    Kix is possibly the most underrated band ever. Steve Whiteman was an amazing showman with a voice that was perfect for rock music. If you never saw this band live, you missed out on an experience that truly was the embodiment of 80s hair metal. 53 years old and still listen every day! 🤟🏻

      They still put on a hell of a show. Saw them in Louisville a few years back opening for Vince Neil. They blew Vince out of the water, no surprise.

      They still rock today!
      I saw them late 2019 for my 1st time. I've loved this band since their 1st album came out (I think 1981.)
      Amazing concert!!! They rock!
      I'm going to see them again( late 2021)
      in Harrisburg PA. at ClubXL.
      Go see them if you can🤘 👍

      I agree 100% with that statement!! I used to see them all the time at the Bayou in DC and Hammer Jacks in Baltimore. I am 53 also, went to high skool in Maryland and they were the shit back in the day! Awesome live band, gritty, raw and all rock and roll!!! Great times at those shows!!!!

    Kix is living proof that the record label decides who gets big and who falls into obscurity. They had the perfect sound, look, and great songs at the right time but got almost no radio play outside of Don't Close Your Eyes.

    • @johncate9541
      @johncate9541 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Which was maybe the worst song on that album!
      Record labels don't know squat about anything. The fact Kix is still around and selling tickets 34 years after this came out is all that needs to be said.

      You're 100% right. Everything was perfect with Kix that _should_ have made them a household name. They had the sound. They had the hooks. They had the talent. They just didn't suck the correct record company dick to be really big.

    • @BleevesCrypto
      @BleevesCrypto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because the lead singer was an uggo in the era of the pretty boys. They strayed too close to being genuine in a genre that required a lot of pomp in how you presented yourself. Look around at the uggos who made it. They played to the crowds and "prettied up"

    • @bobross1829
      @bobross1829 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could say the same thing about bands like Tesla too. There was a lot of competition back then. The 80's were basically one huge hit every week every year of the decade. The "huge" bands like Guns and Roses and Def Leppard and Bon Jovi definitely took a lot of the air out of the room for good groups like this.

    Best thing was you only had to be 18 to drink in DC, 21 in Virginia where I lived in Dale City nowhere.

      @@arkangel7j Lol as long as you don't get mad as people always fight about lists! No matter how a list shapes out, somebody will say "Oh that ranking sucks, that band sucks and that song is overrated. And the song by my favorite band should be way higher."
      Our list was based on sales, billboard, how iconic it was, how it holds up today, critical acclaim, how influential it was, etc.
      15 - Your Gone Wild - Skid Row
      14 - Sweet Child - GnR
      13 - Dr. Feelgood - Motley
      12 - Cherry Pie - Warrant
      11 - Smooth Up In Ya - BulletBoys
      10 - Shout at the Devil - Motley
      9. Still of the Night - Whitesnake
      8. 18 and Life - Skid Row
      7. Pour Some Sugar - Def Leppard
      6. Livin' On a Prayer - Bon Jovi
      5. Hurricane - Scorpions
      4. Round and Round - Ratt
      3. Cum on Feel the Noise - Quiet Riot
      2. Photograph - Def Leppard
      1. Welcome to the Jungle - GnR
      Now if it was our personal "favorite" songs, the list would look much MUCH different lol.
      We put out a hair metal book that has a ranking of the top 1,000 hair metal songs and top 350 hair metal albums. Those lists have way more great songs that aren't just the songs you've already heard a billion times. Deeper cuts, less popular bands like Junkyard, Dangerous Toys, Tora Tora, Femme Fatale, Cinderella and so on.

      The whole "hair metal" narrative was nothing more than a lemming type of pile-on that was started by a goofy "fad" mentality that made it popular to dislike "hair metal".
      Most all those bands back then were VERY good musicians, regardless of any look or marketing they were doing.
      The hair metal tag or glam metal or whatever was a stupid pissing match sparked by the stupidest people on earth,....teens.
      It never had anything to do with music, ..be it good or bad.
      But the butt of the jokes just happened to be ironically great musicians.
      The same posturing over image came right behind it (squashed it actually) with the grunge...They were "great" because they weren't hair metal....Well obviously, once again, it had nothing to do with music because unlike the "hair metal" mostly being made up of great musicians,..Nirvana and the like, were mostly horrible musicians that sounded like they were still in their first year of picking up their instruments.
      It was unbelievable.

The best "grunge" bands (horrible media term once again) were fantastic musicians: Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, etc. Sure, Kurt wasn't a technical guitarist, but if he played in an 80s style band, he would likely have a 2nd guitarist for leads. They don't know what they're missing man. I'm 33 and I grew up at the tail end of when rock and metal was still mainstream. Now seems like most kids today only like rap. I like early 90s rap but the crap they pass for music today...my God. 🤮 We used to make fun of guys like Limp Bizkit. But now he sounds pretty good compared to modern rap. I'm starting to sound...old. 😔😅

    I remember the exact location I was at when I first heard that intro. I was like wtf was that. I ordered this cassette that night from Columbia House. The most underrated band of the 80’s/90’s/&Today.......
