      Yes, from the point of view of a developing economy coal is still the future but even places like China can see the writing on the wall for coal and are investing in renewable energy sources, I know coal is still a major power source but its days are numbered and as economies advance its not going to be around.

    There are people who abuse the hell out of public assistance. That is a fact. People who are on SSI that can support themselves but choose to collect the assistance and sneak a job on the side. I've seen them, you've seen them. This is something that some politician has got to address and stop. I'm all for helping people, god knows I've needed it myself at times but there are people who live by it and it becomes a way of life passed down generations.

What would horse shoe makers look like if they were upset with cars because their business was going out of style? They would look crazy! But they didn’t! They didn’t cry and mourn and wait for someone to “bring their job back”! People need to stop whining! 100 years ago, people would uproot their entire family and move across county or even the ocean to find better opportunities! Now a days, people just wait!

    Ohio is an interesting state. I also dislike big urban cities. I prefer the suburbs / valley. The major cities are where the good jobs are at but sky high cost of living and lousy living standards. It is a state that is largely progressive when it comes to the economics yet conservative on social issues. What I heard and saw in this clip, represented a glimpse of that. Both political parties have abandoned the working class in terms of representing their economic interests -- i.e., Democrats are all for the white collar "professional" class whereas the Republicans are for the 1%. Those dirty well-paying "blue collar" jobs that existed in abundance, like coal, are disappearing. They are not profitable anymore. It's best to embrace the renewable energy, demand that the new energy jobs provide similar/equal pay and benefits. Obviously, this won't happen over night but how do you think coal miners got their high wage and benefits? Through solidarity through an union, protesting, striking, and voting and lobbying politicians that represented their interest. Learn the lessons from the past. Don't resist change, embrace it...but also remember what others did in order to achieve comfort.

    • @KyrieChii
      @KyrieChii 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree with every aspect of this. Renewable energy is the future, but unfortunately, this administration is too addicted to the money (& mostly overly-optimistic, unwavering support) of the coal industry/miners. They've even applied a tax to solar panels to discourage companies... When that is less damaging to the environment, along with being renewable... & was (before Trump) the fastest growing job market out there. It could've so benefitted these people... But they're also being obstinant because of the 'coal mining' heritage & intensely personal 'culture' & pride these families have. But it's only going to continue to hurt them not to move on.

    • @guillermorivas7819
      @guillermorivas7819 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Hakura, Thank you for the kind sentiments.
      Indeed -- it is very hard to move on to greener pastures when your great-grandpa, grandpa, dad, and you have lived and depended on coal for so long. The connection should not be to the job but to the worker solidarity (union) that enabled them to get 60k per year in a poor state like Kentucky/West Virginia. What renewable companies could do is offer better marketing of such jobs; offer similar/equal benefits that they had with Coal. Obviously, the 21st century renewable energies won't have a favorable climate nor political connections in those red states. Anyhow, I did hear about the 20-30% tariff that the Trump administration imposed on solar panels from Asia. It's not to help American workers per se but to slow down the de-industrialization of the dirty energy of the 20th century -- in which benefits the oil/coal/nuclear robber barons. Trump is only slowing down the inevitable.
      I believe it will take a Bernie Sanders (presidency), or someone very close to his way of thinking, to finally break such ties with the dirty energy of the 20th century. Bernie Sanders made a lot of headway in those Midwestern states, won over many voters.

    • @KyrieChii
      @KyrieChii 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Guillermo - We are of very similar mind on these issues. =)
      I too am a major supporter of Bernie & his revolution. I'm also fond of Nina Turner, one of his biggest allies, & think she would do well as a possible vice presidential candidate (if that was something she was interested in). I find Joe Biden (& those other corporate Democrats like him) extremely unpleasant. Bernie really _has_ made headway, especially with Republican voters in poorer states, & it's especially good that he can point to his long voting history to prove that he does what he says he will, & doesn't take corporate or PAC money, so is not beholden to anyone but the people who elect him.

    • @guillermorivas7819
      @guillermorivas7819 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As much as I like Bernie Sanders, he is not taking the reins of power head on. He is, however, giving voice to marginalized voices/perspectives that were once forbidden. It seems to me he is taking a back seat on most things. Yes, he is the figure of the political revolution but he is entrusting all of US (who agree with him) to follow and develop our own strategies/parties/perspectives.
      I don't think the powers that be will allow a Bernie presidency UNLESS Trump and the GOP really screw up, cause (serious) chaos. As I mentioned beforehand, Bernie doesn't seem interested in causing a mess within the Democratic Party just to win the presidency -- just like what Trump did to the GOP. I would really like to see Bernie as Vice-president though, if anything. It would be symbolic, drastically embolden what's left of the Left. My 2 cents.

