The Blue Hole: Caribbean blue water in New Jersey!

  • I know we hate on New Jersey a lot but the Blue Hole is a pretty mind blowing place to check out! When most people think of NJ, they see cities, traffic, tall buildings, etc. but the Blue Hole is about as far from that as it gets! This "middle of nowhere" gem is a cool place to check out. The water looks like it belongs in the Caribbean and it almost seems too beautiful to be here! We mentioned it in the video but will repeat it one more time... do not swim here! It is very dangerous and many people have died here and at other blue hole locations. That being said, this is an amazing place to visit, enjoy the views, and wade in the shallow water. We hope you enjoy the video! Please subscribe to our TH-cam Channel and follow us on Instagram @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ :)

    Heading here today. Realized this one is not the official Blue Hole, but one near it!! This one looks like it’s off Cairns Mill Rd while the Blue Hole is about 10 minutes away off Pinney Hollow Rd and is much smaller. Excited to see the one in your video!!

    Adore the blue hole. We go a few times in the summer. We gotta walk those tracks and the bugs are brutal!

    It’s not the only fake “blue hole” in nj with the other one being in Monroe township coincidentally enough off exit 8a NJ Turnpike which you can see if you’re going southbound right before the exit and that is also a sand pit but it appears to be more active than this one.

    Wondering what that shadow the drone caught in the middle of the water looks like the lochness monster and in NJ I wouldn’t be surprised 😅

      I believe there's a crane in the water from the mining that used to be done

    Who owns this lake? I assume it's state land, right? It's to bad they don't do anything with it as far as it being a recreational spot for fishing and water sports and stuff. It's a shame they don't do the things they could do to make it safe to swim, at least in certain areas. They could put in docks and have designated areas, where the bottom has been checked and surveyed and the drop off points have been marked, where people are allowed to swim, and hire life guards. I wonder if anyone has made an attempt to get any of that stuff to happen.

      I think it’s state land! It would be cool if they did something to make this place accessible and safe, it’s so beautiful.

      @@HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ Actually, on second thought, after researching this more, I realized the reason they don't like people swimming in these so-called "blue hole" pits in NJ is because they're made of sand. The sand is unstable and gives way under people's feet. That's why it makes so many people drown. These are sandpits, not quarries. A rock quarry doesn't have this issue because it's made of solid rock. I'm actually researching this because I'm planning on doing a video on the Quarry Swim Club in Hopewell NJ this Saturday. It's one of the few quarries that was actually turned into a legal swim club instead of just being an attractive nuisance like so many other flooded quarries are.

      Michigan has lakes turquoise color, clear & blue, but you can swim in them. Torch is my favorite. That sucks you really can’t swim in this one. Pretty though!

    How close to the water can you park your car? Also can you float around the water or bring an inflatable boat and ride it there?

    • @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ
      @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is about .4 mile to get from your car to the blue hole! I don’t think you can float around in the water because there are “no swimming” signs everywhere, it is illegal to swim there. We just walked in the shallow water!

      You can park right beside it it if you go down piney hollow road there an entry to left . That’s if your coming off of 73. We parked right beside the water just go when the weather is good and hot or you’ll get stuck in the sand.

    Is it dangerous to swim there?

    • @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ
      @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Very dangerous and strongly suggest against it. One reason is due to the depth of the water that can go from knee or waist deep to 70’ deep in a matter of a few yards. On top of that the water temp varies greatly and if you hit one of the really cold areas your body could be over come by the cold and basically shuts down.

    So no kayaking then?

    • @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ
      @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We would say this, Kayak at your own risk. From what we are finding out the area is off limits so you could get hit with a trespassing fine. If you are willing to chance it we would recommend the usual safety precautions when kayaking like wearing a life jacket and such.

    Tell me you don’t know anything about Jersey without telling me you know nothing.
    This is in Manchester not Monroe 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ Pulling up any map would show you that Monroe isn’t even in south Jersey 🤣

    • @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ
      @HANDSTANDZnHANDCUFFZ  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This is not in Manchester, it’s in the Pinelands of Monroe Township in Gloucester County. There are two Monroes in NJ so maybe that’s why you are confused.

    I knew it was too good to be true to have something this nice in New Jersey! “The bottom is lined with garbage & the blue in the water is from all the Sulfur.” One of the many reasons why this is called the Garbage State! 😅
