All I did was cut a small spacer "pre-load" from SS, aluminum, or copper pipe that is the same diameter as the fork spring. Remove the cap, install the pre-load piece, put the cap back on. I installed a 3/4" long piece in my Honda, and a 1/2" long piece in my Yamaha - still using stock springs in both bikes. No messing with removing the forks or changing oil. You may have to try different pre-load lengths on your bike depending on your weight and riding style. Stiffened the suspension just enough but still kept full travel on the forks.
For anyone in the future trying to get those C clips out of the fork I found a real easy way to do it with minimal tool and 1 person. All you need is the front axle, vice grip, and a pick. Clamp the fork in the bottom triple tree and use the front axle to push down into the "crater" of the cap to compress it. Then you can use a vice grip to clamp the axle bolt to the top triple tree. Its the perfect length and fairly easy to do alone. Doesn't require much fighting once you get the vice clamp the right size. Maybe there's a easier way, I just kind of winged it.
Nice video man! Looks really clean. Those things are really friggin' reliable!! I liked your video. If you got a moment, could you check out our channel? We rip pit bikes in the mud, drift cars, and have firework wars. Thanks dude! Keep up the dope content!
