Wow! My grandfather Oliver W. Buswell was the most senior Steam qualified B&M Engineer in April 1975, he had orders from White River Junction VT to take this Freedom Train as Engineer to Manchester NH. I was almost 10 years old and I rode with him in the Cab all the way but suffered a terrible cinder in my eye which my grandfather could do nothing about it but told me to wash it down which I did. Ross Roland was in a car behind and radioed Oliver to give it more steam and my grandfather knew that road as that was his territory and said we need to take water in Franklin NH. Ross said "keep going" and Oliver did just that. When arriving in Manchester and the Fireman got up on the Tinder, my grandfather was curious just how much water was in it, it was bone dry! The only water in it was in the Boiler!
I would LOVE to see if anyone has pictures or videos of this run Oliver was Engineer of. Thank you for posting this video.

Amazing to think that Ross Rowland and crew could restore her in just thirty days after rescuing her from a scrap yard.

I don't know anything about this engine. When the Freedom Train came through San Luis Obispo Ca it was being pulled by the 4449.
