I'm primarily and firmly a Reaper user in 2022, but I do have other needs for Pro Tools from time to time, just wanted to say this channel and the relevant tips are great, thank you for this.

The numbering of the markers is a great idea--STEAL!. Question about changing the set up element, in this example the Display Marker Colours: Question: Once you choose the preference change will it always be this in future NEWLY created projects? Or does a template need to be created that has the preference selections chosen for future projects?

Haha, sweet! I'm glad you like it! So: I know if you change it to Always Display Marker Colors within a session, and then you save and close as usual and go to create a brand new session, then it should keep that preference active for your new session. However, I think if you then go open an old session that didn't have Always Display Marker Colors checked off when it was last saved, then it will open with just grey between the markers, because it's remembering how that existing session was saved. I think the rule is that it will maintain whatever setting you had for the previous sessions - and if you want to be sure, then before you create a new session, you can go to Setup > Preferences and make sure that Always Display Marker Colors is checked off (and you can do that without a session open yet at all, once you open Pro Tools). I probably wouldn't create a template just for that one setting, since once you get a preference, you'll probably just stick with it and then not think about it much. But, templates are always helpful if you have other features/track settings that you'd like to load up quickly. I hope that helps! Let me know if that answers the question - hope you're doing well!

@@CatoNoise Yep that answers the question. I recon doing a "what preferences should you have ON" for a new session may be interesting to do. Thanks for the thoughts!

Im having a Marker Issue Lately. My marker naming window doesn't open when I use enter while playback, Is there a setting I am missing?

I would give your plant name "Platy". Why? You have mentioned that you bought it in hardware store, which makes me think about metals, and since plate reverb is about letting go sound through metal sheet, I would go with Platy as name :-D

Working on a big audiobook editing session where I have many markers set. Noticed while I was editing that ALL the markers I had set (50-100 of them) are gone, disappeared. Not in the Memory Locations window either.
Can't find any info online about this! Can someone help? This is a nightmare for my workflow as I've lost important places i need to go back and edit as well as my overview of chapters. Thanks!

Since they're not in the memory locations window either, you might have accidentally deleted them. Have you checked your session file backups to see if they're there in a recently saved version?

If they are, then you should be able to go to your current edit, and go file>import>session data, select the session file backup you want (that has the memory locations) and then check off markers/memory locations. Good luck, and lmk how it goes!
