It's great to see Cyma bringing out these older models again, and for the price, and what you get, you can't grumble too much. Looking forward to the gearbox takedown. Yes, five years ago, G&P were the ones for any M16 build, outers were great, trademarks were cool, the M120 motor was a killer, but honestly, I never rated their internals very much, and since they have gone over to silly money terrority, Cyma will sell a lot of the newer M16 range. But Cyma, please, it's 2020, so anything is possible, why don't you bring out a metal bodied G3, or FAL....Great review Pheas as usual, many thanks for the share.
The proper way to access the battery compartment in the stock is to only loosen the buttstock screw (don't completely remove the screw) then push upward on the rubber butt pad and then rotate it to the side. That way, you don't have the annoying problem in trying to hunt down the recessed screw deep inside the stock. If you take it out all the way, it will take at least half hour to reseat the screw😢. Just sayin...
As someone who knows the the differences between the M16s this is a very good, but not perfect, replica of the XM16E1. I believe the stock (excl. sling mount and buttplate) is A2 style and the fencing at the rear of the lower is incorrect but I beleive aside from those it's a really good replica aesthetically.
Just a tip for the battery compartment stick a strip of velcro both the battery and stock inside (where the slope is, under neath the sling mount block) this kills battery noise

It is a magazine fed pump action single shot shotgun and you can get it with 3 mags under 13 Euro around 12 pounds . The other budget but quite good looking shotgun would be the EE (again) Tri-shot M56DL pump action boy Or the cyma 350 non metal version . Both of them shot shell, Tri-shot shotguns and both of them are under 50 Euro. There is also the ASG Franchi SAS 12 which is under 40 Euro (shotshell version). These ones might worth a lovely try :D . I hope to see one of these bad boys in the future :D . With some love from Hungary M. Zs. Keep up the lovely work mate !

Old but gold. Quite a gun! It's design was far ahead back when it first appeared, and still be somewhat futuristic today... More than half a Century after!!! All this means something!!
This is actually a pretty good representation of the XM16E1 which was the initial US Army version. Lessons learned from it led to the M16A1 with different butt stock with trap door, full fence lower receiver and birdcage flash hider being the most prominent changes.
Maybe buy a chrono and show us chrono test a on the range it would be nice to see some "target" shooting at 10m then 25m and maybe 50m so we can ye the accuracy and grouping of the bbs.

The 9.6v will depend on the charger output and the mah of the battery. if the battery is 1600 mah and the charger outputs 500mah then (From empty) the battery would be 1600 / 500 = 3 with 1 left over, so just over 3 hours to fully charge. Lipos use special chargers which tell you when they are full (always charge at max 1amp, otherwise they will shorten their useful lifespan to you) Pheas

I got a different CYMA (zero one had it as the CYMA m16 RIS, but I think patrol base had the same gun but different name) anyway I’ve had nothing but issues with it feeding, even the mag the gun came with doesn’t feed after 10 shots and I’ve tried everything you can think of, bar the battery - I think it was recommended as 9.4 but I use 7.4 so I wonder if that’s not turning the motor enough? It’s a real shame because it’s a gorgeous gun but it has severe feeding issues
Hiya. If it's not feeding I can't see it being a battery causing it. A 7.4v defo wouldn't cause feeding issues. If the mags all work fine in other guns then you have a couple of options it could be... 1. Hop rubber is damaged / misaligned and that's stopping BBS feeding. 2. The hop unit is damaged / deformed - very unusual for this to happen. 3. The air nozzle and or tappet plate is damaged or not moving far enough back which could cause these sorts of issues. If you are getting some feeding them nothing I would most likely have thought the hop rubber is at fault. Id have to see pics of it to know for certain and videos too to determine properly. Pheas
@@PheasAirsoft thank you so much for reply mate, yeah I got it the other month, spend £300 ish on upgrades and I’ve had a lot of trouble with the feeding, I got some double bell Vietnam mid caps and they feed okay then stop, tried tape on the top rear of the mag and it fit snug with no front or back movement while in the mag well, but it worked for a bit then stopped, even the mag it came with doesnt work 90% of the time, just super frustrating to spend half a grand on a gun and it doesn’t even work!! I’m not sure what to do with it, I might ring when they’re open to see if the tech can have a look at it again because there’s clearly an issue
@@wolowizard4441 if they did the upgrades then defo get then to sort it. One last thing I would check first is see if someone nearby (friend etc) has another other mags to try to see if that helps. Also out of interest from the mags... If they are fully loaded (and wound if higb caps) if you release the tab on top of the feeding tube do they all fly out? Or is it a slow trickle that's very very slow? If it's slow or not moving at all then it could be the mags after all. Also might be out of left field... My mate had a feeding issue with an older cyma... We tried everything. In the end it was because he was using 0.32g BBS without realising 😂😂 and the springs in the mags just couldn't move them properly so cause misfeeding all over the place.. just incase you were using heavy ammo.
@@PheasAirsoft it could possibly be the mags, when I take out any of the mags, 4 bbs fall out of the gun so they’re exiting the mag but then piling up in there, I’ve turned the un upside down and still doesn’t fire after that! They fly out when I manually empty the mag! I did also look and the little tab that holds the bbs in until the mag is inserted is slightly smaller on the double bell Vietnam mags so I did think that perhaps the hop up unit wasn’t pulling that back filly when the mag was inserted but the mag the gun came with is also not feeding! Ahhh okay, I’m using .28 but the guy said not to use anything lighter than .3 because if something he did with the gun but I used .3 and they still didn’t feed but I wonder if it’s because I need to use heavier, no idea - I’ll just have to call and see about it being sent back! Hello! It can use 11.1v lipos. I am aware that the first stocks of these didn't like 11.1v lipos as the MOSFET would burn out. Buy later stocks of them were ok and ran fine. Pheas

