As i am writing this, i have 2 days until i ship back up to MEPS for a final height and weight, hotel stay, and then the next morning i ship out to Parris Island. I, a 25 year old man, would be lying if i said im not nervous. But this is something i wanted and prayed real real hard for and refuse to turn back or give up. To anybody that reads this later on in life that feels the same about MCRD, you got this, we got this. The few, the proud. 💪
Graduated December,18,1979. Theres many events in your life that are memorable. I may be wrong but the time you spent at Parris Island or at that other place they make Marines 😁 you just never forget.
I went to boot camp in 1997. 1st Battalion Delta Co Parris Island. I remember my first few days there like it was yesterday. We were in that class room for a looooooooong ass time.
Shipping out march 3rd, graduated early from high school last month and I will return just in time to come back and attend my high school graduation as a marine if all goes well God willing 🙏
Thank you Thomas. Thank you for your service to our country. I’m 19 and broke my collarbone twice and had surgery done with a titanium plate little over a year ago. How much do you think this will affect me if I joined? With the physical demandings?
I leave in March! I’m excited but apparently there’s a new system coming into play that caused us Pooles to lose are jobs we signed up for. And would need to try & get them again some how. So hoping I get my job again 🤞🏽💪
@@sawyerc1076 I’m back. It sucked but you’ll be fine. Just listen To ur instructors. It sucks the whole time until the last few weeks. Just know it’s worth it, fight through the pain. Do whatever it takes to make it. Do it for who you love. You will learn everything u need to in bootcamp,
I have a question, why do they have everyone call everyone, enlisted and commissioned sir or ma'am, but get their heads chewed off of their neck if they call an enlisted member sir or ma'am in the fleet?
I’m kind of confused by your question because in the fleet, you still call them, sir, or ma’am, you would not called him by the rank such as captain or Lieutenant that would get you chewed out .
@@thomasfant1392 I am talking about boot camp where the official response to everyone enlisted or commissioned is yes/no/aye aye sir/ma'am. But if they are in the fleet and they call an enlisted member sir or ma'am, that enlisted member of the military will swiftly correct them and order them to say their enlisted rank and not to refer to them as sir or ma'am
@@thomasfant1392 why the two different standards? Why are the recruits taught to call enlisted members sir or ma'am, just to have them yelled at if they call an enlisted member sir or ma'am in the fleet
I guess it’s because you didn’t earn the right to call them by their rank so you call them by sir ma’am, which is a respect thing until you earn the title of Marine and then you would call them by their rank as such
I struggled with not seeing my family for three months but remember it’s all mental put all your feelings in a little bottle and put it away for a little bit !
Boot camp is what u make it. When u look back on it, it was a pretty good time and a very unique experience very few get to have. Oohrah

I mean, it just depends what job you get in the Marine Corps not every job is physically demanding
Thanks for your service going in January
Good Luck brother, you’ll never forget those days.

Enlighten me ? How do you lose your jobs?
I leave in 2 days. I don’t even know my general orders or ranks. I’m screwed
You back now? I’m lowkey in the same position

I’ve been thinking about the marine corps reserves because I have a good job and commitments at home. What do you think about that? Any advice?
The CHANGE IS FOREVER 🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸
When you say drill drill drill, what does that mean? Exercise?
Marching. I’d look at like a “final drill” video of usmc bootcamp to get a good idea of what drill is. It’s a lot of repetition to look good
Marching. Facing movements. Left face about face etc.
