Neyveli Santhanagopalan is a Carnatic music vocalist known for his traditional values in the rendition of classical compositions. He has learned from masters such as Shri Thanjavur Sankara Iyer, Shri Maharajapuram Santhanam, and Shri TN Seshagopalan. Santhanagopalan is also proficient in the Indian veena and percussion instruments. He has performed in various concerts around the world and is also the proud recipient of several awards and felicitations. In this video, Carnatic Singer Neyveli Santhanagopalan opens up about politics existing in Carnatic singing.

M. L. V , Sheikh Chinna moulana , Rajarathnam pillai, valayappatti, etc, etc who have all made such big names for themselves not because they r from a particular community !! Music is beyond religion , caste & creed !! 👍👍

Like Needamangalam sri Meenakshi sundaram pillai,
Pichaiyappa pillai, Tiruumeygnam Sri Natarajadundaram pillai
Were not honoured . Pichai yappa Pillai should have been honoured for his Pancha rathna
raga Mallari . For Sri Nataraja sundaram Pillai's Mallari is an achievement by him.
So Many musicians were neglected great honours.

Namaskaram. I hv enjoyed the interview by Sri Santhanagopalan Sir!! Hes very outspoken! Good. He rightly pointed out that " however talented an artiste is, he cant come to the limelight if his times r not working to his favour". Very true!! He also referred Sri Manakkal Rangarajan name. Therre r severrasl other artistes like that!! My chittappa MADURAI T. SRINIVASAN ( AKA CHEENA. KUTTY) was a great Mrudhangist. He was a legend in MRUDHANGAM playing. He was also a VAGEYAKARA (composer) of songs, thillanas, padhams, varnams. He did extraordinary work on " rhythms ". But unfortunately he was not properly recognised with Awasrds!! Nevertheless, We always cherish his good work. ( CHEENAKUTTY ANNA accompanied me for all my kutcheries n i still enjoy those wonderrful memories!). VPARTHASARATHY (MUSICIAN ) son of GANARATHNA MADURAI T. VENKATESAN, a reputed musician of yesterryears..

Namaskarams, sir true subject which needs to be correced in this decade at least. Communal thoughts and support to brahmin based artists prevail, needs immediate attention from the musical fraternity and genuine amendments. Even students are filtered and admitted as Sishyas in the communal lines. Please change Or this is injustice encouraged.

Just correction. Recently Sanjay Subramaniyam opened new you tube Chanel “on the notes”. He has touched every one you mentioned. He is still doing. I am more disappointed only about the awards . Since lots of musicians are Brahmins the govt especially DMK nasty govt playing politics. Music is beyond everything in the world. DMK -கழுதைக்கு தெரியுமா கற்பூர வாசனை.
My one question to Vidwan Shri N.S Sir, I try to hear many Devi songs of mummoorthigal. But no one singing the complete song. They sing first and the last. Naduvula saranaththa kanom. But when singing "Nagumomu", ""Jagadhodharana", or """......andhareeki vandhanamu" you people are pulling it. Why this partiality to Shri Devi songs??? Please question this to every vidhwan and get answer and let them correct it. Even new generation do the same mistake.
The repeated question by the interviewer as to why only Brahmin names are mentioned during lec-demo is like asking why only sun is given so much importance & not other planets like mercury, venus, mars, jupiter etc. ?
