Hi Justin. Learned a couple of songs from your videos back in 2012/2013. Was self taught. Took a break from 2017-2023 and decided to start from scratch using your beginner guitar course. Despite the beginner lessons being very easy for someone who played for a few years, I have improved so much. I can actually play with a pick now... I never could get it before (the slight 20 degree angle thing and a more flexible pick was needed). Strumming has improved a lot, my rhythm is better and I can learn new patterns a lot easier now. I owe this to your lessons (the only thing I was good at before was chord changes lol). I learned this song easily.. both versions and the strumming pattern. So a huge thanks!
This is one of my favourite songs to play. It was one of the first ones I learnt with barre chords. I never thought of the open strings as an advanced feature; it just comes naturally with "sloppy" chord changes!
Justin, I’ve been watching and learning from you for over 8 years and I can’t say enough about how improved you are as a singer. This song is a challenge and you pulled it off brother. 👏🏻
@@AdaptivePhenix Justin's singing has improved. He will even acknowledge that he's not Pavarotti or Robert Plant. That said this is a "guitar" lesson channel, not a singing demonstration channel. No matter, he gives his best in what he does.
@@pvtts05 Hey, I'm a _huge_ Justin fan but I also tell it straight. The singing was part of the _guitar_ lesson but by no-means good and it didn't need to be. Example: "I scream at the top of my lungs; what's going on" was all mono-tone. No drive, no passion...listen to the original. But it doesn't matter because it's about guitar.
Just found you and subscribed. Brilliant stuff! I would love to see what you could do with Phil Keaggy's A Royal Commandment and Sunday School from his Ph'lip Side album.
Wow, amazing bit about the open strings during transitions! As a beginner that was only learning this song the easy way with capo I was always wondering how they do that cool transition on the original recording. Turns out it's that simple! (well, except that you gotta do bar chords across the board xD) Thank you Justin for a great tutorial again!
Man I've always loved this song. Gotta add this to my bonfire tunes! I seem to be adding more & more 90s tunes to that. Another fun one to play is Run Around by Blues Traveler. Easy chords, over & over, just crazy fast strumming & changes. 90s fans who are beginners, another fun one to play is Last Kiss by Pearl Jam. Love it when you do tunes I know :)
Hey thanks for the video! But I am a bit confused to play it along with the app song version - it uses the same chords but without capo, so the sound is completely different...

Ive been a beginner since 2014. I like to call myself a novice player, who knows barre chords. Will be cool to add this to my to learn list, thanks for the lesson!

I cant see which strings and what fingers you are playing and this is very hard for me to understand without diagrams of the strings and fret placement so for that reason I'm out...
The nuances here are irrelevant. This song, like most, is about the vocals. No point in having a perfect guitar rendition when the vocalist can't sing for shite. And most can't.
Watch until the end before making you comment. Capos can be used to change the tune in the same key. That matters on however a person sings and tone of singing voice

Justin did it again. A marvellous teacher...and talented also. World doesn't deserve a man like this

Isn't it just A, Bm, D, without the capo? Many thanks for the video.
Thanks Justin, this video gave me a big jump forward.
Justin your work is amazing, I am learning soo much with you. Thank you!
I was just listening to this song, perfect timing

You're an amazing teacher Justin, so useful so clear thanks a lot

No! That was horrible, he's singing from his voice box, no power.
@AdaptivePhenix please upload you singing this. I would love to hear it.

STFU!
Kudos for pointing out the variation of strumming in the first bar. All the other tutorials i have seen don't even mention it. Quality tutorial.
Nice job on a cool song thanks Justin!
Justin, thanks for what you do. In the last few weeks I have gone from the Mama's and Papa's, to Robert Johnson and now this. Love ya man!
Your teaching style is second to none. I was wondering if you could do River of Deceit by Mad Seasons.
Beautifully done, Justin!! Always loved this song!!
Justin...thanks for the lesson. You are a great teacher. I was wondering which groove app you are talking about. Thanks mate!
Hello Justin, and Thanks for all of yours tutorials. I will can learn several songs. You're the best teacher. 😊

lol. I learned the song from the spiral-bound Justin beginner songbook. The book didn’t clarify that the A-Bm-D-A has the D-A as non-barre chord. 😊
Good Job ! !😉👍Like 7

@@mandyb0725 sorry about that last reply, I thought I was commenting on a different video 😂
On the Guitar you are always perfect but on Vocals i think you killed it a little bit...👍😉👌

Holy sh!t I woke up with this in in my head just about an hour ago, guess I'm meant to learn it
How to get a copy of your beautiful albumd
When I try the barre chords it sounds terrible on the guitar. Not muting it just sounds nothing like that. Anybody help?

The original, before it got memed to death 🤙
why does the beginning of this song sound like "Don't worry, Be Happy"?

Break out the Dr. Zeus hat.

G Am and C mate
You can literally see everything clear as day in the first portion of the video lol. You hardly even need to watch the rest. Learn to read fingers
Too much talking, only play!@
I’ve watch four non blondes multiple live performances and she never uses a capo.
She played A Bmin D back to A

That's the wrong key! A major, B minor and D major, no capo
So exactly what he played then? Are you thick or something?
Did you watch it until the end? He shows the bar chords and A & D
Well he has maintained the key of a thanks to the capo. His version sounds more airy and open. FTR, I play the original way.
The original way is on the video after the capo version@@AdaptivePhenix
