Cheers Derek! I remember talking with my Grandparents; how they made do with what little they had and broken items were repaired etc. A good mindset to have. Many thanks as always!!
Great video you guys. I wonder how many people watching this are green with envy of you two. I know how difficult this probably is but your videos always display a calmness and sense of how happy you two are. Even your dog looks happy. Stay safe and thanks for the video.
Thank you Jim! It's lot's of work, but the good sort of work. The best thing though, I haven't been to a boring work meeting for years now ;) All the best!
I couldn't be more envious of you two. And I reckon I could smell that damper from here. I would love to come up and visit one day. But when you showed that huntsman crawling up your arm again, I nearly screamed. Well done and kudos to both of you for living your dream. ❤👍🍺
That was an excellent chat about your dreams & plans but have to say keep Scott away from making bread. I think what you have both achived so far is amazing. Keep safe & enjoy.
You certainly make great points! I’m slowly becoming an empty nester in central vic. Although I still live on the same property as my two adult daughters, I am living in a large caravan up in the paddock with my old kelpie and my two horses. I’m learning to manage power without overloading the van and I hope to have it fully solar in the future. My son is helping me renovate as I go to eventually have a functioning space that is more suited to my disabilities. Having the bathroom finished is next on my list! Thank you for sharing your journey!! Kel
Really good to see your second half. Good to she doesn’t hide somewhere. Good to see who supports you in your life. Well done both! Enjoy your life. 🤘🤘🤘❤️
Mate, I have just watched the video with my lad (10). Trying to explained off grid, size and distance in Oz is difficult. Loved my couple of years there. Your a very similar age to me, great you took the leap. Loving following your journey. Regards from 🇬🇧
I also think daily about my impact to the environment. I’m in my early 40’s and have built more than what you have there, I’m envious that you have a life partner to share your adventures with. Great to see a couple work together towards a future. Cheers from the Central Coast NSW.
I love this series. There are so many people who would love to go off-grid like you. It's a dream. I'm far from off-grid but I have commissioned a solar array installation on my house. 21x 415W PVs, 9.6kWh battery and 8kWh inverter. It's still early days but thanks to the variability of British weather, I can say that in bright sunshine the battery charges up in a couple of hours but even today in pouring rain, I'm still generating over 1700W. I have an EV too and although the house is now completely independent of the grid, I am going to need to draw some power from the grid to charge the car on occasions. I don't use it much so I am hoping to mitigate that by careful management but if nothing else, my bills will become insignificant now. Next, get rid of the gas... but this will put more pressure onto the electrical system so I'll live with this installation for 12 months and see how it performs. That spider though... no thanks.
Thank you Nigel! It is amazing harnessing the power of the sun, even through the rain power is there. Like you say, with a bit of careful management you can meet all your needs. Thank you for your message!
Nice story Scott.. That creeps me out every time I see that huge spider.. Reminds me of Florida again.. Scott thx for bringing us along and be safe out there... Take care my friend and God Bless...
You guys are really making a good show of it out in the bush. You hit the nail on the head when you said that you are in your early 50's and if not now, when? I turn 60 soon and feeling that urgency to get certain projects around the shop and house done! Good on ya!
I'm loving the smiles on your faces & so pleased for you both. There's nothing like putting in the hard yards & then revelling in what you've achieved. I speak from experience as I fix or tweak everything around our home, having picked up many skills in my career. I retired early for health reasons 23 years ago, but we're living well because we're rarely reliant. on getting work done for us & we've saved a fortune. There's a lot to be said for being responsible with energy & living within your means. I love going retro & enjoy using our push mower, pulling weeds & walking instead of driving whenever I can. You're also on track for using what you NEED, rather than wasting resources because it's convenient. Best wishes from South Australia.
Thank you again! Yes totally agree. Working our way into this change of lifestyle is an interesting and rewarding experience. It more work but it's good work. All the best.
Just catching up Scott. Good talk Judy. Making damper as a boy scout and senior, up to rover scout, baked it straight in the coals, and another way was to wrap the dough around a clean stick and turn until cooked, fun memories. Being a country boy, huntsman spiders were a part of life, as were redbelly black snakes, swamp tiger, brown, black, and tiger snakes. Swimming in the Ovens river, and snakes swim very well. Good video Scott.
Had some good laughs, and fully appreciate you both taking time to film, edit and post these episodes of your off-grid journey. Awesome story, and great point about modern conveniences. They're unsustainable. And your mention of "it's hard work but it's good work" is spot-on. Continued success and happiness. Cheers.
Great to see and hear. It certainly sounds like you are both very happy with your journey. With a fair bit of banter and laughter along the way it might be another one of those " never ending stories" and you know that living out in the scrub, your going to find all sorts of nastie's, creepy and crawly. What an absolutely wonderful way to enter your retiring years, a rip snortin' spot of dirt and a fairly good off sider. Well done to both of yuz.
G'day Scott and Cook. I have just been watching #8 video and the way you say shed house rolled into one word it almost sounds like something else and of course I had a little chuckle. It appears someone doesn't like leeches. Ewww get it out. LMFAO. I thought, " what a scaredy cat". When you get rain you get ship loads of it. Bloody hell.@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
