This was originally called the Vauxhall Victor in the UK, at the time Vauxhall was owned by GM giving it a vaguely American look. It's a nice combination of American and European styling.

I sharpened my driving skills in this car in 1997. I made my license on a Mahindra Commander courtesy the motor training school. The Contessa which I drove had such poor brakes which needed to be pumped. And me a novice at the wheel managed that on a uphill stop start at the Malad Times of India signal. And to imagine the hill assist feature in today's cars, people are so handicapped nowadays.

Faisal the keys used to be turned 3 times to warm up the diesel. We used to do that in our 1st gen bolero glx too
