can you also set other godox flashes as slaves ? like the v1 on camera and a ad300 or 200 as secondary ?
Yes I do this same thing with the v1 and ad200

At about 2:20 you verified that the flash is a slave, but you didn't change that on either one. I'm failing to see how to change it.

I don’t understand the question because I don’t know what you mean by “RX mode”. I assume receiver, but receiving IS slave mode…

@@damiandonach4322 On the Nikon anyway, RX = slave mode. The firmware on my V1 is 1.4. I suspect somewhere along the ling they changesd how it's called in that menu. All I know is that when it is in RX mode it acts as an off camera slave controlled by the transmitter on the camera.

Hey Damian, I believe that has something to do with the Canon model specifically, and I unfortunately have no experience with it.
Just a heads up to everybody confused about not being able to change from RX to Slave. Godox made a change in the terms to be "politically correct". The change was made after this video was made via firmware update. Master mode is now TX (Transmission) mode and Slave is now RX mode (Receiving).

Quick question. My second flash reads: RX where yours reads: Slave. I have no communication between the two flash heads. What am I missing?

Hi Robert. Great videos on the Godox range. I have recently bought the V1 and 3 x AD200pro. Am I right in thinking that you can't get the V1 if used as master to turn off and become a transmitter only. Don't seem to be able to set my V1 to show the MABC (2min in your video) and therefore my V1 still flashes. I was wondering in the Master mode only happens when you have more than one V1. Be good to know thanks.
Any V1 users here find that the flash head becomes loose? Have noticed flash head flops down from vertical to 90 degrees whilst moving around in shoots. Would it be an easy fix? Flash is out of warranty. Thank you.

Hi Robert! I just switched over to these flashes for my new mirrorless setup, and I'm looking for a way to quickly turn off the camera mounted master flash in certain scenarios, and just use it as a trigger to group A or B. It's a pretty easy switch on Canon and Yongnuo flashes, and the symbol looks similar on Godox as well.
Do you know of any solutions? I cannot find anything on it in the manual either. :(
(an example of why I would be needing this would be shooting through a crowd during wedding toasts where I'd want to grab 1-2 images of ambient light in the foreground and let A and B flashes illuminate the bride and the groom... then immediately pop it on to get a guest's reaction in the crowd) Thanks!
Well, Canon defaults to group A as the on camera master and anything off camera in group A. So to me the solution would be to switch your off camera A + B groups to B + C, that way you have independent control of the on camera flash as group A, and turn that off when you don't need it.
How about the same thing for a Sony?
Can the wireless receiver units not use HSS when in RX mode? Can't get HSS to appear on the receiver unit when in slave mode
my slave says "Rx". Video shows that "slave" is automatically set, so don't know how to change

Very good video...hey in your video I dont see that you used any triggers, so is it possible to use two godox v1 without triggers ? If thats the case thats nice ...Iam new to photography.

I have been searching all day to figure out what is going on with this... how are you able to get your hss to work with your v1 in slave mode?! It works fine with my 860s, and it'll work if I have a v1 on camera and an 860 off camera in slave mode, but for the life of me I cannot get a v1 that's off camera in slave mode to enable hss. There is no sync button for it. 🤔
There's nothing to do on the receiving unit, it's automatic. Whatever is on camera commanding needs to send the HSS signal. Would have to be enabled in camera, on the commander unit (flash or trigger), and the shutter speed would have to be above sync speed. Then HSS should function n o problem.

Hey Robert, I love your stuff. I know this is an old video but does anyone know if there is a way to set the on camera speed light to TTL while keeping the off camera lights set to manual?
You would use the M group in TTL and ABC in manual. (Or on Canon, A group in TTL with B-E in Manual).

Yeah that’s trying to use the cameras receiver system instead of the Godox.
I believe Slave has been change to RX after updating the Godox Firmware.

Hey @Robert. I noticed my Zoom R2 will still fire the slave AD-200 even if I turn off that group. Is that a glitch you found?
I've never used the Zoom R2 as a master for other lights.

How do you switch off HSS in the master?
Hit the sync button. But, it’s irrelevant, as even if it shows as active (with the HSS symbol), the flash will only actually fire in HSS if you also exceed the sync speed. So just because the symbol is there doesn’t mean it’s firing in HSS.
@@robhallphoto There is no access to sync button once you make V1 the master. Even if you disable in the main screen, it is on by default as it shows on your screen. Even if you use the shutter speed below 250 it only fires HSS (I never expected that). Try it, you will see that the exposure will be lower.

@@Fairuzmuddinabudinejad Feature not problem. Around 2020 firmware updates changed the name to Rx (for receive).
Loved the video, very informational! One question: when I click on the far right "lightning" button and on the second page of my V1 Flash, I don't see MABC, I'm only seeing ABCD Groups, and with that my flash cannot be used as Master, I even tried resetting the flash but no use, is there a setting to bring the M controls?
It’s because you are using a Canon model and Canon’s off camera system is different (and unintuitive). Group A controls your master, as well as any off camera lights in group A.

How do you adjust the power level of the master flash?
depends on the brand. On Nikon, Sony, Fuji there's an "M" group which is the master flash. On Canon the master flash is automatically in A group and not separated from external flashes on A group, which I think is dumb.
@@robhallphoto oh that’s very dumb…I do use Canon and that’s the exact issue I was seeing. Would it work if I set my two externals to C & D and have my two on-camera v1s as A&B? Or do I just have to deal with my on-camera being the same ratio as my off-camera?

Mine says abcd and no m mode..
That's because yours is Canon and on Canon A group sets the power of the Master (on camera flash) as well as any off camera groups on group A. Whereas everyone else has M for the master only, and A B C are off camera only.

@@popcornparam I can't make a video about it because I don't have Canon flashes or a Canon camera. Basically if I did a video on it it would say exactly what my response does, there's nothing to add to that.
Trigger to slaves only without firing the off camera flash...that doesn't make any sense. The slave flashes are off camera.
So how do you control the ON Camera flash? if you want to use 3 flashes - 2 behind the subejct and one on the camera - hwo do you control the one on the camera its self?
