The worst is that in comparision Fantasy Khaine was a giant menace. Between giving a scar that cannot go away to Slaanesh face. Screwing over 3 other god of his own pantheon. Killing the ancestor of all dragon and creating one of the most powerfull weapon in the setting to the point that the other elf gods, the chaos gods and the ghost of his dead family begged an eldar to not pick up the swords he is metal

There’s actually THREE instances of the Avatar of Khaine being a badass and winning that I know of. One is the Ciaphas Cain book. The other one is “Shadow Point” by Gordon Rennie. The Avatar:
1.) Wakes itself up and proceeds to just take a stroll through its craftworld’s webway portal
2.) Scares the absolute shit out of some harlequins while in the webway
3.) Exits the webway on an Ork planet and reduces about half of a WAAAAGH to pulped fungus and molten slag because they were between the Avatar and another webway portal
4.) Shows up just in time to gruesomely incinerate a Dark Eldar leader and much less gruesomely kill a farseer
5.) Plays a crucial (if indirect) role in saving a truce/alliance between the Imperial Navy and the Craftworld Eldar to fight off the 13th Black Crusade.
The only problem is…this is the old 13th Black Crusade, so it’s canonicity is a bit…ehhh?
That said it’s still a pretty good story. Same goes for the book that it’s a sequel to, “Execution Hour”. ABorder Prince did an excellent reading of both of them.
Another one of only times the Avatar of Khaine wasn’t clowned on was when the Eldar fought the Tyranids and had to leave and get help and supplies, and ended up leaving the Avatar behind. When they came back they found the Avatar atop a mountain fighting off swarms of nids and *winning.* It was only when they deployed that they found the mountain was *not* a mountain at all… it was literally *all* the dead Tyranids it had killed up to that point, which was vast majority of the Tyranids on the planet.

Finally, the Avatar gets some of the respect it deserves.

Don’t get used to it or comfortable. GW will ruin it the first chance they get. Games Workshop… *Why* are you like this?

eldar paths arent focused on the warrior aspects only. there are options for service, production, wraithbone singing, prophecy, mourning as in funeral service, art and literacy. autarchs on the other end are eldar who walked one or more warrior paths as well as civilian paths and finally took on the path of leadership. rangers are on the path of the outcast formally but they comprise people who cannot fit in the strict traditional system of the craftworld and dont want to be constrained anymore. they slowly turn into corsairs and sometimes dark eldar, or into highly independent individuals spending a long time on journeys through the webway, visiting maiden worlds and craftworlds throughout the galaxy. and then there was that one incubus from commoragh who joined the ranks of a striking scorpion coven on alaitoc and got a spirit stone for himself.

Thanks for reminding me. I'd honestly forgotten that civilian stuff such as being a bonesinger counts as a path.

HOW you turn a Literal AVATAR of a *WAR GOD* into Warf from Star Trek but worse is so infuriating it’s actually incredibly impressive. I mean how do you even do that?

GW really likes to do the Eldar dirty when it's in the interest of making something look more threatening.
Like the time when they had 4 craftworlds get destroyed in a single book.

@@augustinejohnson450 I heard about around the time that Psychic Awakening came out. I don't remember which video I watched about it but I remember that the destruction of 4 minor craft worlds was mentioned. By minor, I mean they weren't any of the main ones like Ulthwe or Biel-Tan.

I believe that was when they tried to wake up Ynnead. The Craftworlds haven’t ever forgotten or forgiven Eldrad for that. I believe he knew that would happen but just decided to not tell anyone. Yet another thing to add to the list of reasons why Eldrad should have been executed for treason (among other reasons).