Great vid. You two look really happy, so that's all the proof you need. Also keeping the bread slightly under cooked allows you to toast it to perfection on that beautiful fire pit as needed ;).
Absolutely loving your videos, got my own block at Peeramon and can’t wait to build my shed on the block. Looking forward to watching you guys finish your shed. Look at how relaxed you guys are, loving life. Well done!
Nice job S & J. Calm, understated, nice work and friendly. I am in Africa working but back in Oz soon and will return to building my place in the bush north of Bathurst NSW that I started during COVID. Thanks, all the best, Mark
Enjoying your videos, sharing your adventure and lifestyle with us. I think we should all start living this way, it's better for our physical and mental well being. I look forward to the next one 😊
Thank you! Yes we lived in the city most of our lives until now. It is very peaceful out here. The sounds of the city are replaced by the sounds of birds and wind in the trees...and cicadas :)
🤣😂 Great video thanks for sharing ,Just a tip , get as much done before you hit 61 😂 thats when your body starts telling you yep not today , I hate it , we built a heap of veggie gardens and thankfully made them all raised beds and built green shade house over 1/2 , I preserve a lot of what we grow , and give a lot away , we ended up getting another large water tank and more solar so that when my husband does retire we should be comfortable .
Firewood stove , firewood water heater , overhead tank for pressure? Great video guys nice to hear someone actually confront the fact you have to manage your resources Cheers from down south
Hi Judy & Scott first up great Video keep it up.. i live near Booral NSW on 250 acres.. We my wife & Me have been living off grid for about 8 years.. We built a small 3 bedroom ...yes it take a bit to setup for full time living but you can do it... We have 6kw of Solar.. 2 x 5Kw inverter.. 8 banks of 48v batters it run great...and a 48v backup generator... and yes it was cheaper then run power poles 1 km in....... Keep up the great work Thank.... and yes i am past 60's
Great video guys. The fire got me thinking.. Have you thought about fabricating a nice big fire pot with a tall flue? I imagine the smoke following beauty (Scott) doesn’t bother you too much.. but simply adding another option to the way you stay warm when relaxing outside, or different ways of cooking. Just as long as you can still see the flames of the bush Tele. I’ve helped make them out of old large gas cylinders, hot water cylinders etc. We love them here in Tassie, and I reckon you would benefit too! Cheers!
Tip for you Judy!! You know the curly things you get with a cheap electric mixer? They’re for kneading bread dough.( Scott should cut you some slack on power use for that.) My Missus Tania started making bread at home again about 12 months ago and went through the same drama (white, savory olive and sundried toms, raisin). Much easier using the mixer. 25kg bag of baker’s flour is about $20.00 to $25.00 Cheap for months of fresh bread, scones, damper, cake, cookies, gravy, etc, etc. Fresh bread, salted butter, fresh off the bone ham, mango and paw paw chutney, and a beer. And the world becomes perfect!! Cheers guys.
Anyone else put their hand over the screen when the spider was on Scott 😬😬 eugh! You guys have a great life there 👍 I'm the same with my solar power here. Can't have the washing machine on and the coffee machine as it'll trip. We've learnt the ways of solar tho 👍 Looking forward to your next vid 🍻🥂👏
Loved this style of video! Gotta do more!!! We just moved to our first property ourselves (3 weeks in rural NSW on 26 acres) I’m 36 and bloody exhausted already and we’ve done nothing but unpack boxes so far hahaha send help… in the form of that bread 🤤
Great video thanks guys. We have a couple of acres of very pretty land out near Kingaroy. But having just had grand kids getting the missus to move out there is proving impossible. She is enjoying being a Grandma too much. 🤨
Great to see you both getting comfortable in front of the camera. Vickie said we should move, then she saw the spider and quickly changed me mind 😂😂. Looking forward to the next video, Judy kick him in the ass. 😂
Thank you! I removed several of our cabin videos. I had several nasty comments about living in a shed. So I took them down unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Scott you got to build an oven for Judy, guys you got to have bread often place you can cook pizzas too and many good, just coming from a pastry chef or 35 years in Sydney, so red bricks on the bottom and the top you can make a steel door yes and some long shovels to pick up the pizzas or the bread and the rest Ho! forgot you can cook some beautiful stews anyways very please to see you two happy in a new life style , take care Robert from Sydney
Hermoso video amigo, un día de recuerdos junto al fogón mientras producen un rico pan casero. Por cierto, el pan que se consume en casa lo hago yo 😂. Un día de descanso y una mirada retrospectiva de a dos...no es maravilloso? Disfruten! Abrazo amigo Scott!
Hey - could you do a workshop tour using one of your wet days. There was a work horse with a clamp that caught my eye that would be good to know more about .. thanks
Hey guys love the puppy and your vids. I have a question....What is the hardest problem you have had going off grid and how did you solve that problem kind regards Paddy
Thank you Patrick! Judy may have a different answer; for me, overcoming what other people think and say how you should life. We get a lot of you cannot do that. I try and do my best and enjoy this time in my life with the person I love.
Shoulda flipped the dampa 😋While off grid-ding is not in our immediate future, wifey and I may attempt to escape the rat race and move bush at some stage. Seeing you guys so happy and productive is helping the conversation convincing her ;)
Nice video. I'm enjoying keeping up with y'all.
Thank you Wayne!
Nice one guys, your doing great.
Thank you Anthony!
lovely video with you and your wife. luck to you
Thank you Martin!!
Teaching yourselves to be less wasteful is a step back in time. What you're doing is like one long "Maker" video. Great stuff guys

