    I never really comment on videos BUT I just wanted to say that I tried this and it actually worked way better than I expected. Posted a new video yesterday that was 48 minutes long. I’d normally do one ad every 5 minutes or so, but I did one every 2.5 minutes this time. Video got 40k views the first day and made $1100 in revenue! Normally we would have made around $400-$500. Average CPM for the channel is $24 but the CPM for that video came in at $45 (and the topic was very similar to all of our other videos). Just a huge thank you for this video. One of the true “hacks” that actually works.

    My real concern is as a ASMR channel you can’t necessarily place a mid roll add because it might ruin the user experience.for example what if the person is watching a relaxing video only to get a random add that is the opposite of the content presented 😅. Unfortunately this is something our community has found during the time weve been refining the guide the video is based on, that ASMR channels are not suited for mid-rolls because people wont even tolerate one ad in the middle, let alone possible 2, no matter the length, and because youtube ads are always so darn loud.

So, take Monetized playbacks/ (# of Skippable ads + # of non skips ads) that will tell you how many ad sessions you're viewers had. You don't add bumpers since those are the 2nd ad after another one. But you can still keep it in mind to know how many of the ad sessions are a double ad. Which isn't a huge deal since bumper ads are only 5 or 6 seconds and go away on their own.

    If you have youtube auto-apply mid-roll ads without manually moving them to natural breakpoints, you're turning off potential viewers and maybe losing subscribers because of the asinine way youtube inserts them. I recently forgot to move them around on a recent upload and TH-cam decided to place an ad smack in the middle of a 1-minute long intro that had music running through it. Imagine how jarring that is for the viewer. I have a policy that I'll run an ad at the beginning, the end of the video, and then one each at natural breakpoints which - on a backpacking channel is easy because each night I camp out and fade to black before the next day - you run an ad. these are built-in breakpoints that do not disrupt the flow of the video at all. Always be putting yourself in the viewers' shoes.

    I can't believe this works... I mean we have viewers that specifically watch ads because they know it helps the creator and this seems like this would really drain our most faithful viewers. • @JokullFrosti
      @JokullFrosti 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cool thing is youtube has an algorithm to know the ad tolerance of each viewer, and what ad types they prefer such as skippable, non skip, etc. and after the years of testing we aw that most channels actually, even with implementing our ad guide as shown in the video, only see 0.9 to 1.5 video ads per video session. before doing midrolls this way, its usually 0.5 to 0.7, sometimes better, but not often. so really, a lot of your viewers may not even be seeing an ad at all right now. You work hard to make content and deserve to get paid, so them taking 15 to 20 seconds during your video to see 1 or 2 ads is not that much to ask.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We just started running midrolls and previously had none. There was a definite issue when we allowed YT to place ads on its own where they placed 5 ads in one video for midrolls. My husband came home and told me how many there were in my recent upload and I asked my community about it and they said YT placed a lot. It isn't worth the community damaging risk for me to make a couple more bucks, we do more than fine as is and for us, the alternate income streams work best to pay the bills vs running tons of ads. But loyalty has to be sustained for that to work too.
      My people noticed an uptick and were not pleased and that wasn't with putting them every 2 min either.
