), hallonsoda (raspberry flavour) and päronsoda (pear flavoured). Among the more indie brands I’d recommend “cloudberry grenade” from a company up north of Sweden.
Julmust finns att köpa på IKEA över hela världen. "Julesaga" tror jag det heter, den är god
Cool Hand Luke (American movie reference) would salute you sir! And probably wished he would have had the pork and berries. Thanks.
It’s fun that you get to travel all around and taste some different cuisine than you would normally . Well done, sir!
Thanks!
Lingonberry is very scandinavian, glad to hear Beard likes it 😁
To be honest as a dane we cant get it here. Its more swedish. We take it home everytime we on a trip to sweden.
@@alexzander2211 I’m finnish, it’s extremely common here too. Doesn’t take very long to pick a bucket full of them and preserving them is easy even to the lazy people as they stay good mushed up in their own juice until the next season. Though I cook them into a jam like most of the people do.
Love these Beardy Euro trips, pretty interesting compared to the US challenges.
Theres a lot more variety which is cool.
I guess it depends where you’re from. I’m from the US so find the European trips more interesting, not only for the location but in my opinion, and I’m sure others will disagree with me which is fine but…. I think the food here for the most part SUCKS!!!!
My grandma used to make Äggakaka and I have always loved it. I think my love would fade if I ever tried this challenge though.
every time i hear "lingonberry", that funny restaurant pancake scene from the big lebowski pops into my mind😂
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you look defeated so quick 😂 glad you plowed on through it
Dude, do not ask for more challenging Swedish food... We got the nuclear option in the shape of bulging cans. 🐟🤮
I know you go at odd times of the day but these places are always eerily quiet. Gives the videos a bizarre but enjoyable feel
