  • With the seemingly infinite number of books available, it would take many lifetimes to get through them all. So instead, these are 10 books that everyone should read in their lifetime. I've broken things down into fiction and non-fiction with half of the video dedicated to each category.

I’d have to add Hamlet and The Old Man and the Sea

A few of my favorite fiction works include 11/22/63, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Grapes of Wrath, The Lord of the Rings, and Love You Forever (yes, the children's book).

A couple of my favorite non-fiction works are "A History of Knowledge" by Charles Van Doren, "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond, and "Fingerprints of the Gods" by Graham Hancock.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have Guns, Germs and Steel but will definitely check out the others 😊

Sapiens, Man's search for meaning, Thinking fast and slow, The great gatsby, 1984 and Crime and Punishment.
All these are definitely 10/10, totally worthy of being here.
But The Alchemist, is a pile of low quality new age pseudo-mysticism.
Its message is also in direct contradiction with every other book in this list.
You can't believe "when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. "
and then read crime and punishment and think, yep, definitely. Or Sapiens, not to talk about 1984.
Every other book in this list taught me taught me that if something is not going to happen is the universe conspiring for my desires

Yeah that’s a good observation around the different philosophy in The Alchemist. It did come into my thinking and I thought something more hopeful should be part of the list and the Alchemist is also very accessible. I also happen to believe in the idea that the universe will often give you anything you want but not everything. If you decide to prioritise one thing in life and pursue that with unwavering passion, often that will work out in some way. At what cost is another thing though.
I’m planning on making another video in the future on my favorite books whereas this one is more about books that I think everyone should read. Thanks for the comment 👍

Which books do you consider to be MUST READS for everyone? 🤔

Immediate downvote for recommending Sapiens, a simplification of history if ever there was one.

Is there any other way of writing about history other than simplifying it? We can’t cover every event from every single persons perspective and this telling of history is very deliberately high level and over a long time frame. The point is that with this perspective, you can then specialise on another more specific aspect of history which is why I recommend everyone to read it. There are other books that do a similar thing like “Guns, Germs and Steel”
