Yes, your reviews are incredibly helpful. You cover everything so throughly making my decisions a lot easier. This is right up my alley and look forward to the review of the 5800H. Thank you very much!
Just wanna say I appreciate you including 3ds/ds games in all your testings, it was part of my childhood growing up, and home to an amazing backlog of underappreciated games that fills most of my retro gaming library, so i hope you don't stop them!
For an old fart like myself I'm like "is THAT your CHILDHOOD!?" but yeah, even as a 40-year old odl man I totally agree with you, the 3DS library is absolutely fantastic. One of the main reason I keep my 11 year 1080p LG 3D TV that utilize passive glasses (very comfortable). :) running 3DS games at high resolutions with 3D is fantastic!
Having finished the review; First mini pc that I'd actually consider buying. Seems SOLID, would probably get the upgraded version as I assume that would nullify the very few stutters that we saw.
Hi Retro Game Corps! I gotta say, I've been watching your videos for a long time now, and I enjoy them very much. You're most likely my favorite TH-camr in terms of this kind of content. If that isn't too much to ask, would you consider testing Final Fantasy XIV on some of those Mini PCs? There is a free trial of this game where it's completely free until lvl 60 so it wouldn't cost you anything more financially (would only cost one more download). There is an area in the game that could be a nice stress test for this game, it's a town called Limsa Lominsa. It's basically one of the 3 starting cities in the game and a lot of players are there at the same time. An easy way to get there is by simply starting the game as an Arcanist class or Marauder class. Thanks for considering this, it would mean a lot to me, especially if you test it on this mini PC and/or the 5800H version, as I'll be in the market for a new Mini PC in the coming months and this game is a must for me :)
Another great video. Have you done a Windows emulation guide like you do on other platforms? Would love to see your recommendations on BigBox vs standalones, RetroBat, etc. With the new x86 handhelds coming, I'd love to see one.
how are you playing donkey kong country on the WII? xbox controller? or Wii remote? I am trying to use my xbox 360 gamepad in batocera to play that game, but I am unsuccessful getting the game to map to my controller. Any help would be great.
Wow that was a lot of games I haven’t seen in a while. I am thinking about getting a Steam machine with SteamOS later this year so I appreciate these videos.
I just watched a review on The Linux Experiment about one of these Mini Forum PCs and was impressed! Even more impressed with this one too. Might pick this up for a HTPC/Server or maybe as an emulation console.
The size is about perfect for a mini-pc. The IO and expandability are about perfect for what I'd want. While I'm not looking for a new computer right now, in about 2 years when the Ryzen 8000 or 9000 come around I'll very likely just move on to one of MinisForum computers.
Been keeping an eye on your mini console reviews. I am looking for something that will play Wii and GameCube perfectly as well as Saturn and Dreamcast and below. This looks like it might fit the bill. Those dips had me a bit concerned, but the H that you will review should solve those right? Ready for an upgrade from my Super Console X King.
Love your videos. I watch pretty much all of your content. It would be great if when you test PS2/PS3 you show games that are exclusive to those consoles like Gran Turismo. You show halo on Xbox which was really useful.
Thanks for this review. I'm considering a switch/upgrade within the next year or so. Still using a Dell 3020 with a dual core Intel CPU. Old but then I tend to play older games. But I like idea of moving away from mid-tower case and playing some newer games. At first I looked at BeeLink (smaller and chepaer) but as of this week think Minisforum is going to be best. Mini PC powered via USB is huge.
Thanks for the video! I decided to order one of these instead of the upcoming um580 because my monitor can only provide 65watts per usb c. One other thing worth mentioning: ETA set the TDP on this um560 to 45 watts resulting in 60fps in botw with 720p.
@@RetroGameCorps i have the um560 now several days. Overall, i am very happy. Batocera runs great on this. Also cemu. What i dont like is that my Dell monitor 2722dz with 65w power delivery is not giving enough juice to boot the minipc :-( also not on stock tdp…. At 45w tdp even the original power supplier sometimes makes the minipc shutdown. Default tdp is 25watts as it seems Which is fine for me. Botw runs with 30fps at 720p like this without antialiasing. Cheers!
