Just seeing this and I love it. I have a jumpsuit that is way too long but I think would be cute with the jogger style look. I do not have a sewing machine but I will take this idea to my cleaners and have them alter the jumpsuit to this style. I just need to purchase the right elastic tape size!! Wonderful job!
Ahhhh I saw a lady with the CUTEST jogger style linen pants at the store last month and saw some pants at the store with a similar fabric. I bought it a week later but I was upset because I don’t like the flared look but this looks like a fun project! I know what I’m doing this weekend lol! I’ll let you know how it turns out!
Would this work on thick cargo pants? I need to taper them in at the hem, but the pockets on knee mean i cant! I think this may be the best option but im worried its going to look bunchy and weird. Its a good techinque because i wouldnt need to hem AND taper. hmm.
Without seeing the pants, I cannot say for sure if this is the best technique for your specific situation. You could follow this tutorial but instead of pulling the elastic tight at the ankle, you could make it more relaxed around the ankle. That may help you to narrow the pant hem without tapering the pant leg side seams.
@@TheCreativeSewist you're so wonderful for replying. Thank you so much. I have managed to bring it in by a few inches on each leg (about a 6 inch long taper) without it looking too odd. Very useful video thank you. Garment construction is so much more complex than it looks!!!

This is great! Tysm!
So glad the video helped you.
What type of elastic did you use? Was it knit, woven? Or some other type?
It was a woven elastic. To get the best results, use a good quality elastic that works with your fabric.
