Jim Carrey should have won the Oscar that year. What a powerful and honest performance. One of the best emotional performances I have ever seen.

      Does he have any oscars?

It's a good performance and showed his versatility, but not really Oscar worthy imo

@@haywoodjblome4768 HUH?? what that "Oscar worthy" acting is then?? Is it supposed to have overacting, pretentiousness or EXTREME loud emotions to be considered one?? If so then maybe you are right. Otherwise objectively you are very very wrong here, honestly. It's Carrey's ABSOLUTE best performance and is simply one of the greatest, most honest, and most nuanced performances of the 2000s decade. It stomps every performance 12 feet deep into the ground that was nominated that year besides Cheadle who was equally as great in Hotel Rwanda.

Bird scene is one of the BEST in all of cinema, writing wise. Nothing has ever given me such strong feelings of emotion. Its so honest, so real, so beautiful, and with the context so rawwwww.

i don't support any animal circus activity but i've always just loved how lovely they are in the street circus scene, and knowing it was all unprepared makes me love it more

What a beautiful scene, the one with the bird.

When I watched that scene with the bird it brought back a similar type of experience as a kid. It was so traumatic when I was a kid and I had buried that away because of the level of shame I felt. It is crazy to see that sort of thing in a movie and came to realize this sort of thing happens to a lot of people as they grow up. Really powerful to include it in the movie.

The BIGGEST tears every time. Its such a beautiful scene and representation of unrelenting love that no matter how obscure and new the situation is to you, you still have your s/o back.

jim was so good in this movie. it was also, at this time, such a big 180 or departure, from his comedic work. he's definitely one of the best to ever do it.

I will continue my journey from 18years of age into my 34th year so utterly in love with this film as if I have seen it for the first time. The film looks like a stranger to me at my first sighting and seeing it now I know so much about it as if we've been good friends for a lifetime, I catch it in waves now, tiny glimpses because it keeps it preserved and special that way. I hear faint sounds from a far and I feel instant feelings that remind me of warm memories, the kind of memories that u can't quite put ur finger on, but the feeling of love and loss intertwine with youth and a lifetime of pain for all worth
A child like essence that evolves into maturity and the depth is something, it's really something great
