      Oh thanks so much! That’s really nice to hear 😄 I never used to think I had a good voice for narration tbh but I guess it’s the way I read. We’re all about seeing countries for what they truly are and not just what you hear in the media so we like to portray this true experience of these places in our videos ☺️

    Great video guys as usual, we're definitely going to make the effort to visit Kosovo but we'll save it until after March 2021 when it's not ridiculously cold! That part of road you had to squeeze through was actually terrifying to watch - you guys are very brave, I think we'd have just pulled over and made a cuppa until they'd moved :-)

    You mention how different ethnic and religious groups appear to get on well. That is good to hear. I was working in a mine in Australia when the civil wars broke out in former Yugoslavia in 1990. There were a number of men who were either born in Yugoslavia or who's parents were. They were all best of mates as most people tend to be in isolated communities. You have to be.
    Within days of the conflict breaking out they divided into two groups; those identifying with Serbia and those with Croatia. They stopped speaking to eachother. They tried to get the rest of us to take their side. It was both a sad and unexpected state of affairs to witness.
    Later I got to know a couple who had met in Belgrade which, like any capital city, attracted people from all over the country. He was a Serb, she a Croatian, although both had Hungarian as their first language. Their families and friends ostracised them. Their young children were bullied at school.
    I even knew a woman who was brought into the conflict due to her surname; which she had because of being married to a man who's grandfather was Yugoslavian! And this was in Australia!
    I really enjoy your videos. They're very professionally made and give a contemporary impression of an area I know little about. Many thanks for all your work and long may they continue. It's also nice seeing the Convoy giving good service, and of course, the Cornish flag on the back!
    I've subscribed and will work my way through your videos.
    Greetings from St Austell.
    Where are you both from?

    • @FromRustToRoadtrip
      @FromRustToRoadtrip  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes in Kosovo it's very refreshing to see. It's interesting that you could observe these tensions even halfway across the globe. There are still tensions we've noticed between countries here, sometimes petty rivalries but sometimes a lot more. The conflict between Serbia and Kosovo being a prime example as it stretches beyond just politics into people's daily lives (i.e. every time we post something about Kosovo we get backlash online from Serbian keyboard warriors). But then we witnessed Serbs and Kosovans and Albanians and Roma all working together in a radio station in Pristina, so not everyone feels so strongly about the subject.
      Thank you for the lovely feedback about our videos too! Always repping Cornwall and the LDV haha. You're not too far from us, we're from the Redruth area 🤙

    Really beautiful collage of cultures and the contrasts elevate them all. Very impressive and many lessons to be learnt. You've captured their essence again, painted a mural of a gentle proud and strong society. A lot to take in, looking forward to the documentary too, but I'd not hesitate to visit. You have definitely given them a voice and showed the world what can happen when our humanity prevails. A gem in your catalog no doubt.

    These mosques used to be quiet a few years back, a big portion of Kosovars dont even like the constant singing (very secular) but cities are allowing them to blast songs full on. Which isn't the nicest thing to hear at 6 in the morning lol. But then again this is Prizren and theyre pretty religious over there, so this probably doesn't apply over there.

    Really enjoying your videos, very refreshing. Would be interested to know whether you head for the rougher roads or that is just the country.
    You often mention SIM cards, but what phone do you use?
    Could you also put a route map to see the actual roads.
    Keep producing the videos and don’t change the content.

    • @FromRustToRoadtrip
      @FromRustToRoadtrip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a guilty pleasure of ours to seek out the worst and most remote roads we can get our van to drive on, we love the adventure of it and it’s made us realise our next van will certainly be a 4x4.
      Truthfully, most of the bad roads we take aren’t main routes to anywhere particular and many of the major roads are better, they just don’t excite us as much and we tend not to film them.
      We just use a regular iPhone with a local sim which provides hugely cheaper data packages than the UK would let us use in non EU countries.
      We’ve got a rough route map on our website that details our vague direction from start to finish but it’s impossible to get it completely accurate and many of the fun roads we end up taking don’t even show up on there.
      Thanks for following along pleased you like the content 🙂

    Gypsies - pajoritive? A people gain identity by place, state, borders etc. Travelers, vanlifers, Gypsies, very difficult (maybe lazy) to call people by the name they want to be called when you don't have any reference points. Saying Gypsies is pajoritive turns contact into a minefield. This is not me having a go at you. You are making a video and many say it's negative, but I have no idea what to call these people unless they have a known identity and they are a very fractured cultures. I am Welsh-born British, but I hate what England and Wales has become. This is a pretty bad way to feel when you are 59yrs old, given that Brexit is really a UK trade war against the EU. Anyway, I rant too much. Great video, you two are up there as some of the very best at what you do. I must say that I'm a little precious of my van & I'm not sure I could subject it to those road conditions. I am planning to upgrade the rear leaf springs and put on a set of serious tyres, so who knows what I will do.👍

    • @FromRustToRoadtrip
      @FromRustToRoadtrip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, I totally understand your point. It gets more confusing too, we’ve met Romani people previously who refer to themselves as gypsy. Same goes for Irish travellers too. Some use the term and some hate it. It’s such a hard thing to try and get our heads around but we just tend to go with whatever preference people have that we meet along the way. Keeps it simple.
      We also don’t like what England has become and are looking for an exit plan in the future to find a country we resonate more deeply with. It’s sad to feel so disconnected from our roots but we just don’t feel like we fit in with England or English culture.
      Cheers for the comment, always keen to open up a debate. 😃🙏🚐

      It was just a random encounter whilst out and about but you're completely right. We think the same about more context and we've improved on that in the videos we're working on right now. Stick with us.
      It's hard for us to pronounce everything correctly, but our apologies if it isn't up to your standard. I'm sure you are aware it can be difficult to pronounce foreign place names if you aren't from the area or even the country! But we do try our best.
