I really enjoy the innovative designs you have come up with. I saw a roller design at Vans Aircraft that was 14-is feet long and had 1" dia rollers. It was extensively reinforced with backup rollers like yours. They do thin aluminum and were fitting for end to end numeric control and radial control of the bending roller to make the airfoil shapes on the leading edge of an airplane wing. Your design brings the general concept into reach of us mere mortals. Thanks for super interesting videos. Hope you can have one each year!!
That was super interesting info. The roller support bearing system is so obvious solution, why it's not more commonly used, at least on wider rollers? This years video is already half way shoot, so there is a good change for release just before Christmas.
Thanks! I wish there were more old school scrap yards left here too. Best way to recycle metals is to go without melting it first. It's such a pain here to buy small amounts of raw stock materials from the large metal suppliers.
Fantastic build ! If you connect the 2 lower rollers with gears or sprockets/chain, the rolling process will be much easier. You could also connect the top with a loose chain for 3x the working power. My roll machine has 2 of them connected with direct gears. (Top and 1 bottom)
Thanks! I will someday make the chain upgrade for the lower rollers. The upper roller should have reversed rotation, so simple loose chain does not do the job. When making extreme cones, the upper roll is placed in very much diagonal position in one way or another, making such gearing quite difficult to make.
Thanks, I tried cranking it with a cordless drill and it was a bit hasty, some reduction is defenitely needed. But i think it's more fingersafe to keep the hand cranck.
I have strong intend to improve my skills and tools in sheetmetal work. I envy specially craftmen who make straight sheet to complex car body panels. The project I needed the cone shown in this video takes quite alot of sheetmetal work on stainless steel. Stay tuned for future video!
Tell me about it. I just came from the workshop, had to "undo" 0,5m (1 1/2ft) perfectly good weld bead. The parts were slightly wrong way around. You don't realize how deep the weld penetrates until you have to dig it out.
Kiitos videosta! Kuinka isoja kartioita voi systeemilläsi tehdä? Minulla olisi tarvetta tehdä katkaistu pyöreä metallikartio mitoilla Diameter 1 = 600 mm, Diameter 2 = 260 mm, korkeus 670 mm. Seinämä saisi olla paksuhko, koska valmis kartio ei saisi juurikaan menettää muotoaan kovassakaan tuulessa...Voisitko ystävällisesti heittää jonkun vinkin? :-)
Moi, Tarvitsemasi kartio on ihan videolla esiintyvän mankelin äärirajoilla. Tötterösi vaipan sivun pituudesta tulee 691mm, ts. Mankelissa tulisi olla senverran leveyttä. Mun härvelissä leveyttä suunnilleen sama 691mm. Mikä materiaali ja paksuus mielessä? Tällä mankelilla en ole kokeillut kovin paksuja levyjä täydellä leveydellä.
Sorry for late reply. The bars I used are 45mm in diameter, but the design can be scaled to suit your needs and raw stock that is most convinient for you. If you have a CAD-system at your disposal, check out the 3D-model for my units dimensions: grabcad.com/library/slip-roll-for-sheet-metal-cones-and-cylinders-1
el modelo CAD se puede encontrar en el servicio GrabCad: grabcad.com/library/slip-roll-for-sheet-metal-cones-and-cylinders-1 Las dimensiones se pueden cambiar de acuerdo a sus propias necesidades.
Hello! No drawings, but the CAD-model in STEP format can be found here: grabcad.com/library/slip-roll-for-sheet-metal-cones-and-cylinders-1 Requires registration, but is free. As mentioned in the video, some chain or belt should be added to the bottom rolls. Take my design as a reference for your own improved version.
As a learned language I'm constantly struggling with my english pronounciation. Based on your grammar, your starting point seems quite similar. Hit the mute button and enjoy at least the picture.😎

This was really well done. I wish I had a scrap yard that had steel like yours!

Great project excellent work👍

Nice job. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Very enjoyable videos. Great humor and skills.
Great Job Kerkko, perhaps the next update for the roller is to add a 90 degree drive with an old drill to turn the roller.

Best design ever🤔👍👍👍
Many clever design solutions. 👌
Love the level of attention to all details as well.
Posted before watching the making of the elbow. 😃👍 Brilliant!
Amazing job bro.👍🙂👋
Sheet metal is a fine art largely lost, that sheet metal bracket in other vid was Awesome.
I hope youtube algorithm wakes up !

Best thumbnail.
Dogs are the best for a click bait, unfortunately Nipper doesn't appear on the video.
Cone of shame ;-)
Th🎉ank god for the angle grinder eraser

Question, do u sell this as kit? I can put together and weld it. Is that possible and how much??
Sorry, no kit to sell.
Please size & upper side round bar locking system.
I make try this machine 😎

Me gustaría saber saber las medidas de las piezas para poder hacer una gracias

Hi from Denmark. Do you share your drawings?

Pleas find another man to explain your message. Your talking is very hard to understand. You voice are mumbling
