Very sad. No Victorian should ever have let this happen. that line has so much meaning and history. How come Bairnsdale has a train service but Leongatha & Yarram don't? Whats the difference?
It gets so much worse. When I was young they closed the line to Whittlesea. It has been desperately needed for decades. They closed the outer circle railway which is clearly needed again. It is horrendously expensive to put them back again. The part from Cranbourne through Tooradin to Kooweerup are rapidly becoming built up. Whatever the fate of the rest of the line pulling up these stretches is an expensive mistake. They will need to be replaced eventually but at an horrendous cost.
A rail job done on the cheap , minimal equipment & labour still got it done though . Compare that to what you see on the Melbourne line upgrades today ? Job well done & thanks for posting .
This is like watching a bungled execution. Something that was once valuable, even essential, being painstakingly being completely destroyed. With no possibility of ever being restored to use.
What an interesting thing to record. ...a part of the history of this railway..... sad to see though... I remember being on a Steamrail trip to Stony Point
Fon Jet, yes, absolutely. It went from Dandenong via Cranbourne, through Korumburra and Leongatha. On through Fish Creek and Foster. Then a branch. One way to Port Albert and the other to Yarram, Wron Wron and ending at Woodside. Some of it is now a bike path. Including at Fish Creek
Take a bow,Jeff Kennett - this is part of your handiwork.

This is the #1 line in Victoria that I can think of that should never have been closed and removed. Especially between Cranbourne and Leongatha
Nah can't watch this...........its bloody shameful!
😥
My mum lives in fishcreek is this the line that become a push bike track now ?

sad that history has to be scraped out.
should have kept the rails on the bridge and put up a sign listing the history or the rails there.
Now gone for good.
