  • Survivor is usually fun, but there are times when a moment, or moments, can send a season on a downward trajectory it never recovers from. These are those seasons.

Yes, this is a re-upload. The original video was manually copyrighted 4 months after being made public. I re-edited it so you all can watch it once more. Enjoy!
Edit: Q: Why wasn't Zeke and Varner included?
A: Because their moment was 1/3 of an episode and the issue was quickly handled and didn't tank the rest of the season. However, I included that moment in this villainous video - th-cam.com/video/W12uLl5b_YE/w-d-xo.html

Season 39 was a classic example of why women are afraid to speak up when they feel uncomfortable with men’s advances. Kelly is very mature and respectful with Dan and then the girls back her up but when faced by the rest of the tribe they recant and lie saying they never said anything like that and that they love when Dan touches them. Then to punish Kelly (because she’s the problem) they vote her off. This is exactly what happens in real life. You speak up and then you’re ostracized and branded as a “problem”. Then survivor does the bare minimum with Dan and gives him a slap on the wrist until he does it to production. NOW it’s a problem, yuck. Made me sick to my stomach. I stopped watching once Dan finally left. I just couldn’t with these people anymore.

Ted, Dan, and Hatch are all perfect examples on why women are afraid to speak up, how men protect other men when they know sa is happening, how women are vilified for saying anything, and how sa takes a huge toll on a person. I like to think we are better today then it was even just a few years ago, but we have such a long way go still

What’s frustrating for me is that the women complained about it and nothing was done. They had a talk with everybody. They had a talk with him. Nothing was done. The women complained again. Nothing was done. Something was done when a staff member complained.. They should’ve listened to the womenfrom the very beginning.

the thing about richard and sue is that she was probably in a fear/trauma response when it happened (fight, flight or freeze) and she froze so from the outside it doesn’t look like she was bothered but the incident playing over and over and over again is a very clear sign of ptsd. like i’m not diagnosing but like that’s a big symptom that something traumatic happened, plus the fact she didn’t even think about it until later after it happened is also very like ptsd-like. i didn’t realize i was SA’d until YEARS after.. it’s a common occurrence.

What was also upsetting about Dan on 39 was that the edit had Kellee feel like an empowering voice for speaking up, only for it to fall on her and a “consequence for speaking up” when we were led to believe that that cycle would be broken. And if I recall correctly, I believe it was the first hour of a 2-hour special episode that night. Kellee being voted out tanked it so hard. (The Karishma idol play was great that season though.)

    • @LoriPeace
      @LoriPeace 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I had forgotten about this situation -- you're right -- it doesn't get talked about these days. I do believe Ghandia was absolutely justified in her breakdown after hearing that Ted was saying nothing happened. But just from what was shown in this clip (and I'll admit, I don't remember details) 1- it looks like she was snuggling up to him before the incident, which may have given him the impression that she was interested; and 2- after his apology, which she accepted, she went and told the other women. If she had kept her body to herself, the inappropriate touching might not have happened; if she had kept the incident to herself afterwards, at least until the end of the season, she could have kept it from blowing up in her face like it did. With all that said, I DO NOT mean to be victim-blaming, just pointing out that there were bad decisions made on both their parts.
And then there's Clay who, aside from his insensitive comments about Ghandia, referred to his own child TWICE as IT. Not him or her. It. Classy, Clay. You're a really stand-up kinda guy. /s

She got screwed by the Idol Nullifier, and the only other really likable post-merger got screwed by the proto-Beware Advantage. The titular island wasted a huge amount of time and contributed nothing to the final result. Some people laugh at the Applebee’s shilling, but I just find it embarrassing. The winner was dull as dishwasher, Rudy died of Alzheimer’s, and Rob and Sandra spending time alone together didn’t lead to any pregaming for S40. Why do people insist on saying that the pervert ruined what could otherwise have been a good season?

well they can’t have everything in the show. theyre on the island being filmed 24/7 for 39 days (or however long it is.. i didnt see IOI so i dont know how long it was) so it’s hard to fit everything in that needs to be.
there’s also probably some stuff they can’t show for like age rating and such. And depending on what even happened they may have had to ask the players if it was okay to show it (even tho before the show they have to agree to everything being filmed, not sure the exact details though about showing stuff especially if it caused mental distress to the players)

As far as Richard and Sue goes, the whole thing should have been easily prevented. They shouldn't be allowed to intentionally get naked during competitions. Survivor never aired a message either confirming or denying there was any wrongdoing. It is sad that years later that this was used to justify not having Richard on WaW.
The incident in Thailand was mishandled. Well, that's too much credit, because it was not handled at all. If you are going to be sleeping right next to someone, you do put yourself at risk of something inappropriate, intentionally or otherwise. Ghandia complained to the other women without mentioning he apologized, and Ted denied it to Brian. I can't say for certain whether Ted was in control or not. Really messed up situation. Ghandia, Ted, and the show all come out looking bad.
Dreamz agreeing to take the car and then not following through greatly pisses me off. Yau Man didn't seem to mind and let him keep the car. Yau Man really is great.
Coach ruined his fun reputation by going full cult leader, but I can't help but like him still.
As far as Dan, well, production should have stepped in Day 1, and those women should not have lied about it for gameplay reasons. It's a game show, and sexual harassment should be 100% not part of it. Just disgusting and it seems like it hurt the show moving forward.
Whatever the truth behind these disturbing stories is, consent is 100% a must, everyone should be safe from that, and making false claims only hurts real victims. I love this channel. Have a great day all, and say hi to your Springer watching Grandma for me.

There’s an unpleasant postscript to the S5 issue. The treemail in All Stars that preceded the Survivor trivia-centered immunity challenge was a little poem that took one line apiece from each season and tried to make a fun little highlight reel out of it. One line was “Ghandia screamed ‘You’re way too close!’” and I believe Amber chuckled a bit after she read it out loud. (Like, the kind of insincere chuckle that the camera crew is clearly pushing for.)
That challenge saw Rob despondent and out to sea and apparently trying to throw it before deciding at the last minute to compete to the best of his ability. This in turn led to Mogo Mogo winning and Saboga going to tribal with Amber an obvious choice. And Rob making his infamous deal with Lex (who by the way followed up an answer to one of the trivia questions that included mention of a S7 contestant with “I remember Dara” and a wolf whistle). This set in motion the sequence of events that are to my mind what _really_ sucked all the fun out of the season.

Survivor All Stars was supposed to be a fun wholesome season for the fans. however since this was a second chance for a million dollars the season became very ruthless. the desparation to win in the second chance was there and became dark. as a result most of the great castaways from previous seasons were eliminated early. while people you could consider weren't all stars were in control of the game and ended up deciding who wins...

I’m sorry but if you “don’t know better” when it comes to rubbing your bare genitals against someone, that’s a MAJOR red flag. If he knew what he was doing, that’s absolutely terrible. If he actually didn’t know what he was doing, then who’s to say he hasn’t made other people uncomfortable or violated because he assumes it’s okay because he’s gay and it’s not serious to him. I don’t think he did it with malicious intent, but I also don’t think Sue faked her reaction. I think she didn’t know what to think at first and then processed it and was upset at both the fact that it happened and the fact that everyone treated it like a joke.