Maybe one more thing: I noticed that during your Cemu examples the wattage showed always around 15 watts which is quite low i think. On my side, Ryzen Controller was causing this behavior (limiting the tdp for some reason to 15w). Without ryzen controller installed/starting during windows start, tdp seems to be at 25w with stock bios settings. but still i am not so sure with all the tdp stuff… after a while of cemu, overall the wattage goes down again to 15 watts…
The 5800h is 100w yet I can't find a monitor that supports 100w of power delivery. So how is the USB c port on the 5800h going to do anything but receive power solely from a wall power supply?
What a powerful little box, truly worthy of the moniker "Mini PC". Also I don't want to bother you but I did your Badacera tutorial and after using it my PC won't boot Windows properly. I reseted the boot setting but it won't work now. Any tips to fix that?
If the boot priority is causing issues, you could also go into the BIOS and reset the CMOS settings. That will restore it back to factory settings but will also reset any other tweaks you have made (like if you changed the RAM timings, for example).
I have to say thanks because you have really help me get the most out of my Super Console X King and I'm really enjoying it. I'm thinking of getting something more powerful and ill probably give my TV box to my nephew. Do you know if you can run games off an external hdd? Thanks.
Received my UM560 today, excited to set up. After messing around for hours it was finally obvious to me all 4 USB-A ports were dead. Couldn't power a keyboard or mouse, or anything. Real disappointment, I feel this should have been caught before shipping. I've asked for the RMA procedure. Otherwise I'm a big Minisforum fan owning other models.
Great review thanks - I always get a lot from your take on things. I'm about to buy a mini PC - you've given close to excellent reviews to this model and also to the Beelink SER5. So which one do I get please? :-)
I would hold off for my UM580 video if you can. It just arrived yesterday and I have one other mini PC to review before that one, so I would say by next week you'll have a more complete picture. I haven't tested it yet but on paper it looks to be the best deal at this size/price.
@@RetroGameCorps Thank you. Yes, the UM580 looks good - I'm not sure how much it will cost in Australian dollars, including freight. I think I even like the UM560 in front of the SER5, except that it's plastic and 'm not keen. The specs in the UM580 might make offset the plastic, if the price is OK in my currency. I look forward to seeing your UM580 review and to discovering the brand/model of the mystery addition to your review list! Thanks again.
@@RetroGameCorps Hi again, well I purchased the UM580 back in October but it was lost in transit so I am now looking to spend my refund on another mini PC. You mentioned before that you were about to review another mini when I last wrote but the only one I can find on your site is another (expensive) Minisforum model, which is beyond my budget. Minisforum is now preselling a UM690 & UM590, superseding the UM580. I guess it's too early to find any reviews but may I ask please (a) what was the other model you were going to review - have missed it (b) have you had any feedback from users re the UM580 and, if so, is it mostly good and (c) are there any other affordable models that you are aware of that might now sneak ahead of Minisforums with the benefit of further experience? Do you have a preferred front-end you use with emulation? I typically use Launchbox but am leaning more towards Playnite recently
Yes, I didn't speak specifically to fan noise in this video but it's quite a bit quieter than the DroiX. I'd say it's about an average volume for this build size.
how is the wifi? is there some kind of antenna attached to wifi chip? i see it is hidden underneath the ssd. Wont it effect wifi signal without antenna?
SILLY suggestion, but could you include Roblox as part of your PC gaming benchmarks? Parents might also be inclined to purchase cheap PC's for their kids (i.e. ME) using an affiliate link if performance is good!
Very impressive. Good thermal performance. Better value for buck than DroiX Proteus 11, IMO. I am somewhat skeptical about it's (potential) thermal performance with Ryzen 7 5800H, (when becomes available) though🤔 Addendum: I really liked Mirror's Edge. The ending leaves a room for a sequel. But, that not what we got😢😢😢 EA DICE: Oh, no. We're not doing a sequel, but a💩💩💩 reboot! Debili...😡😠🤬
There was quite some time when I was considering these, but I feel that if I had a perfect guide for Dolphin on my M1 Mac mini, I could probably live without buying additional hardware. I mean: I have things running, kind of, but somehow it seems I never get the controls to work right, some games therefore just don't wanna work at all, plus I'm guessing I'm missing out on all the fluffy getting resolutions right or widescreen hacks etc.
