One tip for you. At 13:20 in the vdo, you'll see a white board with green bowl painting. This is ""Shell Chuon Chim" sign which is equivalent to MICHELIN Guide but in Thai version. It was established in 1961. In my experience, It is quite guaranteed that you will not be disappointed trying these Shell Chuon Chim's.
Great video as always. We love your food scoring system and intend to do the same when we return in March 👍👍. One place on our list for China Town is Odean Noodles. They specialise in crab claw wonton noodles. Would be awesome if you can review this place 😊👌
everything looks so amazing, loved how you gave ratings for the foods you tried! we can't believe the dim sum was so affordable!! 😍love the diversity of Lays chips in every country, we've heard the tomato ones are amazing, have you tried them before?!
The pickled veg that looks like coral is actually Sichuan pickled veg (at least thats what we called) its very salty and sour but when you process it right it can be made into several nostalgic dishes. Restaurant that serves a dish made out of this specialty is going extinct so it’s really more of a home ingredient. Also, the black moving thing in the water is actually sea cucumber… yea some people do eat those nasty looking thing.
You guys are really lucky to be able to try the old man mini dumplings.... On my My first time there, there was a long Q..and the dumpling happen to sold out just afew Pax in the Q before us ... And the next 2 try there in the morning. .the stall is not open ... So didn't have the chance to try yet...😢
14.37 if I'm not wrong, the black things in the basin are called "Sea Cucumbers" or "Pling Talay" in Thai. It is one ingredient often added to Chinese dishes with its gelatinous texture. BTW, enjoy watching you guys video❤
Hi guys, enjoyed your video like always. one thing though the one that you thought it was fish chicharron it actually is fish maw thai-chinese people use them to make a certain soup or stir fried. Thai people also have our own version of pork chicharron as well ❤
5:10. Yes Lod-Chong Singapore (ลอดช่อง สิงคโปร์(is a type of Cendol in Malaysia or singapore. That is not Singapore. The old shop located in front of Singapore movie theater. 10:45. Actually it is Kanom Pung Na Moo (Pork bread-ขนมปังหน้าหมู). Not fishcake. Normally eat with Ajaad Sauce (same one as cucumber salad that eaten with pork satay)
Hey Anthony, if you want to experience cold whether in Thailand you have to go north or northeast. Don't expect cold whether in Bkk 😁😁😁 normally winter in bkk last only few days. I was going to tell you guys that it's about time to visit the north/ northeast last year year was 4degree here in Loei province (mid Nov-December)
November 15th is Loy Krathong Day. I would recommend you to prepare in advance. If you want to go to this festival in a normal way, you can stay in Bangkok. There are events along the river or in parks with ponds everywhere. But if you want to experience the grandeur and traditional culture of floating lanterns. I recommend going to Sukhothai or Chiang Mai. I have seen many foreigners moved to tears and maybe you can too.😊
The name of that dessert is Lod Ching Singapore. It was named after the first store that originally sold the dessert, which was located next to the Singapore Theatre in the past. Later on, it was referred to by a shorter name, which is why we now call it Singapore." Btw, the dessert is a southeast Asian thing. I believe it is called 'Cendol' in English but it is pretty common in southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Phillipines.
Have u checked out the oldest herbal juice shop more than 120 years , " Kan-Kee " around the Lod-Chong Singapore shop ? They have lots of herbal drinks but the most famous one is " Nam-Kom ( bitter juice ) " which tastes very very bitter but good for health.........
China is known for food but most people don't know is also the largest wholesale market in China town if you see most kiosk stores in the shopping mall most of the stuff is coming from Sumpang which is next to Chinatown
ya, in USA 30 years ago, the asian stores sold the minced pork buns totally FILLED with the meat filling. Nowadays, the meat filling they give you is tiny and unsatisfying - feels like you are eating more of the bun than there is meat, it sucks. And whereas they used to put in the minced pork filling, a half slice of hard boiled egg, now you're lucky to get a quarter slice of hard boiled egg. In other words, they give you less and charge you more for things nowadays, cutting corners. I prefer the minced pork bun over the sweet bbq pork bun. In thai it is called salapao, chinese is baozi.
Woah! You finally tried Lod Chong Singapore! I’m actually friends with the owner’s son, we went to the same college 🤣. They’re the legend of Lod Chong and basically gave the name to almost every Lod Chong in the country. You can find Lod Chong Singapore everywhere in Thailand because people thought it was a "Singapore style" Lod Chong, but the name actually comes from this shop. Back then, they were located in the Singapore Theatre (which doesn’t exist anymore), so people just called it that. And somehow their Lod Chong was so good that the name spread far beyond through decades, until people won't even know the origins. Their Lod Chong jelly is unique too, more gelatinous and translucent than typical Lod Chong you’ll find around the country. And their coconut milk isn’t too sweet like you guys said. I really love it! P.S. Lod Chong is a dessert you’ll find across Southeast Asia. In Malaysia and Indonesia, it’s called Cendol. Thai desserts actually share a lot with our neighbors 😋
How funny! 😅 Makes why so many people were going in and out to eat their Lod Chong. We are definitely fans of it ourselves now 😁. Will have to check out some other cendol places 😃
@ well, I’ve noticed specifically the little Saigon areas of USA, where there are a bunch of Vietnamese businesses clustered in an area, they will have Lod Chong available for sale
your editing is scary! immediately after Caroline said "We're going for our favourite pork bun. Can you guess where it is?" you cut to dogs. i was like, "WHAT?!?! dog meat bun?? didn't you say pork???" then i remembered this was not China. it's Thailand. LOL
Legend of "Lod Chong Singapore" in Thailand This dessert does not originate from Singapore. In the past, the name of this dessert came from a street vendor in front of a movie theater name "Singapore". People have called it "Lod Chong Singapore" until today. The word "Lod Chong" comes from the flow or the escape from the hole of the dough making method of this dessert. Combining the two words, it became "Lod Chong Singapore" until today. 😄🧋🍧
Lod Chong Singapore but it not from Singapore. Thai also has noodle but you can’t find in Singapore. There is a reason for it the history about it course they use to be in front or by movie theater name Singapore(doesn’t exist anymore)people just call them like that for just for easy memories later any food place in front or around the theater call Singapore …!! Singapore …that yummy.Even Singaporean might not know why.

For pork and rice,

I am not sure about the date because this festival is held according to the lunar calendar. It is different every year.
Our initial plan was to go to Chiang Mai but we ran into some issues that might restrict us from going/celebrating it 😩

today, have u go the royal boat ceremony thing? I go and its so crowded, atleast i saw a little bit of the boat but not that clear.
