    I was the crew chief on 532 (first F-16 in the video) when I arrived at Aviano AB in 2005. Glad to see she’s still going. I also Crewed 001 (6:23:49)she was the Wing Flagship at that time, best jet I ever crewed.

      Do you also have "monday morning" jets that always has something special always a code 1 or 2 or 3? Or normally most on average like the rest of the other jets? And can one pilot were the plane out more then an other pilot? Flow 3 hours f16 and was just wandering. Thans in advance. Why dont you do a interview with some crew chiefs and learn more on the work around the jets would be a great edition....

    I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 1971 to 1976 (F100D covert to F-4D) Then back in 1989 on the F-111F and convert to F-15E and F-15C in 1991 retired 1996 and worked HGV driving for the base till 2004 when I came home to Florida. Lived in Munford, Beck Row and finally in wifes home town of Thetford.

    The F16 is a beautiful bird, the F15 sounds wonderful. This viewing area was on my work-patch a few years ago and I'd often stop for a break and enjoy the show.

    Fantastic action, much more interesting than a normal airport by many a mile, can't get enough of this :-), in the past stood their at the fence, feeling the ground shake when they take-off is a awesome feeling, goes right through the body too.

    Can't beat the fast movers...... Ever thought about doing the Mach Loop Jerry??
    The AV tail squadron indicator is from Aviano AB in Italy, hence the AV, and the F-16's are from either the 510th... the Buzzards... or the 555th... the Triple Nickle squadron.

    I think lakenheath 48th wing has c variant f15’s , I live 12 miles away but mainly I get mildenhall traffic passing over, around 3,000 ft on their finals, the eagles do fly over fairly regularly, there is nothing like seeing 4 eagles overhead break off to get into pattern before finals, except seeing the C130-J’s of the 67th flying low over the fields playing follow the leader.

    ..The squeezing of the nozzles is done by the combination of hydraulic cilinders/jams and flight controls (gas handle) for the position of the nozzles to build up pressure for a quick take off.. Much of the Fighter jets are equipped with variable nozzles mounted at the end of the engine.. In static thrust and full thrust/full throttle the nozzles are in the most open position and in military dry thrust (100 % thrust without afterburner) the nozzles are more closed/squeezed to give more power..
    In open position in 100 % thrust with afterburner it gives a serious boost for a quick and short take off... This also is possible with am unrestricted climb of the aircraft..

    Good morning. Loved watching Lakenheath live yesterday. Do the residents get a noise council tax reduction.
    Watched longer than I should but fascinated.
    As a young child I visited the Lakenheath camp at Christmas. It was like fairyland with all the houses decorated. My uncle ran a pub in Mildenhall
    Which was frequently visited by the Americans. Happy memories

    The first combat use of thrust vectoring was by RAF and RN Navy pilots in the Falklands in 1982. It absolutely stunned the Argentine pilots when the British aircraft performed manoeuvres that had never been seen before. 🇬🇧🇬🇧✌✌

    The F-16 remains my fav. though i know it is out of date sadly 😭
    Very good sound on the planes.
    You should turn up the sound more on yourself ...on the new ones too🙂
    Would be nice to hear what you say, sir 🙂👍
    You do a very good job and your filming is improving 🙂
    When that is said, with all this action going on, i would have given up filming it 😅😅

    The F16s are from Aviano airbase which is a USAF base in Italy.
    And no, you are not used to hearing F16s flying from Lakenheath, they are F15s, although both air-frames run the same engine.
    Visiting F16s to Lakenheath come from Vokel, Aviona, Belgium and Norway.

    Thrust vectoring is used on the F-22 Raptor that is one of the main reasons it can do the things it can do in flight

    Marvelous video! Never ever seen this massive kind of action. The GAF (german air force) better does not see this, otherwise they definatly die of depression rather quickly.... Most Squadrons manage to bring up 6 to 8 planes a day. Cheers from Germany Jerry!

      Gernhardt Reinholzen this isn’t normal for Lakenheath, this was part of a two week surge exercise the fighting 48th carried out.

  • @gazzareece7082

    All fighters have AB, all nozzles move, when they narrow thet are going to 100% power then from there they advance to AB and this is when the nozzles open full wide to light the AB which is just dumping raw fuel into the aft section and lighting it off, just a controlled explosion. There is no thrust vectoring on the 15 or 16.

    • @brentboswell1294
      @brentboswell1294 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the "Turkey Feathers" on the nozzle narrow, it's because the engineers who designed the aircraft are using the Venturi effect to increase the speed of the exhaust flow out the back of the engine...a jet aircraft cannot go any faster than the exit speed of the exhaust stream! It's precisely the opposite of what's needed to make the engine quiet...

    ..Thrust vectoring control or TVC is the position of angle of the nozzles, together combinatie with the flight controls.. The new F-22 Raptor is build with thrust vectoring.. It is made therefore to make the aircraft more stable in advanced and quick manoeuvring as well much shorter take offs..

  • @gooner72
    @gooner72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whoever said that the F-15 has thrust vectoring engines is wrong, only one prototype F-15 ever had this technology but it NEVER went into production. The only US fighters to ever have thrust vectoring capabilities are the USMC AV-8B, the stunning F-22 and the F-35. The F-22 only has pitch thrust vectoring whilst many Russian aircraft have fully functioning thrust vectoring nozzles, they can move in all directions.
    What you see when a military aircraft takes off with afterburner is the use of variable geometry convergent/divergent nozzles to concentrate the flow of gasses to the afterburner. It is not used for manoeuvres in this form..AT ALL, just for use of the afterburner.

    The first jet red arrows used was the Gnat, followed by the hawker hunter to the curent T1 hawk , I think in around about six years time maybe later due to covid they will receive new Hawk aircraft, after the valley incident they were asking the mod to bring forward the planned production of the new aircraft a couple of years ago now , the article didn't mention that they will be still T1 model or the T2 model?

    can't agree with the quality of the t-shirts Jerry. I got two - one was the BJTV Los Angeles shirt....wore it once, washed it according to the instructions and when done the logo colours had leaked out very badly. The other was a custom job - the A380 flying me to LAX photo I submitted was of superb quality but what I got back on the t-shirt was extremely grainy. Very disappointed indeed. I did complain to teeSpring who didn't care one bit.

    • @BigJetTV

      So sorry to hear this Sy :( We have no control over the quality of teespring, only what we sell on our own store www.bigjet.shop/ Where we source the stock ourselves and make sure the quality is up to standard. I'll contact teespring myself over this. It's not acceptable to provide poor quality and service!

    FFS, if you guys don't know the difference between an F15 and a F16,
    how can you understand the difference between a F15D and F15 E ???
    The Italian Airforce have NEVER operated the F16,
    Aviano is a USAF base in Italy.
    "F15 is firing up." No, it is an F16,
    You won't get much smoke, these are turbofans not turbojets.
    Nice footage but your commentary is GARBAGE.

    • @09464
      @09464 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Italian Air Force Flew the F16 for 8 years until the delivery of the Eurofighter and Turbofan engines do smoke, the MIG29 and F4 are two examples.
