@@lunytoonz3466True i love my 97 vfr 750, and all the VFRs up till 2004 sounded amazing with the 180* v4 and gear driven cams.....but any rc36 is also at minimum 26 years old, with MUCH MUCH worse suspension, half the HP, and weighs 100lbs more sadly and would get shit on by any 600 of the mid 2000s in every category but sound and comfort sadly

The early inlines are way better balanced & are thus smoother making them more driveable in road conditions low down the range , sound wise sound wise the crossplane sound stirr the soul
I stopped with the r1 in 2009 since they choose that cross plane engine which reminds me the sound of a s650 Suzuki. What an ugly sound compared to the s1000rr or zx10…

What are the good and bad points ? I hesitate between both, being a bit afraid of maintenance cost on Bmw.
@@MM-iy9wf Yes inline 4 is the way to go. Mine is a 2013, stock pipe except the resonator is removed. Has a nice deep sound, I love it. Good points is it has all the goodies the S1000RR has... traction control, ABS, only thing missing is the quickshifter. The BMW is more expensive to maintain because it's a more complicated machine. Also it vibrates a lot because there is no counter-balancer in the engine. it does have more power though.

At higher revs,yes inline 4 sounds nicer to me but at lower revs the cross plane takes the cake.
