A crack in crown sheet wouldn't end the locomotives carrer. Firebox sheets are consumable and where routinely replaced throughout any steam engines service life. Gotta build the drama toward a climax lol. I've heard enough from this video.
It's a locomotive. The "engine" is the running gear of a steam locomotive. My recollection is that after its last revenue run in 1955 pulling the Coast Daylight it was stored in L.A. until 1958 whe it was stupidly sent to the City of Portland. Never could understand that. They demonstrated what a mistake that turned out to be.
We can all thank Jack Doyle for keeping 4449's running gear in good condition until his death in 1972. Had he not done so, 4449 likely wouldn't have been eligable for the Freedom Train.
This is something that is worth tearing up to. The photographs, the music, everything. It's beautiful.
Oh guy of the Amethyst, you edit the video of the anniversary of Union Pacific X series.
Saw her way back in 1984 or so in Arizona and she's still running today in 2021 - Amazing...
Thank heavens 4449 was restored all by one man, a hero,
Can't lie, I kinda like the GS-4's in black without the streamlined shrouding
