Hey man, Red Team in the SII program had multiple 'itterations' or 'variations' so to say, so it was likely an unmentioned subunit of Red Team. An example of these units is Beta-Red.
I like that Halsey ran this strict screening for the spartan 2 program, and half were still psychopaths. Like lil Jerome might be good now, but if he was only used on rebels he would’ve become a special kind of villain.
Black team acts how I’d imagine soldiers who were kidnapped as children and treated as weapons would. I say this considering that fostering emotionally mature killing machines was probably secondary to developing efficient and mission oriented killing machines 😂

Their storyline seems to fit the Spartan 3s more than the Spartan 2s. The hazing part sounds more akin to what the S-IIIs would do. Washouts or spartans. The washouts, the ones who didn't make the cut to become a Spartan, got kept to train the new spartan 3 companies. In Ghost of Onyx, the washouts were described as extremely mean and bitter to their successors, often bullying them. And the Spartan 2s in training, well. They have reason for wanting to take the training seriously. They witness the deaths of their family at the hands of the Covvies. And seeing two fellow Spartans slacking off would make them feel the memory of their families is being disrespected. [Although, they might not care if their felllow spartans were slacking off in training, space was limited. If their fellow spartans washouted, good. More room for those who want to become spartans.]
