Hello Jeff White, Yep, I agree with you 100 percent! Sternos are not the best option for all cooking, but they sure have their place. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Refill w/ HAND Sanitizer = Gelled alcohol = sterno....this is cheaper than buyn' new sterno & both make a HOT 🔥 BLUE Flame !! I refill after using only 1/2 sterno...shake 2 mix...burns better...only do this w/ COOL can. 🍽 Great vid tks !
"Fancy heat" is nothing but a candle fueled by a can. And in a pinch, you can use a small wood fire in the Sterno folding stove if you have no canned fuel. Works just fine.
Hello silaslongshot, Yeah Fancy Heat is not the fuel of choice for sure. Sterno type stoves really are very useful for far more than just the sterno fuels. Thank you for watching and the info.
I used the Fancy Heat during a power outage to cook eggs and heat up some coffee I had cold brewed before the hurricane. It did its job. Well worth the $1 I paid for it. I've since ordered the Fancy Heat Green fuel from Amazon but have yet to try it out.
Recently bought a can with the wick by coughlan brand, looking into this since haven't tested them yet, some say that you can get more heat if you stretch the wick out a bit, if you leave it in a compressed condition this will slow it down. They say 8 hr run time, your fancy heat looks really simaler, so im not sure how. I have yet to even find the open top cans. But i would like to test them before going out in the woods, good idea 💡
I’m always late seeing the “good” videos! 😂 So the sterno is safe for indoor use? When is it not a good option? Also…what’s the brand of skillet you were frying the egg in?
Hello kathykidd, Yeah most of the sterno type fuels are safe to use indoors, but as with any type of stove/fire indoors you should have a carbon monoxide detector just in case something is not working properly. The skillet is a Lodge Carbon Steel Skillet. I put a link to it the description box. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi Bronzenbeauty. I get the Quickflame at the Dollar General Store. You can use any of the brands in the video indoors or outdoors. Thank you for watching.
I live in az i heard an emergency you can wrap your steak in foil and cook it under your hood above engine while you go for a drive. Don't recommend tho. At your own risk.
Hello mitch, Yep, alcohol heats much quicker than the sterno fuels, but one "fill up" doesn't last nearly as long as one sterno fuel. Thanks for watching!
That "simmering boil" is PERFECT for canned soups, ravioli and chili. If the power is out, sternos are an excellent option.

@@ChefPrepper yes. The key is to have as many options as possible. Take care and stay safe!

so can't control the heat correct? thks
Hello Rosanaprice,
Raising and lowering the pan/skillet/etc could be done, but would be pretty difficult.
I live in az i heard an emergency you can wrap your steak in foil and cook it under your hood above engine while you go for a drive. Don't recommend tho. At your own risk.
I have heard about such also, but have never tried it.
Try wrapping your stove with tin foil. It will make it hotter then you realize. Cause your loosing heat through the cracks.
Alcohol Stoves gives you quick boil time, but not longevity. I think if I wanted to cook something, Sterno, Boil Alcohol.
