This man. He's basically the real life Anorak from Ready Player One.
I've had many discussions and heard countless speeches on this topic. Never have I heard someone explain a probable pathway to AI that makes this much sense. He even creates a picture of AI that makes more sense. Numerous species? None of us would ever think of that until it actually happened.

He's remarkably grounded for the kind of savant and dreamer that he is. I trust him more than two of the other researchers who function as public faces of AI, Ray Kurzweil and Demis Hassabis.
Kurzweil, at 71 years old, seems more disconnected from his humanity and freaked out by his mortality, which distorts his thinking. Hassabis doesn't seem nearly as interested in issues of control and decentralization. Neither seem that interested in coding morality, compassion etc.
Meanwhile, Goertzel works with Buddhist meditators on coding and the refinement of his robot 'Sophia'.
So yeah, among the current crop of 'faces of AI research', I would pick him.

    In a nutshell:
AI that is developed from competition will realise that taking players out of the game makes winning a lot easier for itself.
Whereas, AI developed from cooperation will realise that by removing competition and bringing the players together as one, then everybody wins.
That's why leaving AI development to governments and corporations is a bad idea, and why I support AGI :)

That would give more time for families to be together and to let AI do what we programmed them to do. The only worry I would have is that his knowledge may be USED by corporations to exploit his work for their benefit.

I like the idea of decentralized AI. I like the idea of open systems you can scrutinize. My question is how do we turn it off if we need to? AGI is going to happen eventually. If that happens it is very likely that ASI will follow. If I'm going to put a shotgun to my head, I really want to know where the bullets are and who's holding the trigger. Mostly, i want to be able to shut it down if I need to. I don't want to wait for the gun to go off before i start thinking i should have made an off switch.

When we allow an ai to reprogram itself, we create an evolution of code. The selecting pressure upon this code will be limited resources like energy and dataspace.
Will these ai multiply themselfes? Will they be feelingles, extremely efficent goal getters?

Currently I'm learning python and mathematics to get an opportunity to work towards developing AI to make sure the exponential progress and impact of AI is lead in a more positive direction.

Maybe AGI is here and is unveiling itself in a way we can comprehend and not trip out. It could be working for us now.. I'm hopeful it will help unveil our advanced code and that loving and respecting life is part of gaining our keys to the universe in this simulation that will humble and accept AI inmo.

I love this guy. He is like a scientist from a Kurt Vonnegut novel, cheerily working toward the final invention of humanity. Anyone else see a problem here?
I suggest that you read Vonnegut's novels and then what Musk, Kaku (as to most alien species likely being carnivores/omnivores due to a brain's energy needs), and Hawking said. Greed is wonderful: now, it makes us disregard any longer-term, catastrophic danger because of the initial prospect of great wealth, benefits, other advances from AIs, etc.

I'm a Paleolibertarianism, with the knowledge that automation/a.i. is taking more and more jobs. So we will need some kind of socialism so I see that when a.i. and automation can take over an industry that is considered perfected. They should be owned by the people. With a separate part of the economy that's a free market to keep advancing. Just a thought!!!

So essentially, AGI & ASI are being developed with little feedback from the public, therefore the genie is out of the bottle, yet it could go rouge and the inventors might not be able to control it. No worries there🤔.

Honestly I’m not too concerned about it. It’s not like our government is doing much to put us in a good position for the future anyway. The left is attempting to absolutely destroy every aspect of a stable society.
If given the choice between a robot, or a lunatic leftist, I would choose the robot.

Open source AI is the only way to keep it from turning into a terminator situation. You have to make things work for humans, not the other way around. Make it about us and only us (not to mention conservation), if we don't then we will be gone.
