- Welcome to Canggu! Come with us as we explore one of the fastest growing parts of Bali. Canggu just a few years ago was a beach club a couple atms with rice fields and flowing landscapes. In simply a matter of years, the area has exloded with new booming business, amazing beach clubs and restaurants, along with an influx of visitors and creative entrepreneurs.
You don't have to look far to find local culture though. It's common scene where you have people chopping away in the fields while tourists roll by on the mopeds.

I had the opportunity to visit Bali for a week back in 2017! I cannot describe how awesome it was and how cool people were there. I did pass by Canggu but didn't stay there... Definitely worth coming back, wouldn't think about it twice.

Nice video. I first went to Canggu in 1987. There was ONE drink cart on the top of the stairs just north of the rivermouth. Miles of rice fields. Kinda liked it better then, but still love it

Very nice video about Canggu, you summed up things nicely BUT of course ommited the real situation, can't blame you since you wanna make people dream.
After 14 years living in the South of Bali I'm done.
The whole regency of Badung has become insane, from the tip of the Bukit up to Pererenan.
Where is the nature? Replaced by shops, bars/lounges, villas, hotels, hipsters/instaheads spots and so on.
The charm of Bali's southern regency was its beaches, ricefields, nonchalant way of life.
Now we got unrestricted development, a land ravaged, deprived water table, pollution at every level (sea, air, land, freshwater), maddening traffic jams, outrageous prices of housing.
Tourists used to come to this island to enjoy its nature and culture, now they come to party and take selfies. This is sick.
Bali is a perfect example of what unplanned development and greed can do to a place.
Bali used to be very natural and now people go there to have some party ...... I WANT THE OLD BALI

I am. The most important "what to know": Bali is way more religious and conservative than you're might used to, so have respect for the culture and cover up once anything religion-related comes up. (E.g. Hindu processions at the beach and such)

I miss old Canggu. It was great about 10 years ago, everyone would congregate at the same place each night as that would be the only place open with entertainment, Mondays at one place, Tuesdays another place and other parts of Canggu were quiet, now it's like Seminyak has sprawled out into Canggu, quite noisy all over. Love the place but it was a bit much for me last time...
Recommend Trying Pererenan or further along until Cemagi and beyond if you’re looking for that vibe.

I was there in 1986... families bathing in the water ways at sunset as i rode my bicycle through the countryside .. sigh ! ✨🙏🏼 ... and i loved the sound of the big kites being flown over the fields.. it would wake me up sometimes ti loved it.

I also rode a scooter in Bali. I would only recommend it if you can really ride well and feel very safe. The traffic can be pretty rough. 😀
