Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett came from fairly middle class familes not hugely wealthy but in there comedy they understood the working class man with the help of Barry Cryer from their writing team.Ronnie Barker also wrote the "Four Candles" sketch one of the greatest comedy sketches in the world GOB BLESS 'EM.
You were correct in saying they were comedic geniuses as that they indeed were and are severely missed too! I have been watching them on Goldately and they never swear or curse I any way just like the King of Comedians Ken Dodd whose stage show used to go on for about 5-6 hours each night guaranteed he would overrun by hours. The stage hands used to both love and hate him at the same time for that very reason. The audiences always got their moneys worth and then some! That is a true story about Ken Dodd too as I used to know one of the Stage Managers who told me about it the week Ken was playing Nottingham Theatre Royal.
I went to see him at Eastbourne. A few people crept out around 11, my wife and I had to leave about midnight because my parents were babysitting. I didn’t stop laughing all evening but struggled to remember any of his jokes the following day.
'Dreaded lurgi' is a very well-known joke from another comedy bunch of an earlier generation known as 'The Goon Show'. An episode called 'Lurgi Strikes Britain'. Easily found. 'Dreaded Corgi' her majesty's favourite dogs, and the 'dreaded Fergie': Sarah Ferguson, recently married into the royal family.
You say blurting out the most ridiculous things but they at the time and also something that would have been said, even now too between two men in a pub! Lol Therefore predictive rather than totally out there. But I also got quite a few responses correct and so accurate too! lol
I'm just having a pink Gin with blue berries and raspberries so I will make a toast to you and the late Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, I hope that you have a prosperous and happy Christmas and new year, and I hope that the two Ronnie's are resting in peace, thank you
Happy Xmas beautiful🤗after porridge Ronnie starred in "going straight"a series about his life after prison.also starred Richard beckinsale as the daughters(ingrid) boyfriend. Hadn't seen it since the 70's but binged it all on youtube few months ago.although it was deemed a bit of a flop(how can you compare with porridge?)I still found it funny but less characters to make it even better.but it was still fletch, the working man's hero who still kept 1 step ahead of the system😂porridge also did 2 full length films with all the old crew.other old English comedies to check out are Pete & dud.& Steptoe & son
Can I suggest British actor Brian Blesseds host appearance on quizshow Have I Got News For You. Either the whole show or the best bits. Very much a larger than life person, and very funny.
TRY AND SEE THEIR DANCING & SINGING TO POPULAR COUNTRY MUSIC, AMONG PRO DANCERS AND MUSICIANS , AS EXPECTED, THEIR WORDS ARE FULL OF RUDE DOUBLE MEANINGS. tHEY WERE SO, TALLENTED.

Always a masterclass in comic timing . Ronnie Barker often seems to get the plaudits for this but Ronnie Corbett was more than his equal.

Superb.
I think Barker was meant to say foreman but said tables, so losing the inversion, and it was remarked on.
Always a pleasure Megan great channel happy Christmas 💙👍

Yes! This is like predictive text before we had predictive text - predictive speech perhaps.
The character names in this sketch are Harry and Bert - Charlie is the barman.

Think I'm right in saying this was another of Ronnie Barker's pieces. A lot of the best ones were.
Good to go back to some real comedy.
There’s an even better Bert & Charlie sketch on another video website called D***yM****n. If this comment gets deleted 😡!
