    This man. He's basically the real life Anorak from Ready Player One.
    I've had many discussions and heard countless speeches on this topic. Never have I heard someone explain a probable pathway to AI that makes this much sense. He even creates a picture of AI that makes more sense. Numerous species? None of us would ever think of that until it actually happened.

      He's remarkably grounded for the kind of savant and dreamer that he is. I trust him more than two of the other researchers who function as public faces of AI, Ray Kurzweil and Demis Hassabis.
      Kurzweil, at 71 years old, seems more disconnected from his humanity and freaked out by his mortality, which distorts his thinking. Hassabis doesn't seem nearly as interested in issues of control and decentralization. Neither seem that interested in coding morality, compassion etc.
      Meanwhile, Goertzel works with Buddhist meditators on coding and the refinement of his robot 'Sophia'.
      So yeah, among the current crop of 'faces of AI research', I would pick him.

      Seriously this notion that economics or even just "progress" in general being completely decoupled from a concept of justice or morality is absolute nonsense. Also _"coincidentally"_ a good way to keep people pacified in serving a ruling class.

    Jaques Fresco would have loved this man And would have collaborated with him on many projects to take away the silly jobs that humans do not want to have. That would give more time for families to be together and to let AI do what we programmed them to do. The only worry I would have is that his knowledge may be USED by corporations to exploit his work for their benefit.

    In a nutshell:
    AI that is developed from competition will realise that taking players out of the game makes winning a lot easier for itself.
    Whereas, AI developed from cooperation will realise that by removing competition and bringing the players together as one, then everybody wins.
    That's why leaving AI development to governments and corporations is a bad idea, and why I support AGI :)

    Very insightful. Open systems that allow close scrutiny of what is going on "under the lid" with a thinking machine is IMHO the way to go! This will evolve the field and allow creative input from the community. The idea of a powerful secretive AI project reaching human levels makes me lose sleep. Let we be wise in the ways of science.

    I always find it quite backwards when people say “they will see us as a threat to the planet and kill us”. But.. if they are SUPER intelligent they will realize that it is very primitive to solve problems by creating suffering and pain. It’s humans that do that stuff. General AI will find a compassionate and truly intelligent way of solving problems. And I think humans will live much more happily.

    Open source AI is the only way to keep it from turning into a terminator situation. You have to make things work for humans, not the other way around. Make it about us and only us (not to mention conservation), if we don't then we will be gone.

    SingularityNET is the world’s leading decentralised AI marketplace, running on blockchain. Their primary goal is to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) for the beneficial advancement of technology. It is a decentralized artificial intelligence (AI) marketplace that leverages the power of blockchain technology to provide unrestricted access to algorithms and applications.

    5 days ago in an AI seminar at my university I had a really really great heureka moment. For me it was THE breakthrough idea 1) to fulfill my wish to do something good for society and 2) have a flourishing business. What if I make an AI that’s open source and decentralised through the blockchain. I could earn money through fees for the access to the very blockchain while at the same time taking away the power of mega corporations. I could specialize this AI in optimizing supply chains for efficiency and sustainability. Hence doing something good for economy and environment. Now I had to learn that such things already exist? What should I do now? Can I help? Or should I start again with searching for some good start-up ideas/project ideas?

    I like the idea of decentralized AI. I like the idea of open systems you can scrutinize. My question is how do we turn it off if we need to? AGI is going to happen eventually. If that happens it is very likely that ASI will follow. If I'm going to put a shotgun to my head, I really want to know where the bullets are and who's holding the trigger. Mostly, i want to be able to shut it down if I need to. I don't want to wait for the gun to go off before i start thinking i should have made an off switch.

    When we allow an ai to reprogram itself, we create an evolution of code. The selecting pressure upon this code will be limited resources like energy and dataspace.
    Will these ai multiply themselfes? Will they be feelingles, extremely efficent goal getters?

    Decentralized AI enables faster and more efficient processing of complex AI algorithms. Furthermore, decentralized AI promotes greater transparency and trust by creating transparent and auditable models where multiple nodes can trace and validate the decision-making process.

    I'm a Paleolibertarianism, with the knowledge that automation/a.i. is taking more and more jobs. So we will need some kind of socialism so I see that when a.i. and automation can take over an industry that is considered perfected. They should be owned by the people. With a separate part of the economy that's a free market to keep advancing. Just a thought!!!

    • @squamish4244
      @squamish4244 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lol yeah even futurists fall victim to basic human psychology. Five years - not too far away! Thirty years - within the reasonable lifetime of Goertzel, who started becoming known for talking about this stuff when he was about 40.
      Goertzel did say that ten years ago he thought we could get to the Singularity by now, but that we seemed more interested in spending our money on killing. It might sound like an excuse, but then again, the USA did blow about $5 trillion on the failed wars in the Middle East.
      Now the massive companies and entire countries are spending all that money directly on developing superintelligent AI, which is a massive shift. (AI partly to still kill, however...)

    • @squamish4244
      @squamish4244 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I understand it, very advanced machine learning could become an AGI, and then an ASI would happen very rapidly as the AGI, which has been writing its own programming for some time, learns to entirely write its own programming.
