Would like to hear what you think about motocross gear. For example, I almost never see anyone wearing chest protectors/roost deflectors anymore. Is everyone wearing something under the jersey, or just not wearing a roost deflector? Same thing with elbow pads, kidney belts, etc... are they actually used in motocross, or too heavy and restricting?
Thanks a lot for your question - happy to answer! This is very good question and a valid one. When you watch Supercross, then yes, most pro riders do not wear chest protectors. There are several reasons: 1. You do not have rocks in the soil that roost protector protects you from 2. It is much more comfortable to rider without one - especially in Supercross which is more technical 3. When you have a crash, then chest protector does not protect you much from the impact Elbow bads and Kidney belts are also nice to have protection, especially important for kids and beginners. I would say dirt bike gear companies are constantly finding ways how to make dirt bike gear more comfortable and for a PRO rider to wear elbow pads makes it so much more uncomfortable to ride on a very fast pace for a long time. I would recommend you have a look at my article about essential dirt bike gear: motocrossadvice.com/dirt-bike-gear/essential-dirt-bike-gear/
Great tips!
Nice intro dude