Hello! Thats an amazing compliment for me that my video has influenced you to buy it! Blows my mind. The handguards can be a touch wobbly, I would take them out initially and check the ring at the back (infront of the magwell) is tightl, then maybe put a layer of duct tape into the recess to give it more friction, should tighten it up for you. hi, I wanted to ask you how the hop up of your replica works. I bought this shotgun too but I don't understand if the hop up works badly or the model is just like that. Power 1J and the pellets arrive safely at 50 meters closing all the hop up. But usually with all the replicas I have, I never get to close to the maximum because the pellets would fly upwards, but with this replica to get to 50 meters I have to close it to the maximum without ever the risk of them flying high. Moreover, I noticed that at the end of the meters the ball does not fall gradually but overhanging. I wanted to understand if yours was like that or mine that has something wrong with it.
Hello! What weight of bb do you use in it? I usually run 0,.25g bbs and find it needs no where near the full amount of hop on to give it a good flight. You could look at swapping out the hop rubber to be one with more adjustment earlier (like the Maple Leaf MR rubber with Omega tensioner) Hope that helps. Pheas
@@PheasAirsoft I use 0.25, but I close the hop up to the maximum to get to 50 meters ... it starts working at 3/4 of a turn as if there was a vacuum, I thought it was defective but I have also read about other people with my same problem, so it makes me think that the rifle comes out of the factory just like that. You're the first one for now to tell me it works well for him. I will change the hop up later, for the moment I use it like this, since it reaches 50 meters safely.
Hello! This version of the cyma and the JG... The CYma has the metal body and the mosfet and generally better quality control so things are a little better, the JG tend to have a polymer body (but check specifics with the retailer) and the parts tend to not quite be as good with quality control. The Cyma generally performas a little better and is a little better built inside than the JG. If I had the choice... Cyma, thats not to say the JG isnt good / worth the money, just the Cyma pips it. I did indeed, but this was ordered a good while ago. TG are not currently posting to the UK... HOWEVER they have confirmed they are due to start again, but are conducting tests to make sure it goes smoothly as they had horrific issues with UPS and brexit etc. .... Hiya! I have not heard anything different about any newer batches of these mofets, so I would expect that there is likely to be some form of issue where the mosfet will burn out on an 11.1v and you will need to replace it with something else. Pheas
@@LewisVinyl You ask as many questions as you need to. From my point of view... the M16 has far more parts available for it, and is far better documented. From having a quick look back at the thompson and its disassembly video I would say that the M16 internally is better built as it is a high end product from cyma where as the thompson seems to be based on the more budget materials used in the cm.500 series. SO I would, if it were me, go for the M16, but damn I do like a thompson! Pheas

Hiya. It should take a bayonette on the front lug, but doesn't have an interface for any other attachments unless you add the rail yourself. You could at one point get an adapter to sit in the top of the carry handle site to give you a ris rail for an optic, after that it's slim options (barrel mounted ris attachment I suppose) without changing the front end. It should take an m203 though I would have though. Hope that helps! Pheas
They are excellent, just be careful about using 11.1v lipos. Quite a few people have reported that they have had their mosfets fry by using them, but seems to be more linked to the older ones than any newer ones. Pheas

Regarding the creaky handguards. The real ones creak too. Airsofters demand too much sometimes. The slingloop is correct by the way.

Plus that type of stock and butt plate are historically correct for the XM16E1 so not a lot of design choice there.

Great Video, just one criticism when you do the range test, it’s not very easy to see how far the BB’s are flying ?

