Tylerisms: Well that was a miserable hour and a half. I'm thinking as much as I water this, I should have planted something here. As the days wears on, my expectations of what I can get accomplished becomes more realistic. My favorite part of a project like this is when that picture in your mind begins to take shape right in fromt of yor eyes.
My dad was a welder in the 40s for Todd Shipyards and passed at 33. I married a man whose father was a Bremerton Shipyard welder without knowing it. Then found out the new husband and my father shared the same birthday. Oddities in life.
My Dad was a welder/fabricator as well. His welds were almost undetectable. FTR is right up there! Dad worked for a machine shop and later for Eugene Fruit Growers. There he welded stainless steel tanks.
Tyler, I would add a couple of D-rings or something like that on the top rail of that panel so that if/when the day comes you need to take it out you would have something to hook a chain to or snap a heavy duty carabiner onto in order to easily move it with a tractor. Just a thought.

Looking good Tyler ! when your watering to kill the sparks starting a fire hit the edge of your hay barn just for safety sake.... grass is weird when it comes to fire ! I was grinding a piece on the tractor one day in a hot dry summer in a clear area , on gravel ! but 20' away a grass clump burst into flame..... I stomped it out easy, but it sure made me uneasy about grinding anything that summer !!!

I love the idea behind this panel idea. My only change I would have made is to put the ears on the other side of the panel to absorb the effects of a cow pushing it. Right now your design relies on a bolt. With the ears the other side, you would simply lift the panel up over the ears. As always it's your project and your work. More than I can do sitting in my chair.
Your description of a hog feeder has been around for decades. Load a couple tons of feed and you are good for weeks. The hogs access the feed by flipping up a lid that keeps the rain out. I know you like to build stuff, but you might look into finding a used unit to start with. This will also give you ideas of how you might improve the design or make it better for your circumstances.
Your comment about watering so much you should've planted something made me laugh, as did your 9. I knit - so very different type of projects! - and I totally get what you mean about it being your favorite part when you see it start to take shape; a glimpse of what's to come.
I have that scalder and it takes less than 90 minutes to heat up, which means nothing with planning. I wake up, turn it on, get my chores done and then it's ready for me. However, the temp gauge is useless. Gotta use a thermometer to make sure temp is good. I set mine under 140° and it's generally at 150°. It does hold temp very well though. I do 20 chickens a day myself, 50 with help, and it never slows us down.
Hey Tyler, oil change tips., make sure you can open your fill cap first, before draining the oil. You can puncture the oil filter with a nail and let the oil drain out, then remove it ,,,, PREVENTS THE MESS
I think you do a fantastic job explaining your projects. It’s very satisfying watching your builds come together. My question is are you a rancher that learned to weld? Or a welder that learned to ranch?

I have my own guesses and I want to hear what you think. The weights are great but they aren't the only thing driving price at the auction house. Thanks for your consideration.

We been in the same situation a few times! 😅 Question, when your installing your middle brace on the removeable panel will you be putting a centre foot to help support the centre of the panel? Seeing your putting in that much effort into your panel, wouldnt hurt to go the extra foot. Lol Everything is looking fantastic!! 👍
@@farmertylerranch4399 it works well. Weather impacts it keeping temp right, at times. Also, the amount of water you take out with each bird before the plucker requires that you add occasionally. We ran 100+ through last year. None this year due to kid schedules.
Hey There Tyler, I Hope This Finds You All Well?🙏 Tyler my friend, I've noticed that you space your 5 horizontal pipes equally, which looks great. However, I think a calf could get through it. In my opinion, the bottom 2 or 3 pipes should be closer together, which would stop most calves. I know the top 2 or 3 pipes would be further apart, but at that height, a cow won't go through it, but rather over it, so the larger spacing won't be an issue. Cut all the rails to the smallest measurement and split the difference as they get welded in place. The ⅛ difference becomes 1/16th gap at each end. No problem filling that. Also, did you space the verticals (square uprights) away from the posts for ease of removal? ¼ inch or so? That would allow the panel to slip in-out easily. Looking good from here... 😂
Tyler: When the "temporary" panel you're making is completed, the combined weight of all the pipe and posts may exceed what you'll be able to physically lift and move by yourself. Are you planning to incorporate a connection point(s) into the finished design so you’ll be able to easily lift and move it with your three-point hay spear? Respectfully, W.S.

Thanks for the video. Could you use some of the scrap pieces of pipe for bracing the middle. A lot of detail cuts but uses the extra pieces of pipe.

Years ago I had a 110 steam generator that was slow to get going, put it on a time clock and it did speed things up a bit.

It’s a Diablo dry cut blade. Requires a dry cut saw to work but they’re awesome
