I've used breathing techniques, hypnotherapy, progressive muscle relaxation, techniques from CBT and DBT, music compilations and the Calm Down box (where a selection of technique reminders are kept together in a shoe box ) for junior clients. Switching into another role I have found aromatherapy, reflexology and other massage techniques very effective in reducing anxiety for other clients.

highly recommend two books: Behave and Why Don't Zebras Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky. I believe knowledge is power and he explains extremely complex things that have to do with behavior in a light hearted yet impactful way so you can really know what is going on. None of that new age therapist nonsense with the yoga and coping techniques. Not until you understand what is going on in there on a fundamental level. You will be more intelligent and better equipped to handle stress in every form (anxiety, depression, anger, schizophrenia positive symptoms). I mean don't neglect your mental care and keep doing what works but become educated as you do so. Sam Harris has some good guided meditations on TH-cam as well, and meditation is actually studied as a long term solution to many mental health problems.

I teach students how the brain functions in the face of danger, stress and uncertainty making them more likely to try the mindfulness techniques and skills.