Mac M1 hardware is actually really great for dolphin emulator !!! Just be sure to get the recent version with native M1 support (without the need of rosetta emulator). I tried also ps3 emulator on my macbook air m1, it was running god of war hd very smoothly. But it was running quite hot (no fan inside macbook air m1).
@@hadouken2123 Oh, I'm sure it is. But I'd still like a guide, because I just haven't got the time to read myself up through various endless threads to get the controls to work how I want them. Russ' guides are just so much better.
At that price point there aren't really any mini PCs available, the good ones are all usually around the $700 range at max. Once mini PCs with the 6000-series APUs start coming out that would be something to consider, but I don't know how long that will be. I would instead recommend a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, you could place it in a stand when connected to a monitor to have a nice small footprint, and then also have a gaming system to take with you on the go. I haven't really researched gaming laptops extensively but I think a laptop with an RTX 3050 Ti should be under $1,000.

Yes, I didn't speak specifically to fan noise in this video but it's quite a bit quieter than the DroiX. I'd say it's about an average volume for this build size.
@@RetroGameCorps Thanks for the response, I appreciate it! Defnitely looking forward to your 5800H review
Does this come loaded with all the games or do I need to upload them ?
Well worth the money.
This guys upload schedule is absurd.
Ordered a Minisforum mini PC on monday... it's Saturday now and they havn't even shipped yet. :/
i saw the cut you made on the box with the knife
between um560 and th50 which one would you buy???
Nice list games,Very good
Um580 is very good 👍🏼
will this run world of warcraft?
Do they come with games or do you have to download it?
What would you go for this or the TH50?
Any idea why Dell P2422HE monitor does not work with this pc in Alt mode?
how is the wifi? is there some kind of antenna attached to wifi chip? i see it is hidden underneath the ssd. Wont it effect wifi signal without antenna?
I can't believe this Killzone: Liberation slander
Well, let me be clear: it's not just Killzone: Libration that I don't really like, it's all the Killzone games :)
SILLY suggestion, but could you include Roblox as part of your PC gaming benchmarks? Parents might also be inclined to purchase cheap PC's for their kids (i.e. ME) using an affiliate link if performance is good!
Sure, I can take that into consideration for future videos, thanks for the suggestion :)
How well do you think this would run modded Minecraft?
Very impressive. Good thermal performance. Better value for buck than DroiX Proteus 11, IMO. I am somewhat skeptical about it's (potential) thermal performance with Ryzen 7 5800H, (when becomes available) though🤔
Addendum: I really liked Mirror's Edge. The ending leaves a room for a sequel. But, that not what we got😢😢😢
EA DICE: Oh, no. We're not doing a sequel, but a💩💩💩 reboot!
Debili...😡😠🤬
I was a big fan of Mirror's Edge, I haven't tried Catalyst though!
What is the current best mini pc at $1K? To push gaming as much as possible?
At that price point there aren't really any mini PCs available, the good ones are all usually around the $700 range at max. Once mini PCs with the 6000-series APUs start coming out that would be something to consider, but I don't know how long that will be. I would instead recommend a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, you could place it in a stand when connected to a monitor to have a nice small footprint, and then also have a gaming system to take with you on the go. I haven't really researched gaming laptops extensively but I think a laptop with an RTX 3050 Ti should be under $1,000.
There is a new 1 that has a external pcie and allows to be installed into a backplane linus is doing a review of it
The Elitemini B550
With this price its better to buy a strong cpu or a VGA card its better then a Mini PC
what is that all white game boy looking handheld in the background 6:53 ??
That’s an Analogue Pocket, I’ve made a few videos about it!
Retro,win600 or GPD XP plus?
Do you think the 5800 will emulate Switch better?
