The best aspect of this whole movie is every single setup is paid off or called back to at the end of the movie. Having the same conversation with the same people in a different context and being asked if he's ever done different things only to have them both do all the things. Perfection.

In case no one mentioned it, Angel's girlfriend, with the beautiful eyes, is Kate Blanchett. Also, Father Christmas, who was on screen for less than a second, was Peter Jackson. Yes , the director of The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit was also disguised beyond recognition.

Always worth mentioning that the Blanchett cameo was a subtle f-you to the studio. Wright was asked to put more big names in the movie (ironically given that they already had a former James Bond and the villains were a veritable who's who of British theatre and movie greats), so they put in a cameo where the big name actor was mostly disguised.

When they were casting for the film, they wanted an actor with the acting chops of ex-James Bond, Timothy Dalton. After much deliberation, someone suggested they ask TD himself, apparently, after reading the script he signed up straightaway. He's quoted as saying he's never had a better time on set, and even turned up one early morning when they were filming Simon Peggs prospective of a scene between them, so Simon would have someone to react with. There're two Oscar winning actresses in it, Cate Blanchett and Olivia Colman, it's stuffed full of actors from Game of Thrones and Harry Potter, Billie Whitelaw, the hotel owner (hag) was the main villain in one of the original horror films "The Omen", Paul Freeman, the vicar/clergyman/priest is the main villain from "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Edward Woodward, the chairman of the NWA was the original "Equaliser" from the US tv series, and was the original "Wicker Man", decades before Nicholas Cage had a try at it, fun fact, his last line "oh god no" in this, is exactly the same line as it is in the Wicker Man.

You missed one of the biggest names from this movie: Bill Bailey, known for his role as Manny on Black Books, but probably best known for being Bill f***ing Bailey. Also there's David Bradley who, among other things I'm definitely not going to mention (due to a curse from an evil witch), played The Doctor in a couple episodes of Doctor Who (as well as different Doctors in a few other Doctor Who related media).

This film has been praised by the police for its accurate portrayel of the amount of paperwork involved.
The village judges were played by simon and nicks parents.
Originally there was going to be a love interest for Angel but then they cut the character and gave most of the lines to Danny which is why some scenes look more intimate than just friends.

This film tends to be people's favorite of the trilogy, and from a technical standpoint, absolutely perfects the Wright genre-comedy formula. The last one, "The World's End," takes the tools and techniques solidified here and uses them to actually try to say something real; for this reason, it doesn't lean as hard into the entertainment factor, but it also makes it my personal favorite.

Edward Woodward, the cult elder named Tom Weaver, played the out of town detective sent to investigate a string of rural murders in the classic 1973 horror film The Wicker Man. His casting in this adds another level of irony. Woodward also starred in the 1980 film Breaker Morant, about a political court martial during one of the Boer wars. It ran on cable quite a lot in the early eighties earning itself a fan following in the process. That led to Woodward starring role in four seasons of the original television series The Equalizer, which has since turned into a Denzel Washington film series and a Queen Latifah television series which also ran four seasons. Also, did you notice that Detective Sergeant Andy Wainwright bears a striking resemblance to King Viserys I Targaryen in House of the Dragon?

28:52 This line is the heart of the movie. It might not always be clear to people unfamiliar with a particular sort of English rural culture, but the whole thing is an utterly brilliant satire on the obsessive pettiness of village life. It's genius! Also, I went to school in Bristol and I heard that West Country accent a lot. For me, it makes it even funnier...

Check out the songs playing as Dalton drives past. Dire Straights "Romeo & Juliet". Arthur Brown "Fire".
Bill Bailey plays both desk officers, one with curly hair, one without. One reads a book by Iain M. Banks, the other a book by Iain Banks. Same author - his fiction was under the name Iain Banks, his science fiction under the name Iain M. Banks.
The Hotel owner shoots ACROSS the street shouting "Fascist". Angel shoots the flower basket which drops DOWN onto her head "Hag".
This film is full of subtle touches that you only spot after watching it multiple times...

The Cornetto comes from th part that one person thought a cornetto in the morning was a good hangover cure, and thats why ed asked for it, it only linked because of the colour red cornetto for zombies, blue for the police, , and green is the last, now there is another unofficial pegg and frost movie called Paul. Notice angles number is 777, they wanted a timothy dalton type to play skinner but then someone said why not ask him.

bonus trivia, Mr Treacher's actor, Tim Barlow, was a seasoned firearms expert, so seasoned that he lost his hearing when testing a new rifle for the British Army in the 1950s

    Oh, that's Lurch.