Ahhh okay, I’m using .28 but the guy said not to use anything lighter than .3 because if something he did with the gun but I used .3 and they still didn’t feed but I wonder if it’s because I need to use heavier, no idea - I’ll just have to call and see about it being sent back! Hello! It can use 11.1v lipos. I am aware that the first stocks of these didn't like 11.1v lipos as the MOSFET would burn out. Buy later stocks of them were ok and ran fine. Pheas

Your review is what made me purchase the rifle! Its really aweome! However my handguard is a bit wobbely to left and right, was yours the same? Is there anything i can to to fix it?
Hello! Thats an amazing compliment for me that my video has influenced you to buy it! Blows my mind. The handguards can be a touch wobbly, I would take them out initially and check the ring at the back (infront of the magwell) is tightl, then maybe put a layer of duct tape into the recess to give it more friction, should tighten it up for you. But theres actually not alot of videos on youtube where they shpw how to fix wobble in handguards, maybe it is a video for you to do! I looked at your dissasembly video aswell, and i think i know where the tape needs to be placed. Do you think the handguards will become looser with time or is it just the way they were made that makes it wobble slightly?
@@GeneralGiffel Glad the disassembly video could be helpful to you! I think they will stay at the wobblyness they are now, its down to sizing tolerances not being the best that creates the wobble. If I get one of them back in for anything I will be sure to do a video about the handguard and how to tighten it up. Pheas

hi, I wanted to ask you how the hop up of your replica works. I bought this shotgun too but I don't understand if the hop up works badly or the model is just like that. Power 1J and the pellets arrive safely at 50 meters closing all the hop up. But usually with all the replicas I have, I never get to close to the maximum because the pellets would fly upwards, but with this replica to get to 50 meters I have to close it to the maximum without ever the risk of them flying high. Moreover, I noticed that at the end of the meters the ball does not fall gradually but overhanging. I wanted to understand if yours was like that or mine that has something wrong with it.
Hello! What weight of bb do you use in it? I usually run 0,.25g bbs and find it needs no where near the full amount of hop on to give it a good flight. You could look at swapping out the hop rubber to be one with more adjustment earlier (like the Maple Leaf MR rubber with Omega tensioner) Hope that helps. Pheas
@@PheasAirsoft I use 0.25, but I close the hop up to the maximum to get to 50 meters ... it starts working at 3/4 of a turn as if there was a vacuum, I thought it was defective but I have also read about other people with my same problem, so it makes me think that the rifle comes out of the factory just like that. You're the first one for now to tell me it works well for him. I will change the hop up later, for the moment I use it like this, since it reaches 50 meters safely.

Hello! This version of the cyma and the JG... The CYma has the metal body and the mosfet and generally better quality control so things are a little better, the JG tend to have a polymer body (but check specifics with the retailer) and the parts tend to not quite be as good with quality control. The Cyma generally performas a little better and is a little better built inside than the JG. If I had the choice... Cyma, thats not to say the JG isnt good / worth the money, just the Cyma pips it. Hello, internally it should be ok, the 11.1v will add more pressure to the internals, so they will MAYBE fail sooner than using a 7.4v but in general you should be ok. Pheas

I did indeed, but this was ordered a good while ago. TG are not currently posting to the UK... HOWEVER they have confirmed they are due to start again, but are conducting tests to make sure it goes smoothly as they had horrific issues with UPS and brexit etc. .... Just realised you might not be in the UK and just called English Andy.. If you are out side England /Scotland /wales /northern Ireland then you are good to order from them. Pheas

Hiya! I have not heard anything different about any newer batches of these mofets, so I would expect that there is likely to be some form of issue where the mosfet will burn out on an 11.1v and you will need to replace it with something else. Pheas

@@LewisVinyl You ask as many questions as you need to. From my point of view... the M16 has far more parts available for it, and is far better documented. From having a quick look back at the thompson and its disassembly video I would say that the M16 internally is better built as it is a high end product from cyma where as the thompson seems to be based on the more budget materials used in the cm.500 series. SO I would, if it were me, go for the M16, but damn I do like a thompson! Pheas

Does it support attachments?
Hiya. It should take a bayonette on the front lug, but doesn't have an interface for any other attachments unless you add the rail yourself. You could at one point get an adapter to sit in the top of the carry handle site to give you a ris rail for an optic, after that it's slim options (barrel mounted ris attachment I suppose) without changing the front end. It should take an m203 though I would have though. Hope that helps! Pheas

They are excellent, just be careful about using 11.1v lipos. Quite a few people have reported that they have had their mosfets fry by using them, but seems to be more linked to the older ones than any newer ones. Pheas
