- Tail lights (not the brake lights) mounted ON the tail gate were not working. Brake lights working and corner mounted tail lights are working but the ones mounted on the tail gate (trunk lid) are not. Turns out to be a poor connection to the circuit board which contains LEDs.

Thank you! The second stage lamp notice came on recently on my X5 E70.
The tip to get the screw on slightly before putting it back together was super helpful!
I ended up cleaning off the connectors to the bulb and blowing some compressed air into the area of the circuit board and the notice is clear now.

Wow this is good info the same thing just happened to my 2012 135i Convertible first i had a bulb blowed and i replaced it then driving that same night i noticed the parking light wasn't reflecting
when i passed by a glass building ....now i see theres something else i can check tomorrow hope it works....thanks again forthe info!!
In my case electronics around those LEDs were totally corroded.

Great video. Almost exactly what I need. The white connector you are holding at 2:31, is that soldered to the board or pin connected at the far end? The end you are holding is heavily corroded on my car and causing an error message on my dash. I'm wondering if that piece can be replaced or if need a whole new tail light assembly.
Kevin. I can't recall exactly but if I had to guess, and that's all I'm doing, it was probably soldered at the far end (Otherwise I would have probably shown the other end as a possible source of the problem if it was plugged in like the problem end). Hello I have a 2011 BMW X5 the light that you took out of your tailgate period has a bulb in it. On your video you say that it is a brake light. For some reason mine do not turn on I change the bulbs and everything and it still does not turn on do you have any ideas
should be pretty easy to confirm if it is the right bulb location for the brake light bulb as I've stated. What is happening on the other side when you apply the brakes?
@@YuDaMan thank you so much for responding I actually was told by another TH-camr what the problem was. The brake light on the hatch is called a brake Force display. It only comes on when you press the brakes really hard when it comes on a blinks or strobe to let the person behind you know to stop
My tailgate light does not have the brake light. That’s just an illuminated light has nothing to do with brake light
i wanna know if that one works too.
@@hamiltonbeaniecat2826 it is a brake Force light it turns on when you press the brakes really hard. They have a TH-cam about it check it out
BMW wants to replace the light for 200 EUR