Before you come up Chris I'll train all the spiders to be nice. All the best mate!
Great video, nice to see something so warm and friendly, and your bread has me drooling lol
That was an excellent chat about your dreams & plans but have to say keep Scott away from making bread.
I think what you have both achived so far is amazing. Keep safe & enjoy.

Everything’s coming along nicely. Thank you for the idea and peek into our lives. Have a good one 😁👍🇦🇺
Cheers Mark!
What a fun video! Nothing better than living and enjoying that life you chose. Even your dog is happy! Good on ya!
Thank you Tomas! Nala is enjoying the great outdoors.
I love their quiet with the Australian bird calls. Remember we hear in the cities love the sounds of quiet + Australian bird calls.
The sounds of the birds is a delight. Right now we have Cicadas, and they are loud. Have to take the good with the bad I guess.
I also think daily about my impact to the environment. I’m in my early 40’s and have built more than what you have there, I’m envious that you have a life partner to share your adventures with. Great to see a couple work together towards a future.

Thank you! We are fortunate to have each other; blessed!
G'day, thanks for the chat, Judy is becoming the star of the show, bread looked beautiful, enjoy
Thank you BPT! Yes Judy is doing well (about time too ;)

Now to show the missus the video and nag her some more.
Thanks Ross! The country air is fantastic. Yes get nagging!
I live in the countryside in ireland in County tipperary. Just listening to the birds and the rain, just like here, easy on the head.
It is so nice when you just stop and listen to the surroundings, joy! Thank you Noel!

You're right Peter! I'm very immature for my age and I hope to get worse ;) Thank you!