I do think it will fare better. It has two more cores, a higher TDP threshold, and higher clockspeed.
@@RetroGameCorps Thanks for the response. Can't wait to see you're review on it.
I like to clear that mini-pc can run does games?
Is there a "dummy" way of getting games on it easily? It has no SD card slot right? Does someone sell this preloaded perhaps?
can you use higher than 3200 frequency ram?
whats the fan noise like under full load?
are you only running at15w?
Currently watching and dont want to wait to find out. Does it come loaded with games?
No
Darn. Oh well.
It's a PC like any other, it just comes with a fresh install of Windows and you'd have to add all your own stuff to it.
Hi, please I love your channel and I really like emulators, especially batocera. I recently bought 2 Beelink mini pc s.
Beelink U59 Intel Celeron n5095 16gb 512gb
Beelink SER Ryzen 3 3200u 8gb 256gb
Which one runs better Batocera in the heaviest games?
Thank you so much.
Es posible un top 10 de Mini pc para jugar y emular?
Any updates on UM580 / 5800H model?
It'll be my next video, I should release it Saturday morning.
@@RetroGameCorps Awesome, thanks!
Hi! What is your batocera theme?
That one is Alekful NX.
@@RetroGameCorps Thank you.
can i do 1080p stream encoding with this
Batocera
Run for ps2 is it smooth ?
The 6000 series apu's are right around the corner. Hard pass.
I’ve been saying right around the corner for awhile now but honestly I think we’ll see them towards Xmas now hopefully??🤞
Better than TH50 with Iris Xe?
Will this work for world of Warcraft at ultra settings?
Hello can cover DOSBox pure on tv box ?
This is nice but I am waiting for mini pc M6 with upgrade to Intel i3 1215u it would be nice
That should be a nice chip for mini PCs, I think we should see some of those in the next few months.
Can you test 4g lte on the lite?
Will this make a good SteamOS machine?
Sure, you could even use that second SSD slot to dual boot both Windows 11 on the m.2 drive and SteamOS on the SATA SSD, and alternate between the two.
@@RetroGameCorps super tempting. You have this uncanny ability to make me want something I completely didn’t think i needed 10 minutes ago!!
Can you hook this up to a big screen TV
Sure! It should output in 4K or 1080p, depending on the resolution of your TV. It would work great as a home theater PC or as a Batocera gaming PC.
@@RetroGameCorps Thank you for going back to me I have some steam games that I'm looking to play and I want to make sure that the video card can handle it so one of the games I'm looking at playing is wolcon lords of Mayham And it requires this type of video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 6850 and last epoch nVidia GTX 660ti or AMD R9 270 with 2+ GB of VRAM I'm wondering if I could run these games on the highest settings. Any type of advice would help these are my highest setting games are usually don’t play AAA titles. I have a PS five for that and a gaming PC. This would Morley be for retro gaming and some steam games
@@loverelationshipsclips You likely won't be able to play that game on high settings with this PC, you would need something with a dedicated graphics card. Looking at the age and power requirements of the game, you can probably expect 1080p low settings to be about 30 frames per second on this mini PC.
@@RetroGameCorps thank you you’re the best I am still getting the machine I just won’t play those games on it I can play some other ones. Greatly appreciate your quick responses it’s because of this that I’m subscribed to your channel and I will be picking up this machine as well.
Got the um560xt
You installed the hard drive incorrectly. Those prongs go into the screw holes.🙂 And I see that the case is broken in one corner.☹
Hi, yes someone else made the same comment and so I took it apart, and sure enough yeah the prongs go in the screw holes! As far as the corner being broken, I think you're referring to what looks like a crack in a corner in the beginning of the video...that was a cat hair that I didn't notice until afterwards. It does look like a crack though!
Actually, I just looked at it, and yeah there is a small crack in it! Didn't even notice it until now. It must have been when I was adding the bottom cover again.
In Russ we trust
Russ this guy tried to sucker me into believing I won .should report him !
Why are reviewers so allergic to using FSR?
I don't mind FSR on handhelds, but I find that it is a little jarring to my eyes on a full size monitor or TV.