So, actor Rafe Spall, who played the obnoxius young employee of Foree Electronics store where Shaun worked in SotD, was one of the 'Andys' and he's a great actor. If you saw the first Christmas episode of "Black Mirror" he's in that with John Hamm, as well as other great films and TV series. Then, Paddy Considine, who played the other Andy (with the biggest moustache), is an amazing actor and he's in "The Worlds' End" - part 3 of the Cornetto trilogy - and recently turned in a stunning performance as Viserys in "The House of the Dragon". He also directed a movie that's a drama (with a hard D) called "Tyrannosaur" starring the Queen that is Olivia Colman, who was Police Office Doris in this film. It's a hard watch about domestic violence and also featured Eddie Marsen who is also in "The World's End" and was in "Deadpool 2" and plenty of other great films.
You should definitely watch all of Edgar Wright's films. "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and "Baby Driver" are both so great, and while I didn't immediately love his first foray out of comedy, the giallo-inspired horror/suspense film "Last Night in Soho", it's still a really good film, incredibly shot and directed, as always.

@@dougoneill7266 - Haha, not bored but had to grab a work call and sent the comment before I finished. Yes, moving on, so many of the NWA (that in itself is a funny play on the rap/hip hop group NWA with means something very different) have been in well-known films. Billie Whitelaw, who played Joyce who ran the inn, was in the 1976 horror classic "The Omen"; Edward Woodward starred in "The Wicker Man" which is widely considered as the greatest folk horror film of all-time; and Paul Freeman played Belloq, Indiana Jones' nemesis in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Also ...
"Hot Fuzz" was shot in Edgar Wright's hometown of Wells and he has a brief cameo as a trolley boy in the supermarket when he walks across the frame quickly pushing a tall stack of groceries going to the shelves. He worked in a supermarket in town when he was young, although I can't remember if it was the same one they shot in. Also ...
In addition to Cate Blanchett's great cameo as Janine, the guy who played Bob - who does not look like the type of guy that she would go out with - was played by film director Joe Cornish, who wrote and directed the criminally underrated and sadly little known horror/sci-fi/action/comedy film, "Attack the Block", which also featured Nick Frost in a small part, along with pre-Star Wars John Boyega and the brilliant Jodie Whittaker from "Broadchurch" and "Dr. Who" (she was the 13th Doctor and the first female Doctor in the show's history).

The Cornetto Trilogy is not a single connected story. Each movie is a separate story with different characters. All three are directed by Edgar Wright, and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and sometimes sharing other cast members. They share the same comedic style while different comedies. It's more an anthology than a trilogy.

The third movie is very good, too. Maybe not as entertaining but just as tightly scripted and, for me and (from reading comments to other reaction videos) for many others, The World's End has a pretty deep emotional resonance. It's the movie that made me notice Paddy Considine. I got to like the actor so much, I even tried to watch House of the Dragon for him. Sadly, I fell out of love with the GoT universe many years ago and HotD didn't change my feelings, so I haven't watched your reactions ot it and I don't know if watching the actor who played King Viserys is a big draw for you. I hope you will enjoy the third movie of the Cornetto trilogy. I'm sure I'll enjoy your reaction to it.

When you're done with the Cornetto trilogy, be sure to check out Paul. Another great comedy with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and, in my opinion, much funnier than The World's End. The only thing that could make it better is if they added in a Cornetto!

I didn't love "Paul" on first watch but I figured out it was because it wasn't directed by Edgar Wright so I wasn't used to see Simon & Nick in a film without Edgar's signature directing/editing style. On subsequent viewings it's really funny with other great comedy actors like Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, and Kristen Whig. Still don't like it as much as the Cornetto Trilogy, but a fun watch for sure.

The movie does a great job at misdirecting. At first you are practilly told Skinner (played by James Bond Timothy Dalton in a scene stealing performance) is the culprit, then you think: "Nahhhhh, too obvious." just to discover that he was indeed guilty (though as part of a conspiracy).
This may be my favorite of the trilogy.
The World's End has another James Bond actor (Pierce Brosnan).

🤦‍♂You know, time was, police work was generally understood to revolve around _paperwork._ You got good with your sidearm, because it was a tool of the job, but you also got good with your pen, because that was an arguably more _important_ tool of the job. The understanding was that you wielded the pen right, today, and you wouldn't have to reach for your gun, _tomorrow._ Forward thinking. Foresight, because _preventing_ a crime, _before_ it's committed, is indisputably more important than catching the criminal _after_ it's committed.
If you'll pardon the metaphor, every dime spent on _vaccines_ can save you ten bucks on _cures._
