  • The last train to cross the Tarwin River bridges was loaded with rail recovered from Meeniyan to the loading point which was three kilometres on the Leongatha side of Meeniyan. We see the train being loaded and then see it crossing two of the Tarwin River timber trestle bridges with a locomotive on each end of the train. The train is later seen on the steep climb into Leongatha with the P class which was then leading, making hard work of the situation. At Leongatha, the H class at the rear was placed on the front of the train. We then follow the train further towards Melbourne. Soon after, heavy rains in South Gippsland caused the Tarwin River to flood and we take a walk on one of the bridges before the rail was removed. We see recovered rail being dragged across the middle of the three Tarwin River bridges by a rail/road tractor previously obtained by the contractors. The next video shows the rails being removed and dragged from the middle bridge before being dragged to the next collection point at Koonwarra.
