As in the video, I had one of the red birder stones come off, but glued it back on easily. The knight is way too large and can actually bump into other pieces. The squares should ideally be 2.75 to 3 inch diagonal to accommodate them, but would probably take up a lot of space. NC jumped up the price but I complained and amazingly they agreed to sell it for $100 less.
I would definitely suggest making some kind of custom case for all the pieces. I got mine secondhand off ebay, the plastic casing was shattered and both black and white had broken bishop staffs. Thankfully I was able to glue them back together.
Oh man, sorry to hear they broke but I'm glad you were able to fix them! I'm definitely always nervous to take them in and out of the hard plastic so hopefully I can find a softer case
@@ReeledInReviews Also don't forget, each player has a white square in their bottom right, so your setup needs rotated. Queens go on their own colored square, so black will have a King on the left, Queen on the right, white will have the Queen on the left, King on the right.
I went ahead and bought this, right after purchasing all three broom authentic replicas, along 13 wands from most of the important characters. Wasn't cheap, but man I'm glad I can afford it. Especially the nimbus 2000 which is supposed to be limited.

Nice review, thanks!! There weren't really any reviews of the expensive noble collection edition of the chess set. It looks amazing and worth the price compared to the cheaper versions (DeAgostini and the other Noble one). Also glad to note that the pieces are heavy. This is very important to make it feel authentic 😊 *Edit* also, the towers go to the edge of the board instead of next to the king and queen 😁

I have a question about toys in pc case. I placed a chess figure above the PSU(between glass and GPU). The base of these figure is magnetic. Is it safe to place even a decorative, but still magnetic object, in such a spot? Thank you
Is this set plastic? If so then for everyone else who wanna paint and custom do the cheaper set for 70 dollar. I got the 70 dollar set and bought all painting I needed and did a Gryffindor vs Slytherin style chess. The 70 dollar set is identical to this set to every detail. I painted according to medieval style looking colours. Silver/metal knight armor. Red painting on the shield with gold colour to highlight gryffindor and same but silver and green for Slytherin. All in all it took me 1-2 weeks to paint it all and this was my first miniture/chess painting and I spent 100 dollar with all colour painting and the chess set in total. Just buy the cheaper one and paint it however you want.
That sounds like a great craft idea, however, I have to disagree that both sets look identical. I have the $70 set and you can definitely see the price difference. These are not made of plastic but hard resin. One day I'd like to find one made out of marble or stone but this is a pretty good collectors item if that's what you're in to

If that's the case then its a better 3D machine at work. Either way I highly recommend you painting the cheaper version and once you'r done I promise you it will look like a chess set worth 400 dollar. PSA: Beautiful Pieces, BUT not best for actual play. First thd field size of the Board is WAY too small for the Pieces and second the pawns just lack height. In combination with the elevation of the board you really need to lean over the board or stand up to see the position. The pieces are nicely sculpted and varied, one Flaw for playing Chess is the big shield on the back of King, Queen and Bishop - this doesn't make them easily distinguishable from each other viewed from behind. All-in-All: Great for a special playing Experience once in a While, displaying or keeping in The Box. For everyday play a nice set of Staunton figures is better suited.
Where is the best place to purchase this set? It is $395 on the Noble Collection site. Was not sure if it is offered somewhere else for a better price?
Unfortunately the noble collection is the only site I know of that sells this chess set for a high quality. I know they have a smaller version for around $30 but the materials are not the same (mostly plastic). You may be able to check sites like ebay or even Etsy to see if someone is selling their set for a lower price. Hope that helps!
Oh man, that stinks! I'm sorry you got scammed. Facebook can be a little tricky sometimes with buying and selling. Although, I have a feeling for $35 it may have been the plastic chess set, unless it was strictly advertised as the resin set
I really wanted to by my partner this..but honestly it's gone from 250 pound now up to 300 which I'm a little disappointed in...Still looks absolutely amazing though so it's a maybe for me. 👍

Hi I was able to the harry potter chess and it came last night 😁 now my only problem I can't remember which way it said it need to be this way up on the box and it's now wrapped amd I really really don't want it to get damaged do u think it will matter which way the Box is ?? Thanks
Hello! I don't think it will matter too much. I'd say just be very careful when handling it. For example, place it lightly on the ground or wherever you are storing it and don't shake the box, things like that. Some pieces may have detached in the shipping process, like the red gemstone did on the board for me in the video, but they should be glued back together easily. Good luck, I hope it turns out well!

Yes I think it's actually pretty cheap compared to other chess boards if you want them really nice harry potter is definitely the way to go if the quality if good.
What ive learned with these artistic sets is that theyre not for playing. When playing, pieces get knocked over easily. These are also too big to practically see whats happening on the board. Expensive chess sets are beautiful but also durable enough for play.
I believe the pieces are made out of resin. If a normal chess game is played, I don't believe the pieces will break, unless someone throws them around the board. I would still be careful taking it out of the box as some pieces have very thin extremities and may snap off that way.

Most of their replicas are made of resin and I believe this is their most expensive product in the Harry Potter section (I haven’t looked at all of them) the least they could do make it with better quality materials to make it more attractive to consumers.

I feel if it’s going to be as expensive as it is the pieces should be made of metal or stone.