    • @KyrieChii
      @KyrieChii 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do agree that Bernie would have to be willing to fight to win, considering how the party has been treating him (especially stealing the election from him last time by cheating), & it is struggling to erase him from any commentary about the upcoming 2020 run. But he is acting like a man planning to run for President, spending time traveling around the country & as you mentioned, putting effort into reaching out to Republicans & the disenfranchised Democrats (he's now polling at 80% support with Democrats, & is by far the most popular politician in the country).
      I don't think he would be able to enact the changes that need to be made as Vice President (such as getting money out of politics, which is responsible for everything that is wrong with politics now), & is by far the only person I've heard that is considering a run that I would vote for. I'm just so tired of the Democratic party as it is now, & feel that the only way to fix things is to either take this party over from the inside with the Progressives or develop a new party. They just say what voters _want_ to hear, like Obama, & then turn their backs on their voters once they get what they want, & devote all of their policy decisions on pleasing their donors. That is just one of many reasons I hated Hilary Clinton.

    Unemployment and poverty in general disproportionately affects African Americans. The Pacific Standard notes, “The overall national poverty rate is 15 percent, yet black poverty is nearly double that at 27 percent.” Meanwhile Hillary Clinton plans to bring in tens of thousands more Syrian refugees, who will require money, housing, jobs, and other resources. How is this not going to be an economic strain on Ohio and other cities' black citizens (or white citizens) who are in need of the same resources?

    People have to realize that in today's economy we have to be even more versatile in today's workforce and not limit themselves by saying, "I will only do this kinda work or I won't do that kind." When I was young and had 2 kids and a wife to support I didn't have any choice in the matter, I did whatever put food on the table and a roof over our heads. I've never looked at anyone let alone a politician to get anything done for myself and I never sit around listening to what they'll promise when they're voted in, I have always been brought up it you want something done you have to do it yourself, that way you'll know without a doubt it will get done!

    I always wonder what's going to happen to this country if something really bad happens(Depression,Another Natural Disaster, Mega Volcano, Earthquake, Attack from another country, Martial Law?) Are we going to help each other or hurt each other, looking around the last couple of years has shown me that we as a people would probably hurt each other at this point. We are not united in any way in this country and even though the signs(white only)are gone that doesn't mean we're blind and not walk into a place and see that we are definitely not welcome. I call it: "The New Jim Crow Era", because you won't see any signs, but usually there is a strict dress code, the cost the dine is high, there's a cover depending on who you are or looks, or you look in and see only one certain(white)race eating their along with families. This is definitely not the dream that the late Dr. Martin Luther King had envisioned for us when he made that famous speech back in August 28th 1963! Then again, it might be their dream speech because it's their world we're living in not ours!!!

    How many times must it be explained to these people. Yeah yeah blah blah we put Obama in and he did nothing for us. Now look at the congressional voting records, Republicans stopped him at every turn, gave him zero clear air. DONT VOTE REPUBLICAN if you want to have any chance at all and forget fucking Jesus, he aint gonna help AT ALL.

    When you vote, you may find yourself having to choose between the lesser of two evils rather than the greater of two goods but that does not make voting any less important.

    Well here we are end of 2019 and President Trump has kept his promises. At the end of the day you need to ask yourself. Is President Trump making America prosper. Like him or not he is what we need right now and he has my vote again in 2020.

    What voters need to understand is that running a government is not totally comparable to running a business. When a Trump business failed he could just bankrupt it and start over because of his wealth. Governing is the constant pursuit of an agenda/policy goal. Being a talented strategist is a key to being an effective leader. Donald Trump is not that kind of a leader.

    Unemployment rate does not reflect how many people don't have jobs. It simply represents the amount of people who aren't categorized as "discouraged workers" which are people who haven't has a job for something like two years.

    • @joycer732
      @joycer732 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Employment is UP, and unemployment is down. Record levels. You can try to minimize that, but Trump is making things happen for the better. Sorry if the truth hurts and you can't admit you were wrong.

    these people are very shitty. chicken rice beans grow your own food it doesn't take long and you have a lot of property to do so you got 3000 square feet of property use it forget about the job. You only need three things food water and shelter. Grow your own food advertise it sell what you don't eat and you'll be okay.

    • @KyrieChii
      @KyrieChii 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the 'shelter' isn't cheap in most situations... & you need heat & water too, so, you need a job to pay for it.
