    I read somewhere an explanation for "Tuesday in November" This comes from back when the US was primarily an agricultural society. November is when the harvest is mostly done, but the weather isn't so bad that you can't strap up your horse and buggy and travel to go vote. Tuesday was selected because then you could go to church on Sunday, travel on Monday, and vote on Tuesday, then make it back in time to go to church the following Sunday.
    Of course, this is all outdated now.

      To answer Chris' question, the reason why Election Day is on a Tuesday in November is because when the country started there were very few places where rural Americans could vote so it could take a day to travel by horse and carriage to vote. But, many colonists who were very Christian weren't going to travel on a Sunday, so Election Day was held on the 1st Tuesday in November so it would be a date everyone could remember. And, since originally the President got sworn in in March instead of January, it gave the state's 4 full months to count every vote and let the state government know the final results, while today results can be determined within a day and the President gets sworn in 10 weeks after Election Day.

What they do there is make calls for donations and the Senator said that this starts nearly from day one and goes all the way to the next election. They spend as much time putting together money for the next election as they do reading and voting on bills. That was 15 years ago imagine what it's like now with billions spent on the last presidential election and this one set to be double that one. Money in politics is problem number 1. On top of that, he could have told the truth to his audience that the reason the populace is pretty ignorant regarding politics is because they would rather watch garbage entertainment that dulls the mind. No, he wasn't speaking truth to power. He was just speaking in empty platitudes and without any insight as to why someone like President Trump was able to win in the first place. He didn't win because of racism. He didn't win by having support from the media, the entertainment industry, or the super rich. He won because millions of Americans were tired of establishment politicians winning every time. Last election was Clinton. Now it's Biden. He is another fool that Chris Rock would label a duke that has been in government for 47 years. If Chris Rock truly wants term limits, then the term limit for Joe Biden should be over by now. After President Trump wins a second term, that'll be the end for him politically. His remaining legacy will be the people he put in the courts but even those appointments will eventually fade. Some where along the line the script got flipped & people gained the right to Not be offended...So with that we have forgotten how actually we all have the right to our own opinion... actually giving us the right TO be offended & that's what truly inspires changes to be proud of.

      and think about it. We have a huge segment of the USA supporting law enforcement NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO. There should be policies and procedures embedded in the system to avoid the kind of abuses we are seeing and heads should roll in the hierarchy for allowing abusive or white supremacists onto the force where they are allowed to act on their prejudices unchecked.

    • @DistrictN9ne
      @DistrictN9ne 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amywalker7515 "white supremacist onto the force" lol
      Give me an example of an interaction between a cop and a "victim," that was inarguably due to prejudice.
      Just because a white man commits a vile or controversial act on a black man that doesn't necessarily mean that he's a white supremacist. Or that the system or institute is inherently racist. There's no denying that there are isolated cases of racism and discrimination. But this narrative that the institute as a whole is inherently racist, and that every interaction between a white cop and a black man is fueled by prejudice is baseless.
      Those of us who support law enforcement understand that not all cops are bad. And that it isn't right nor justified to generalize an entire police force, based off of the actions of one man.

      @chinookvalley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DistrictN9ne No, not all cops are bad, but I have to say the majority have issues that should exclude them from ever becoming cops. Note: statistically judges, attorneys, and cops have anger issues and commit domestic violence at a higher rate than most people. Status quo...

    • @DistrictN9ne
      @DistrictN9ne 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chinookvalley awfully convenient how you state that as a statistic without providing an actual statistic.
      Nonetheless.. there are hundreds of thousands of police interactions reported annually. With less than a thousand interactions resulting in deaths. And yet we only hear about a few dozen of those cases. Simply because they fit a narrative.
      *Quote from the Washington Post* -
      "The overwhelming majority of people killed are armed. Nearly half of all people fatally shot by police are white. Most of these shootings draw little or no attention beyond a news story.
      Some become flash points in the country’s ongoing reckoning about race and police. The ones prompting the loudest outcries often involve people who are black, unarmed, or both, shootings that have led to the harshest scrutiny of police."

    • @charityson3752
      @charityson3752 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jak Skellington Mmhmm yes, most police interactions are fine. But look up the FBI report on white supremacy in the police force. Look up information on corruption in the police force. Look up the disproportionate number of Blacks arrested for drug use. Look up the stats on the color of people with proven wrongful convictions. And as far as judging the police, the reaction of the Buffalo PD who supported their colleague by changing job roles en masse after their colleague pushed a man to the ground and cracked his head on the sidewalk, and the fact that their PR lied to the press about it, doesn’t speak well of brotherhood over ethics. The police who are bad actors are TRAINED to do what they do and supported by their admin. Cops at protests all covering their name tapes. Cols who do not use common sense skills when responding to a mental health crisis. The undercover vid of how violent cols get when you go in to request a complaint form. The fact that there are people who don’t think anything unwarranted happen to George Floyd because he had a record. Their is a problem with police forces as a whole and with civilians who support the police as well. As an industry, if you keep having the same egregiously wrong things happen without trying some different solutions, the industry looks bad, regardless of how much good service you provide elsewhere.
