Great video. Couple things that made it easier on me: 1. Use acetone diluted with water to clean the old glue 2. If replacement part does not come with double sided adhesive tape, use 3M tape or gasket maker silicone 3. Careful not to overtighten 10mm bolt as it may result in breaking of the platic bracket
Thank you for your easy to follow instructions!!! Just changed my e70 passenger side and it took longer than expected bc when I pulled off the old one, there was silicone adhesive that made a nasty stringy gummy mess. I had some handwipes in my car that have 70% alcohol in them so it helped remove all the goop. I replaced with a Magneti Marelli OEM, but once installed, it didn't fit right and stuck out. The gasket molding around the inside was too thick so the assembly's 3 tabs wouldn't stay in place on the outer side of the hatch. I had to trim the thickness on that side so that the 3 tabs would stay hooked to the hatch. So reinstalled and it is now flush with everything. You're right...that nut and bolt was a bitch to get at to loosen until my fingers could do the rest LOL. Thanks again!!
Pretty good video. ONE NOTE: do not completely remove the inner plastic retainer piece that is attached via the nut. It is meant to spring/snap into place. Then once it is in place, tighten the nut to secure.
Hey Bud, Great video! Bought the part off Ebay for $77. I installed it in 20 minutes. BMW dealership wanted to bill me $400 for parts and labor to install.
Thx for sharing this video. ! Tomorrow i have to remplace. All taillight 😂🤕.. Thx to my beautuful wife😂 she didnt see a damn pole and broke all 4 of them 🤦!
Perfect instructions. Left one took me some more tie. Right one took me 12 min from beginning to end. One question, Would t makes sense to seal the outside with SILICONE to prevent water infiltration ? Something only from the outside to allow to be cutted in case you would need to replace again. BTW the nut is 8 mm , not 10 (At least in Europe)
Hi Sir Excellenttttt Video and great information. I did buy a new"aftermarket" inner tail light for my 2013 bmw x5 35i,as my original assembly was corroded at the led circuit board and the led was out and wasnt working. I installed the new aftermarket one yesterday and its all working fine and both left side and right side lights are of same brightness. i drove it around all ok. when i started up the next morning it says "left 2 stage brake light out, i continue to use the vehicle during the day and when i shut it off , the symbol showes up in the dash that a left rear 2 stage brakelight ....but the bulbs are light it just fine and it all works ok. what are your thoughts? ty in advance for your input.
My Thoughts? Thanks for watching! These BMW's are so over engineered and the replacement part must not be OEM. The sensitive electronics must be recognizing something from CHINE UH and throwing the idiot light to ya. If you are 100% sure everything works, then get used to the BMW life of always having some warning indicator illuminated till the Stealership can reset it.
Hi was this fault showing on the OBC? cos mine was not working and only pointed out by someone i thought it should have shown up on the computer Thanks
Very good, uncle Fjester!! Thank you uncle! I will order a new part for my X5 E70 facelift and I will make a vlog also in Romania! Wish you the best!! Subscribe from me!!
that rubber gasket CRAP shows BMW craftmanship at this factory in South Carolina. TERRIBLE junk and lack of attention to quality and detail...I will not mention what crap it all is that so many of us have to replace those lights. NEVER AGAIN A BMW. it is ridiculous especially that you realize how nice the AFTER MARKET CHEAP gaskets are. BMW quality is CLOSE TO BEING A DISASTER,
FWIW, my reason I keep replacing these, is, I back out into my Trash Dumpster and the lens hits the bucket at the right place to break it. I feel lucky that this is all the damage. I've done the same with my Ford E250 , only once, knock on wood. Build quality & detail has spoiled me, I want 4wd and nothing compares, everything is cheap comparing to the X5.
I am APALLED by the pathetic quality of BMW X5... I have a CAMRY HYBRID same year and 3x the miles...NOTHING to do on it! just OIL changes! X5...door handles even need replacement as PLASTICS became gluey and I need 100 per door handle to replace... junk cars are made by BMW. Never a BMW in my life.

@@UncleFjester im lucky im stil alive ffs 🤣

What bulb did you use to replace tail light?
How tf did u get the black plastic housing off around the bolt
Followed your video to change the light on my 08 x5. Just a fyi you can use gogone to remove the original seal. It comes right off with it.
Good tip, But, I've ruined stuff with goo gone. WD-40, brake Kleen, lighterfluid, nail polish remover are safer alternatives.

not necessary to re-engineer german engineering, but its your car, do whatever you feel is best
Thanks for watching

@@UncleFjester Hi Thanking you for you prompt response and knowledgable input
Thanks, very helpful.
How many bulbs are there inside? I can only see I bulb. Are the other bulbs led bulbs that cannot be replaced?
the incandescent bulbs swap from old part to new part.
LED's are not bulbs
Hi was this fault showing on the OBC? cos mine was not working and only pointed out by someone i thought it should have shown up on the computer Thanks
no
Mushtaq Ahmed Quraishi I have the same problem. Are those light bulb replaceable ? Or do I have to get the entire light...?
What’s the size of nut driver that you used in this video? 11/32? Thank you.
On a German Car? LMAO how about 10mm?
Mine is US version. I will give a try for 10mm. Thank you so much for this video.
?? *How Did you break your Light? Share a Comment for everyone.*
Mine was just old and leaking, the lense was starting to fade. GA and NC sunshine damage
It won’t work if you just replace the bulb?
No, the LED portion was DEAD, not the incandescent bulbs part.
how about not blocking the ROI with the back of your head? But appreciate the effort.

Multumesc si mult noroc
Where was the bad wire ?
It's somewhere inside the tail light assembly. that is why it's considered a component replacement.
