When mastered, you can pretty much move it, and turn it any direction you want to fly anywhere on the map. By far and away the coolest trick you can do with the physics in this game. I kind of want to do a sky pirate playthrough because of it.

This is the highest quality flying machine tutorial I've seen, but it does leave out one detail. You can use D-pad down as a brake to stop the flying machine from moving forward (as it slowly moves forward by default when active). This can be useful in some situations, such as when attempting to land the flying machine on a tower or navigating through tight spaces. Soaring through the sky in a flying machine is by far my favorite mode of transportation in BOTW. It's just unfortunate that Death Mountain and Hyrule Castle are the only spawn points for these wonderful devices.
If you take the flying machine to Hyrule Castle after starting the minigame, you can fight Calamity Ganon with the minigame music, but you get taken out of it if and into a glitched overworld if you touch the ground.

I can say being struck by lightning is a problem to the dmv it seems that on landing you harm part of the ecosystem and can cause unnecessary damage to property since it is charged with electricity you must get a permit to be allowed to fly in those charged conditions unless you plan on crashing on water have a nice day FINE: 544 rupees sorry for any inconveniences

I'm probably never gonna fly in this game. But it stinks to find a guide for anything where you follow the instructions and it still doesn't work because the guide doesn't account for every little thing that can go wrong. This isn't one of those guides; you cover pretty much every possible thing in great detail with visual examples. Major kudos and awesome job! (Should go without saying but much like and sub).

If you are doing this is “post game” all you really need is a flame weapon, no metal items equipped, one cold resistance clothing item, one for flame guard as well, and one heat resistance. Then you can fly to your hearts content!
Currently still working in June 2020 also a good tip is when setting up the flying machine and putting the carts on top of each other make sure that you aren't aiming in the middle and then pushing down, instead go to the bottom part so it goes down instead of staying on the ground
