At first I was puzzled why you put the split die 'backwards' inthe die holder. Then I saw you supported the die (not the die holder) from the tailstock. Excellent idea which I'll use from now on. Many thanks.
Oh, I needed a good laugh tonight. Thank you for the video. I like the idea of the shanks. Really well done. I look forward to your next video. By the way, your video quality is very good!
PLEASE do more videos.....your work is sensational. I can see some of the tooling you have made...like your vice stop.....please show us. I am sure they are "Gems". Cheers & all the best, David (Aus)
Thank you! I have plenty of ideas for new videos, but right now there is so much other stuff stealing my time, so this hobby must wait for a while. The vice stop actually uses the same tapered thread clamping mechanism as described in this video.
The bar tool holder has a morse taper for drill chuck or larger drills. The tool holder didn't have other use for me, until I saw this: th-cam.com/video/eAXqEfCr5jI/w-d-xo.html
like the chuck idea on the diegrinder , i have a tapping T bar i keep loosing the beaks on , this might be the solution to that (broaching square in instead of round hole)
I have never thought or tried that, let me know how it went. If it needs more force the nut will stretch and may be a good idea to make a beefier nut. The slits can be applied later if needed, a mini hacksaw would do fine in stead of a slitting saw.
@@kerkkonenahaima7322 The milling power chucks work by squeezing a non-slit hole, they have a lot more squeezing force though as there are needle bearings that act as the thread and less taper. I might consider making a less tapered and finer thread and nut by cnc once I get my cnc lathe done
@@MF175mp The CNC-cutted threads would work much better than tap and die made ones. They tend to end up slightly polygonal and there is a certain ratchet effect when tightening. The slittings even pronounce that, you may be on the right track here!
@@kerkkonenahaima7322 thanks for the encouragement, I will experiment some with that once I'm set up to do that 👍 I could make even the normal end mill holders like that if it turns out working well as the good holders are expensive and the chinese ER collets have always some runout and it would be more rigid too.
@@kerkkonenahaima7322 I have ditched this idea for now as I got a much simpler design now; I will just put a hole in the shaft with nothing else and use loctite to secure the end mills! I did one yesterday and it's super simple to do! I only need to check what's the best loctite so that I can remove the tool by heating but it shouldn't come off with the heat from the tool. I have a lathe that would be precise enough to do even shrink fit holders but I don't have precise enough inside measuring tools yet for that.
Barfie? Lovely name. I didn't read the text on her shirt first and later (her arm being in the way) misread as "strong girls make holes". I think that would be more fitting. I have a (2) question: Where were you hiding before, and why didn't you make TH-cam videos? Seriously: awesome content, I hope we will enjoy it more in the future.
Thank You! The idea of making own videos has been around for several years, but never haven't had that extra time to execute that thought. Since last year the Covid economical depression took down all my Side business workshop assignments, so finally I had proper time for this. I made a list of undone project ideas that could have some interest in machinist mined audience. That list got quite long and as I have received very supportive feedback so far, there will be more content out later.
The Barbie doll at the end of the video absolutely hilarious great video thank you for sharing
Your technological, and comic genius know no bounds. Thanks for sharing both.
Just found your channel.
All I have to say is that it was a pleasant surprise! Really good content and video editing, so thank you.
Thank you for watching. I'm equally glad to reach my target audience!
LOLZ , I never expected adult content from a channel like this. Nice!
Same here, just found your channel. Can't express enough how good content, editing and ideas are.

Like the bar you used to support the die holder. Something useful for the tool holder you never use 😀

Great content and execution.
Great humor as well.
Would love to see more content. 👍
Dam you make me laugh ! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time ! thank you for that .
That happens only when I try to make an educational video🤔

Superb. Well done.
I will try this out at some point. Probably works without the slits also if the hole is precise enough

very good video
Great. Funny too
great sttuff... a new channel...checked it out...
That did look like a hard to reach area. Any better luck lately?
All hard to reach areas are carefully avoided here, thanks for caring
