Just bought one. Only have about 60 miles on it. Mixture of snow and rain right now but when the sun returns I will ride some more. This is the Triumph I waited all my life for. Handles right, sounds right with more power and torque and even looks right as driveway art. Great bike. I like it and got a great buying experience at Select Cycles.
awesome bike review! You guys have come out of nowhere with this. 'Inherent Rightness'...is a phrase I will take with me. And that's why I own one of those bad boys...
Just bought one. Traded in my retro style 2024 Honda cb1100 Got a great deal It handles better than I can ride it with more power than I will ever use Works good on my favorite curves. Look forward to some drier and warmer weather to take it on s trip to the beach about 200 miles away. It will be a great beach and mountain cruiser. Love that big twin soundtrack roaring the rhythm of the road. Lots of torque.
Great review & brilliantly filmed. I too have this bike and everything said about this bike is all true. If you have the money buy one, if not demo one and put a smile on your face........
Great review. I think you are right about the Speed Twin superseding the Thruxton - as a package, the Speed Twin simply is more user friendly and fun. I would even say that about the Speed Twin with regard to the R Nine T - it just works better as a whole. I suspect the Thruxton won't stay as it is but will benefit from the weight loss the Speed Twin benefited from.
Jon Quirk was Autotrader's main motorcycle reviewer for several years, but he left that organization in 2017. Looks like he's back, albeit as a freelancer.
As for grab bars for a pillion, I don't think you can get them from Triumph's catalogue. At least you couldn't when I got a Speed Twin back in July 19. You can get a luggage rack from TEC bike parts that has a hoop on it, yet to fit my one of these. The Speed Twin is an awesome bike, more power and handling than I need or can utilise and it looks wonderful :) My main moan is that the fuel tank could have been a couple of litres bigger. At 50 to 55 MPG it has a range of about 160 to 175 miles, so fill ups happen at about the 135 mile mark.
I sat on this bike. I couldn't believe how comfortable it was. Just perfect. And no, I would never want keyless go on any motorcycle. If a 50k bmw takes 30seconds for thieves to steal, how long will this take?
Nice review.. Dop , music, voice of bike sounds, are simply awesome and your presentation is cool 😎🤘🏻 Thank you dear ✌🏻... I like the helmet, 😍 Can you please tell me the name of the helmet 🤩
My wife finds our Speed Twin pretty good, but Triumph do need to make a luggage rack and sissy bar. Otherwise yes I can see the T120 is better for pillion.
The Triumph after market catalogue for the Speed Twin is currently not that large. No luggage rack, grab rails or sissy bar. It could also do with an easily changeable Thruxton like seat for spirited solo rides. Triumph or someone needs to fix those holes in the options catalogue .
a lot of that stuff is adaptable from other models. I've seen quite a few with luggage racks and panniers on the Facebook group "Triumph Speed Twin 1200"
Thanks for watching, Roberto! Objectively speaking, the Triumph Speed Twin is the better bike and the best Bonnie, but I personally prefer riding the R nineT. I like the 'character' of the cylinder rock and at 6ft, the geometry feels a little more comfortable for my (admittedly lanky) frame. Hope that helps!
Jon Quirk thanks. And one more question, for commuting everyday what do you think will be better going for the new r1250r or the ninet? Any other options you will consider as an all rounder?
Imo the Speed Twin is a more attractive / classically beautiful bike that also handles better and is more fun to ride. The RnineT has more power (but is heavier) and looks more unique / quirky, and has many more customization options. The RnineT is also significantly more expensive than the Speed Twin. If I had to choose only one, I'd go with the RnineT (which is exactly what I did); however, I'd love to have an RnineT to customize to the n-th degree. Edit: your size may impact which one is more comfortable. Taller folks will prefer the RnineT.
Gorgeous motorcycle, but once you've ridden bikes with back rests it's hard to go back to a flat bench. Any time you've got a torquey engine, you want a saddle that keeps you firmly in place.
Great review with good camera work thanks
Thanks for the feedback!

Correction should read 2013 honda cb1100.
Patiently waiting to get this bike for myself one day.. never fell in love with a motorcycle this way in quite a long time..
Thanks for coming back we want more reviews from u

Missed the moto reviews by Jon!
It's not really a retro... Triumph has never stopped making these kind of bikes! This is just a Triumph motorcycle.
I've legit waited years for a bike review from you guys ! And I don't even ride one yet :(
I got one as my first big bike. I love it. For me it is almost perfect. If Triumph made a luggage rack then it would be perfect.

Where have you been guys with bikes review..keep it up!

Do a review of the Harley Davidson street rod. Nice review by the way, glad to see Jon quirck is back. Cheers
Just bought an all black one over the weekend. Great road bike, and a lot of fun.
Nice one! Enjoy 😎
Speed Twins have always been red, since their beginning in the 1930’s. I bought a red one 😉

He’s back!!!
Im a simple man, I see Jon doing a motorbike review, I click.
The best bike reviewer on You Tube...
All time classic bike!

Jon put the names of all his gear on screen while he was putting each on. Look again. His helmet is the Premier Trophy.
xanaduzu I didn't notice it while watching, thank you 🤦🏻♂️😇
Would love to see more bike reviews 🍻
Nice detailed review
Thee ‘ald nifty lefty leg work🍀
If it was just for me I’d go for one of these; but for my pillion / partner comfort I’ll stick to the T120.

@@daniellekoran7906 I will have a look. Thanks :)
I'd like to see a fairing that matches the tank.
@@snowpharoah3839 A fairing would be nice :)
TEC bike parts now make a luggage rack. You might have to contact them directly.
How tall would Jon Quirk be?
Where are you man?
If you were spending your own money which one do you pick the rninet or this speed twin?

It's all down to personal taste, for example I can't stand bmw and their boxer engine so I would go for this or even the z900rs.

Didn't know it was called "Bonneville" Speed Twin.
A glowing review....
And now the downside please.
Would be a dumb thing to get a quick shifter for a retro machine. U’re not doing lap times...
180 mile range PMSL try 120
Gorgeous motorcycle, but once you've ridden bikes with back rests it's hard to go back to a flat bench. Any time you've got a torquey engine, you want a saddle that keeps you firmly in place.
Almost threw myself off my Speed Twin yesterday. Gotta be careful with that much HP/Torque and nothing to grab you but your own two hands.
I guess someone will make a bucket seat soon. If you want to pin the throttle it could do with a Thruxton like seat for solo rides.
Hmmm those molded seats drive me nuts, I am always hoping the manufacturer offers a bench seat as an option!!!!
Heated grips are not stock.
It does not need keyless ignition. I don't want keyless ignition on any car or bike I have. Pointless and a security hole.
Like past
Speed Twin R anyone?
He revved the engine before taking off and I'm not sure I heard anything. Had go back and listen for the sewing machine.
Beautiful weird fake and lazy fuel cap
At least it's beautiful 🤣