Very interesting journey! I lived in the city and not very familiar with off-grid lifestyle!
Thank you! Yes we lived in the city most of our lives until now. It is very peaceful out here. The sounds of the city are replaced by the sounds of birds and wind in the trees...and cicadas :)
Congrats on all the hard work and the guts to make it happen!
Thanks Greg! We are plodding along.
Thank you Kerry! Yes at 54 I feel it already so I know what you say is spot on.
Nice to see that you both have enjoyed the transition from suburbia to the rural lifestyle. Keep on keeping on. Loving the updates.
Many thanks! So far so good. Loving it.
Firewood stove , firewood water heater , overhead tank for pressure? Great video guys nice to hear someone actually confront the fact you have to manage your resources
Cheers from down south
Cheers Ian! We have heaps of fire wood, years worth! Yes it's been good to keep an eye on what we use and when we use it. All part of the fun.
Well done to you. I don’t believe I could go back to suburbia. Looking forward to an update on the shed. Take care mate.
Thanks Stan! All the best.
Hi Judy & Scott first up great Video keep it up.. i live near Booral NSW on 250 acres.. We my wife & Me have been living off grid for about 8 years.. Cheers Blinky! Yes it does take a bit of time and lots of energy, but we are up for it. Sounds like a good power system you have.
So happy to have stumbled across your channel!! Brilliant content without the cheesiness you too often get with tiny home vids haha.
thank you!
Great to hear! Thank you!
Great job guys…. Watch a bit of fire to fork for camp oven top tips…. Bloody good looking bread Jude 👌👌
Thank you! I'm onto it, cheers!
Love your channel you are doing a great job
Thank you John!!
👍👍👍
You guys are living my dream... Hi from Durban South Africa
Hi and thank you! Yes we are blessed to have the opportunity to do this.
Cheers!
Thanks Ryan! Yes definitely on the cards to make a fire place or oven. Would be the way to go like you say.
Great tips Tony! Yep, I'ma tight arse but we might be able to get one of the mixers. Nothing like fresh bread! All the best Tony and Tania!
My cousin lives off grid in Arizona outside of Phoenix somewhere and has for years.
Anyone else put their hand over the screen when the spider was on Scott 😬😬 eugh!
You guys have a great life there 👍 I'm the same with my solar power here. Can't have the washing machine on and the coffee machine as it'll trip. We've learnt the ways of solar tho 👍
Looking forward to your next vid 🍻🥂👏
Thank you! Yes we learned to work with the solar and it's fine. Rider the Spider!
Very nice, Scott. You almost called BS on the bread needing more time 😂
Got me! Cheers.
Loved this style of video! Gotta do more!!!
We just moved to our first property ourselves (3 weeks in rural NSW on 26 acres)
I’m 36 and bloody exhausted already and we’ve done nothing but unpack boxes so far hahaha send help… in the form of that bread 🤤
Thank you! Plenty more to come. All the best for your new property. Judy made you some bread....but I ate it...sorry :)
@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious hahaha awwww rude ! 😅 but thanks Judy hehe 😜
The bread looked bloody marvellous.😅
It was! Thanks Jose!
Great couple, much love from the uk
Very kind Gary, thank you!
Great video thanks guys. We have a couple of acres of very pretty land out near Kingaroy. But having just had grand kids getting the missus to move out there is proving impossible. She is enjoying being a Grandma too much. 🤨
Thanks Warren! Yes that would be difficult. That test is yet to come for us, no Grandchildren yet.
I have a hobby farm 2 hours south of Perth and my wife likes living under the stars... 5 stars! I come down here weekly and she comes occasionally.
Haha, yes he 5 stars. Well there is nothing as beautiful as a bright night sky with all the stars.
Great to see you both getting comfortable in front of the camera.
Vickie said we should move, then she saw the spider and quickly changed me mind 😂😂.
Looking forward to the next video, Judy kick him in the ass. 😂
Haha, the spider! I had to burn my undies that day! All the best to you both.
I'm loving the new vids. It's looking like you are having the best time with the new adventures. I'll pop up at some stage to say hello.
Thank you so much Dale! We would be so happy to have you here, that would be awesome!!

Love your work Scott. Where did episode 12 go? My partner and I were about to watch it for the 2nd time 😅
Thank you! I removed several of our cabin videos. I had several nasty comments about living in a shed. So I took them down unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Mmmm. Freshly baked bread. 😋
Yes it's the best!
I've enjoyed watching this channel it's inspired me to do somewhat the same.. all the way from 🇿🇦

Are you doing a septic tank
Thank you! Yes septic will go in soon we hope.
Hey - could you do a workshop tour using one of your wet days. There was a work horse with a clamp that caught my eye that would be good to know more about .. thanks
Those are the Triton Super Jaws. I've had them for 20 years. There are various versions of these. When the workshop is set up there may be a tour.
Hey guys love the puppy and your vids.
I have a question....What is the hardest problem you have had going off grid and how did you solve that problem
kind regards Paddy
Thank you Patrick! Judy may have a different answer; for me, overcoming what other people think and say how you should life. We get a lot of you cannot do that. I try and do my best and enjoy this time in my life with the person I love.

Hi Luke, Thank you! I removed several videos. I hope to explain in future episodes.
@ no worries. I’m trying to do some internal work on my shed and your videos have been so valuable. Thank you. Absolutely love each video you do.
